If a band wanted to sell a lot of records, they had to make a decent video. And some bands & singers made GREAT videos. Most of the artists we talk about in this episode are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Is that a coincidence? Did these videos help to drive their success? It's quite possible. Mount Rushmore of Unbreakable Sports Records 🏀⚾ Sports are full of records. Single game records, season records, career records with hundreds of possibilities in between. Some records are broken every year. But others are so amazing, they just seem absolutely impossible to break. For this episode we decided to only take one record per sport that we felt will never be broken. And we left every sport on the table, not just the so-called big four sport leagues of the NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL. This made it fun and also challenging because we both agreed that we'd easily find multiple unbreakable records in the game of baseball alone. We each have a pick that falls OUTSIDE of those big four leagues and one of our records has stood for more than 83 years! Will it every be broken? We don't think so. Saturday Night Live, also known simply as SNL is launching it's 50th season in the fall of 2024. We decided this is a great time for us to list our Mount Rushmore of SNL Skits. We both grew up watching Saturday Night Live and are so amazed at the talent that has passed through those doors. Starting with the early days of Dan Aykroyd, John Belushi, Chevy Chase, Bill Murray to the '80s greats like Eddie Murphy, Billy Crystal and Martin Short. Quarterbacks are the leaders and field generals for any football team. They are often the glue that holds a winning team together, but also take most of the blame for losing teams. As lifelong NFL fans we had decades of quarterbacks to consider. A couple of our picks came very easy to each of us but we had to do some thinking to land on the others. The Minnesota State Fair attracts more than 2 million visitors each year and is the largest state fair in the country by daily attendance. We both have a unique perspective of the State Fair due to our work histories. It's safe to say we have been to the fair a lot more than the average Minnesotan. One of the main draws of the fair each year is the food and many of our own personal memories of the fair are tied to something we ate there... often on a stick. Some of the best songs in history tell a story. They could be as simple as a boy meets girl kind of story, or something deeper and more meaningful. A lot of songs are written to re-tell stories of events that actually happened in real life. This episode proved to be a very difficult one for us! We only had one rule... we had to pick one logo from each of the four major pro leagues: NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB. Our picks have nothing to do with liking or hating the teams. In this episode we tackle 1980s Comedy Movies. Some may say it was the last great decade of comedies. Think about all those classics! Movies like Airplane, Stripes, Trading Places, Ghostbusters, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Caddyshack, Uncle Buck, Spaceballs, Christmas Vacation, The Princess Bride, Big, Sixteen Candles and dozens more. WOW! We each had a very hard time narrowing it down to just FOUR picks. We grew up in the '80s and these movies are a big part of who we are.
