What “Dysregulation” Actually Means and Why It’s Not a Personal Flaw
The word dysregulation is everywhere right now… on social media, in therapy spaces, in social conversations but it’s often misunderstood. Too often, it gets used in a way that feels like blaming or shaming, especially for neurodivergent people, trauma survivors, and caregivers who are already doing their best.In this episode, I talk about why this matters to you and how misunderstanding dysregulation can lead us to correct, control, or criticize ourselves or others, instead of offering support.I also share how this information helps by breaking down the nervous system in a clear, accessible way. My hope is that listeners can begin to:Recognize different nervous system states without fearUnderstand what their body is communicatingRespond with care and compassion instead of correctionSo, if you’ve ever felt like your reactions meant something was “wrong” with you, or if you support children, clients, or loved ones who struggle with regulation, I think this episode will resonate.Schedule your free consultation call with me by clicking here.Instagram: Iesha | Neurodivergent Family Support (@zenaromas.wellness) • Instagram photos and videosWebsite: Zen Aromas & Wellness | Holistic Wellness Practitioner

You’re Not Failing, Your Nervous System Is Protecting You
Have you ever wondered why your body reacts the way it does during overwhelm, shutdown, or emotional reactivity, even when you’re doing “all the right things”?In this episode of Yoga Beyond the Spectrum, we gently reframe a powerful truth: you’re not failing... your nervous system is doing its job.Designed for parents, caregivers, trauma survivors, and neurodivergent adults, this episode explores how behaviors often labeled as “dysregulation,” “defiance,” or “burnout” are actually protective survival responses rooted in the nervous system.Through a trauma-informed and neurodivergent-affirming lens, you’ll learn how to move away from shame and toward self-compassion, safety, and sustainable regulation. In This Episode, You’ll Learn:Why emotional reactivity, shutdown, and overwhelm are protective responses, not personal failuresHow the nervous system prioritizes safety over logic and productivityWhat happens in the body during fight, flight, freeze, and collapseGentle ways to support nervous system safety for yourself and your childThis episode is an invitation to stop fixing and start listening to your body, to your needs, and to your capacity, in this season.Who This Episode Is For:Parents of neurodivergent childrenAdults navigating burnout, overwhelm, or sensory overloadTrauma survivors seeking gentler healing practicesCaregivers who feel exhausted, reactive, or stuckAnyone who has internalized the belief that they’re “too much” or “not enough”Key Takeaway:Your nervous system isn’t broken. It’s wise. So, when you learn to work with it instead of against it, regulation becomes possible, without force, pressure, or shame.Work With MeI’m Iesha, a certified trauma-informed yoga practitioner specializing in neurodivergent-affirming care for children, adults, and families.
