Some popular extreme sports include skateboarding, snowboarding, freestyle skiing, in-line roller-skating, street BMX and mountain biking, as well as activities like rock climbing and skydiving.While extreme sports have been historically male dominated, there is a growing presence of women in these sports. However, the industry is still overwhelmingly male, with more male professional athletes, competitions, and sponsorship opportunities. Women in extreme sports face various challenges, including discrimination, skepticism about their capabilities, and a lack of representation both on and off the field. Last week I provided a comprehensive overview of the pervasive inequalities faced by women athletes in the world of sports. The challenges highlighted included sexism, stereotypes, and discrimination, that women athletes encounter. I also address the issue of objectification and inappropriate comments directed at female athletes on social media. As well, I discussed the lower viewership of women's sports compared to men's, emphasizing the need for equal attention and support for female athletes.
