This podcast is brought to you by EVolocity. EVolocity is a registered charity inspiring young Kiwis into sustainable engineering while fast-forwarding New Zealand’s clean-tech future. Since 2014, they’ve been providing year 7 to 13 students across New Zealand with an opportunity to design and build their own electric vehicles. After participating in interactive workshops (exploring topics like team planning, fabrication, and electronics), students compete against each other in a series of regional and national competitions that test the aerodynamic drag, speed, and maneuverability of their vehicles. Along the way, they learn about innovation, clean tech, and engineering. The purpose of this podcast series is to shed some light on women in the global STEM workforce.Women make up only 29% of the global STEM workforce. That must change. Women of Inspiration in STEM - Hannah Connolly
Hannah Connolly is a Network Engineer at Waipa Networks, where she hasbuilt a career spanning nearly two decades. Beginning as an electricalapprentice, Hannah became a registered electrician before continuing herstudies toward a Bachelor in Electrical Engineering.Since joining Waipa Networks in 2007, Hannah has held multiple positions,giving her a deep and practical understanding of the network. In her currentrole, she works across a wide range of responsibilities, including improvingsupply quality and modelling the network to ensure reliability andefficiency.Beyond her professional expertise, Hannah lives on a farm with her husbandand three children. She enjoys the balance of rural life-spending timeoutdoors, gardening, and running-bringing the same energy and dedication toher personal passions as she does to her engineering career.
