Wallbreakers 4: Patrick Kabeya
In this episode, we speak with Ottawa based documentary filmmaker, Patrick Kabeya.As a Congolese Canadian who grew up in apartheid Africa, Patrick's creative identity roots from portraying Congolese colonial and political history and Pan-African historical figures in his documentaries.He has gained recognition for six short documentary films and two feature length documentaries, including “Congo": A Political Tragedy” and “From Patrice to Lumumba”.As a professional and Documentary film, Patrick shares his insights on being the masters of our own stories.

And has received two awards for his film “The Middle Eight” from the 2023 Digi60 Filmmakers’ Festival. Hussain Dawwas also received two awards as an emerging filmmaker for his entry into the festival, “Watch What You Have”.Together we kick off the podcast by talking about the fears and struggles we tackle as emerging creatives.
