Valeriy Kutushov, About the Baga-Burul Temple

The temple was opened on 13 November 2011 in a ceremony attended by monks of the Central Temple in Elista. The temple houses the Dalai Lama’s monastic robe, a complete set of Ganjur and Danjur texts, various Buddhist thangkas, as well as other sacred objects. The stupa of Enlightenment, which is part of the temple complex, was built in 2000. The temple prides itself on being the second temple in Kalmykia to have a residence room for the Dalai Lama.
