We Didn’t Start The Podcast

Politics are hard, and murder is harder. Some rough history this week, some we have a very close memory of. This week discusses the Belgian Congo and the murder of George Floyd.

The first of some verrry heavy episodes, dealing with police brutality, race issues and the deaths of children. Surprisingly, U2 isn't all fun and games either. So we understand if this isn't the day or podcast episode for you. Nonetheless, the killing of Tamir Rice is an important issue, and we encourage you to educate yourself on the event and ways you can help create change whenever you feel safe to do so. 

So Anne and Kelly don't play baseball... like, at all. But that doesn't mean they can't appreciate Mickey Mantle and all he brought to the sport. And they revisit an old hoax that shouldn't have gotten as far as it did...

A musical episode today, though both of the subjects are known for much more than their music. Anne And Kelly have to work to learn about the impact of conductor Arturo Toscanini, and then have to work to reconcile their feelings on Michael Jackson... 

It's time to get philosophical! The writings of George Santayana prime us for the first of some heavy topics this podcast will cover, and Kelly and Anne spend a lot of time talking about life. We hope we ended it on a high note, but please share with us your philosophies and ways of protesting, even the ones that are complicated!

Captain Planet isn't as popular as it once was, and somehow Anne and Kelly have completely different childhoods. What lessons did these two pieces of entertainment try to teach us, and do their messages resonate?

Anne's mic dies halfway through and then resurrects itself, Kelly's mic can hear her mouse clicking, but it's still a fun time!
