Unfortunately, the excitement of this opening set was lost due to a complete technical sound failure at the venue, thwarting legend Jeff Mills from playing a full set and leaving attendees pretty bummed. Quite a shame considering it was my first time witnessing him live. https://soundcloud.com/esloan and I were still honored to even have this opportunity presented to us despite the venue mishaps and with the theme centered around the 50th anniversary of the Apollo moon landing, we wanted to deliver a set that leaned on the spacey, cosmic deep techno/electro. My full set from the final DC Daybreaker of 2017: an ode to the Studio 54 days of the 70s. I tried to pay homage to those days while also bringing in some fresh vibes. Sylvester, The Jacksons, Donna Summer, Salsoul, Francois Kevorkian...you name it. It was the glory days of music in my opinion. Any chance I get to play disco - rather it be classic, original cuts or new modern takes - I eat them up. Long live disco. If unfamiliar with Daybreaker, it is THE best way to start your mornings - yoga followed by a two-hour no-holds-barred dance party. Now in 22 cities worldwide, they have created a community that is filled with love and energy. #171717 is my favorite shade of black, I've used it as my go-to black for every web design project I have done for years (unless design dictated otherwise). It's a good black Bront.
