2024 was a doozy. Hurricanes, humorous presidential elections, A.I takeover, civil wars, "The Simpson's" couldn't even predict some of this. Yet, Big 24 rolled through and quickly showed me who's boss, which happened to be me. This year I took control of the controller and did the work to become one step closer to the woman I am destined to be. I am grateful for all of the trials and tribulations this year has put me through; thoughtfully adding one block at a time to this brickhouse, I am a powerhouse of love and light because of my fight. Dating with boundaries is important because let’s be real… "step forward if you grew up with your father in the household, step forward if your father married your mother, step forward if you’ve always had a good relationship with your father.” If you’re not still at the back, YOU ARE THE MINORITY.  Though this issue is not solely women’s fault, let’s do what WE can to solve it.  We cannot continue to give our time to men that don’t even deserve eye contact from us… We have to understand HOW and WHO to date so we can start changing the narrative… SO that Father’s Day can be celebrated in the same way that Mother’s Day is celebrated… SO that we can start normalizing 2 parent households in the Black community. We make these men boyfriends, fiancé ‘s husbands, baby daddies, for what? We cannot continue to give these men these grandiose titles/responsibilities if they are not EXCELLING!  There is not a lack of good men out there. We simply have to be more strategic about Choosing. “How the fu** you a creative, but you ain’t creating?” Are creatives allowed to rest? I haven’t been feeding into my creativity consistently and I’m beginning to feel an overwhelming sense of regret due to the reminder of mortality that is knocking on my door. I can’t imagine dying before being able to birth these ideas. As a visionary, I will never feel accomplished if I don’t successfully release these constant concepts my brain is continually receiving. Yet, as mother, a teacher, someone who values rest and SO much more, I also have been debating if I have the time to express these ideas. This decision has caused me to consider abstinence because having casual sex has never necessarily felt fulfilling. It only relieves an itch temporarily.
