Valley Boys

(Salt Lake) Valley Boys Sean Stetson and Jonny Tollestrup explore a wide variety of topics ranging from Sports, News and Entertainment. Occasionally there are substantive conversations but there is a good amount of nonsense too.

  1. 24

Ep 25 - Zadorov Fan Club

The boys return from the podcasting shadow realm to muse on the struggles of their favorite hockey teams, Jonny's new favorite person in the world, Sean's impending rise in NHL media, and the usual bickering about TV shows.

  2. 23

    Ep 24 - We're a Hockey Show

The boys return to talk frankly too much about the NHL as big news hit the Salt Lake valley with the impending arrival of their very own team, plus some playoff predictions with a little banter about all the shows Jonny hasn't been watching but really aught to be.

  3. 22

    Ep 23 - Sean's Spicy Hockey Take

The boys are back after a brief hiatus due to health issues and discuss ways each of them could live healthier before getting to the real discussion of the potential move of the Arizona Coyotes NHL franchise to SLC. Jonny also calls the new Joker trailer cringe and Sean lays into him (gently) for it.

  4. 21

Ep 22 - Debating Truth Social at the Applebee's

The boys return to poke fun at each others preferred hockey teams, debate casual dining restaurants and somehow make sense of Trump's newly found social media wealth.

  5. 20

Ep 21 - March Madness in Montreal

They boys return after Sean's sojourn in Montreal, Sean tells Jonny of the many wonders of Canada including poutine, giant potholes, and a mixed bag of Hockey Fans. Sean also reveals a special surprise for Jonny before reprimanding his terrible March Madness bracket. The boys also gush about Dune 2 some more, and speculate about Aaron Taylor-Johnson's rumored casting of film's most famous spy.

  6. 19

Ep 20 - We predict the Oscars perfectly

The boys return to mourn Jason Kelce's retirement from the NFL and speculate about the future of both Kelce brothers, Sean also learns that nobody likes Boston teams except people from Boston. Later Sean and Jonny talk medical debt, but its like a positive story promise. Getting to the meat of the episode the boys go through their Oscar predictions. Who they hope will walk away with golden statues and who they think actually will, which is mostly Oppenheimer. 7. 18

Ep 19 - Jonny is a Movie Snob

The boys are back to talk about anything and everything including the most recent matchup between the Canucks and Bruins, Biden's visit to late night TV, and the combination of Jonny's unbelievable hype for Dune 2 only matched by his snobbery towards movie snacks.

  8. 17

Ep 18 - Will you be my Valentine Pedro?

The boys are back to talk about Jonny's mini depressive episode after watching the Canucks get blown out in Boston, why its possible for a professional football team to not know overtime rules, and everyone's least favorite Utahn.

  9. 16

Ep 17 - Tucker, Taylor and the TVA

The boys return to the studio again to give thoughts on the everything, including an educated and a very uneducated Super Bowl pick, why Tucker Carlson is in Moscow, and our solution to fixing the MCU.

  10. 15

    Ep 16 - We don't watch anything

The boys return ready to talk about anything and everything, unless its the Apple TV shows Jonny was supposed to watch or the Oscar nominated films that Sean was supposed to watch. Maybe one day they'll watch the same thing and discuss that.

  11. 14

Ep 15 - Oscar Preview Preview

The boys are back again, with a movie focused discussion about many of the Oscar nominations, and the admittance from both Jonny and Sean that they need to see more before jumping to conclusions about what or who might win. The boys also cover the increasingly dull and depressing Republican Primary before Sean gets excited to talk sports for the week, including his confession that he truly was wrong about Travis Kelce

  12. 13

Ep 14 - Eulogy for Bill

The boys return to discuss the end of an era of coaching in football, why Jonny hates The Greatest Showman (again), and make a bet to see if Sean will finally give animation a chance.

  13. 12

Ep 13 - New name, same show

The boys have returned from their holiday break ready to talk anything and everything including Jonny's doomer takes on Star Wars, Sean's doomer takes about the New England Patriots, and everyone's doomer takes about Trump's legal situation.

  14. 11

Ep - 12: End of an Era

They boys return, or at least Sean does as it appears a vague Canadian robot has replaced Jonny for this episode. I'm sure they'll get that sorted in the new year. The robot and Sean discuss all sorts of non-sense this week including Shohei Ohtani's absurd new MLB contract, why having more wins makes the Canucks better than the Bruins, and struggling their way through finals. The Robot tries to get Sean to play a game of guess that Warcraft Character and things go off the rail for far too long. Sean and his new mechanical friend talk about improvements they want to make to the show going into the New Year.

  15. 10

    Ep 11 - Blackhawks Suck

The boys return to sing the woes of Boston sports, Disney box office returns and Black Friday shopping. All hope is not lost as Sean brings joy of Christmas traditions to the show before diving once again into the darkest parts of their mind as they wrap their minds around the film Whiplash and the sinister implications of its ending. Jonny and Sean's movie to watch this week is Star Wars - Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.

  16. 9

    Ep 10 - We're a YA novel show

The boys return before thanksgiving to talk about the most important topics which YA franchise are worthwhile, the fundamental conflict of the pod, and most importantly James Franco's show where he stops the assassination of JFK.

  17. 8

Ep 9 - TayTay and Zaddy Pascal

The boys return this week to ramble, this week an unusual amount of time was spent talking about recent Marvel news now that Pedro Pascal seems primed to join the MCU, but this episode is not without the usual gushing over Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce news, a weird tangent from Jonny about how transcripts holds work at colleges and a bizarre twist when Republican presidential nominees get brought up...

  18. 7

Ep 8 - This one exists

The boys are back after the heartbreaking loss of last week's episode to Jonny's inability to make a non-corrupted file and they're doing great. Sean and Jonny open up with some talk about anticipated Marvel releases, including the end of Loki S2 and The Marvel's. Keeping strong with nerd content Jonny takes Sean on a deep-dive on the weird ways Blizzard Entertainment designs systems in World of Warcraft and Sean talks about his wish list for Spider-Man 2. After a little sports talk the boys move onto politics where elections results look good, but everything else looks bad. They wrap up this week with the start of their own Movie Club working through the Top 100 IMDB list but with random numbers deciding which movie on the list they watch, for this week it'll be Toy Story 3, available on Disney+, which Jonny openly admits to being ok with shilling for if Bob Iger will just throw him some cash.

  19. 6

    Ep 6 - Spider-Man, Speakers, and Scorsese

The boys sit down today to talk about Sean's budding obsession with the new Spider-Man game, then have a prolonged talk about how much fun Jonny is having getting back into hockey, and Jonny's worry about how much his wife likes watching grown men body check each other. Jonny also talks about the new Martin Scorsese film, Killers of the Flower Moon and how most people don't understand actor Brendan Fraser's performance. Sean updates Jonny on his favorite relationship between Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift and the boys get distracted talking about gamer-tags.

  20. 5

Ep 5 - Psychics, Onions, and Ridley Scott

The boys are back starting with Sean fawning over his newfound pastime, Obsessing over Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's relationship. Jonny and Sean also go back and forth about Ridley Scott's filmography as anticipation begins for his latest feature later this fall. In more real life news Sean blasts the latest Utah drama involving O.U.R. founder Tim Ballard and his peculiar use of a psychic in his operation. Sean also tells Jonny how excited he is for the latest Spider-Man game, and Jonny get excited about learning a new role in World of Warcraft. The episode wraps with a prolonged discussion on the role of onions in cooking for reasons only understood by Tim Ballard's Psychic.

  21. 4

    Ep 4 - We're Never Going Back

The boys are back and with a couple upgrades to their mics they almost sound like real people now. Sean starts the episode by vowing that we will not talk about Star Wars every episode, because "We're not a Star Wars show". Then Jonny ruins everything by talking about politics including the poor reactions from left and right wing folk online to the newest wave of conflict in Gaza, as well as the clown shows that are the Republican party's attempt to elect a speaker and RFK Jr. running as an independent. Once the serious stuff was dealt with Sean takes us the world of late night television now that it's returned post-writer's strike. Jonny laments the days where Craig Ferguson and Conan O'Brian were on air, and Sean offers a defense of Jimmy Fallon against Jonny's hater tirade. Then into our weekly sports segment and gets Jonny to hard commit to watching some NHL games this season instead of just highlight clips before the show turns serious again for no particular reason as Jonny and Sean talk faith and what to do when your church isn't being what you hoped for. The show wraps with Jonny and Sean both sharing their past misadventures investing in crypto on Robinhood.

  22. 3

    Ep. 3 - Sci-Fi Extravaganza

The boys are back with another way too long argument about which Star Wars show is best, Sean confesses that he might be coming around on Travis Kelce, Jonny takes several minutes to tell Sean exactly why The Creator is his least favorite movie of the year, Jonny asks Sean for advice about how to handle his snack related problems and Sean mocks Jonny's very serious issue. Sean and Jonny also talk about their hesitation and struggles around weight-loss medication and Jonny wraps up the episode with a snooze fest about what book he's reading.

  23. 2

    Ep. 2 - We're Swifties Now

Sean and Jonny are back and after a heated rock, paper, scissors match Sean professes his deep desire for Taylor Swift to break Travis Kelce's heart, Jonny laments his class filled with high schoolers and Sean accuses him of being ageist, Both Sean and Jonny talk about some of their favorite movies of the year and what they're excited to see on the big screen this fall and Sean makes makes a music recommendation for Jonny.

  24. 1

    Ep. 1 - We're not a Star Wars show

Welcome to the I don't know podcast, where Sean Stetson and Jonny Tollestrup work together to figure out things they don't know, and share with each other the things they do. In the first episode Sean explains Aaron Rodgers season ending injury moments after debuting for the New York Jets, Jonny tells Sean about the impending collapse of the esports industry, Jonny and Sean argue about what the best Star Wars show is, Jonny shares his thoughts and feelings about Mitt Romney's soon-to-be retirement from political life and the fella's wrap up by gushing about watching Messi play in the MSL.
