‘Whatever Mike Is’, an alternative artist from Southern Illinois with a self described genre he calls ‘Future Punk’, has been making music since he was a kid freestyling songs while doing chores around the casa. Before music, Mike wanted to be an author and was writing and illustrating short books at the age of 5 out of boredom. He wasn't aware that music was his passion until 8th grade after getting into a fight with a local rapper, which resulted in him being suspended. During his suspension, Mike wrote his first couple of raps and instantly fell in love with poetry. He started and was apart of rap crews in the Southern Illinois region throughout high school into college. Due to personal reasons, Mike took a hiatus, but continued to perfect his craft and never took a day off. On 2019, August 31st, Mike's nephew Terry Tillman was murdered in St. Louis, Missouri, by a Richmond Heights police officer after being chased off the mall property for a gun clip that was supposedly showing. Regardless, his nephew posed no threat to the officers and feared for his life as he ran away. No investigation, officer's name, or picture has been released since that day.
