Michael McCord inventor of microinsurance which now covers over 500 million people around  the world. Michael shares his story about the invention of this in Uganda, and his insights into the innovation needed to make this a valuable and sustainable risk management solution for billions of lower income people around the world. This is both a valuable interview for people wanting to innovate in insurance, understand the needs of the global poor, and for businesses that want to enter this market.  This week, I'm speaking with one of Steven' Haase's chief collaborators, Stan Golanski, who was an executive with the insurance company that created and underwrote this new technology risk, which would later become known as cyber insurance. So Stan has led numerous insurance organizations such as AIG's New Hampshire Insurance Company, XL Specialty, Intercargo Corporation, and over 18 years as CEO and President of The Navigators Group.  In my interview, Stan reveals some of the product developments and innovations he helped lead and some of the strategies for successful innovation and product development   .  Stan stresses the importance of understanding the customer's needs  and the importance of the excess and surplus lines in helping to meet those customer needs with new innovations. Because Stan has had such a storied career with so many developments, my first question to him was to give me what he felt were some of the highlights of his career.   

 So today on Working Through Risk, we're continuing to look at how innovation occurs in insurance to help solve some of society's emerging risk. And we'll focus, as we like to do from time to time, on some risk that many insurance professionals may consider to be uninsurable. I think at the end of this, we'll hopefully have a better understanding of the drivers of innovation and the role that people and culture play in its success. Today I'll be speaking with Kevin  Kelly .   Kevin is a serial innovator, a well known and respected industry leader and hall of fame recipient. He served in numerous leadership roles . Kevin is currently chairman of IQUW Holdings in Bermuda a member of the Board of Aegis Insurance.  Prior to that, he was vice  chair  of global solutions at Liberty Mutual. He was CEO of startup insurer, Iron Shore, which was eventually sold to Liberty Mutual , and he was CEO of AIG's Lexington Insurance Company. Kevin's had an amazing career, but we're going to cover a lot of ground with him today. With topics ranging from bio risk to rock and roll.
