Woodhenge: A Little Miami Podcast

For the last episode of the fall semester, Mr. DeSanctis and Miss Frederick are joined by Mr. Wysong, a LMHS science teacher in his first year in the district. They chat about life as an administrator, plans for winter break, and some tasty side hustles!

The name of this podcast, "Woodhenge," honors one of the great Earthworks structures that sits silently under the ground where Little Miami High School now stands. For episode 13 Mr. DeSanctis and Miss Frederick are joined by Bob Genheimer from the Cincinnati Museum Center. Bob is the George Rieveschl Curator of Archaeology and an expert on the earthworks in the region, including the Stubbs Earthworks and the Woodhenge that once stood not far from where this podcast is recorded. As one of the archaeologists who worked on the site, Bob shares about his experiences working on this property and what we know about the cultures that inhabited this region many many years ago.

A multi sport athlete and standout student, Gabby Wilson has big dreams! Gabby joins Mr. DeSanctis and Miss Frederick to chat about moving to Ohio, playing basketball, and her goals of helping others.

With the goal of pursuing a career in music education, senior Sam Schmidt has explored music in all sorts of different avenues at Little Miami. Sam joined Mr. DeSanctis and Miss Frederick to talk about his roles in marching band, singing in different choirs, and who has inspired him on his musical journey!

LMHS Personal Finance Teacher and Baseball Coach Mr. Woodruff joins the podcast for the 10th installment! He joins Mr. DeSanctis and Miss Frederick to talk about his passion for finance, what it's like teaching in the same building as his wife, and his baseball career that led him to being the head coach at LMHS.

This week Mr. DeSanctis and Miss Frederick chat with junior Edie Loffer, who they've both had in class. Edie is involved in all sorts of different activities and stays busy with clubs, work, and softball. In this episode she talks about how she's able to stay on top of things, what she's looking forward to this year, and how you can take on her mindset.

Longtime LMHS math teacher and LMHS grad Mr. Lovins joins Mr. DeSanctis and Miss Frederick for this episode! A multi-sport athlete in high school, Lovins shares some insight about the evolution of LMHS and the rumored origins of our famed Rat Pack.

LMHS Junior Kyle Mangan was introduced to the idea of bull riding at a young age. Kyle joins Miss Frederick and Mr. DeSanctis to talk about his bull riding journey and spread some knowledge on the sport.

This week Mr. DeSanctis and Miss Frederick are joined by senior Mackenzie Evans. In addition to being an accomplished cross country runner, Mackenzie has received a few other honors including the chance to attend Girls State and more this summer!

Senior Alena Greulich joins the podcast to chat about her role as the corps commander in the Little Miami Air Force Junior ROTC program. Air Force JROTC is an elective where you learn about citizenship and life skills, and Alena has worked her way to be the student leader. With a goal of joining the military, she hopes to continue the ROTC path in college with big dreams.

Junior Jasmina Abduganieva joins Miss Frederick and Mr. DeSanctis to talk about some of the unique pieces of her journey to Little Miami and some of the biggest differences she sees living here. Originally from Uzbekistan, Jasmina has a story that you won't want to miss and some great insights about how she thinks you can be successful in high school.

Mr. DeSanctis and Miss Frederick sit down with assistant athletic director Rob Mason for a chat to get to know him better. The host of the successful "Panther Bites" podcast quickly turns the interview around to get to know the hosts just as well as they try and get to know the guest. Warning: Don't listen hungry.

Adrienne Sanders joined the LMHS team this summer as a new assistant principal. Mr. DeSanctis (DMA) and Miss Frederick (English) dive in about her time in education and some of her more interesting job experiences!
