How Media Shapes Our Understanding of Poverty

Media representations influence public perception, and public perception influences policy, social attitudes, and lived experiences. Because of this, how poverty is represented matters.By questioning these representations and exploring alternative ways of understanding poverty, we can begin to shift the conversation. Poverty is not always dramatic or distant. Sometimes, it is quiet, persistent, and part of everyday life.
