    7. Resurrecting The Cronedom - Honoring An Cailleach during the Winter Season

In Your Cyclical Nature, Menstruation, Menopause, & the New Moon correlate with the season of Winter. Winter is also a Death Portal of Completion and Endings and the reign of An Cailleach — The Crone — The Wise, Wild One. Together, we are returning The Crone to Her Rightful Place of Honor & Reverence as we cross the threshold of the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere. The Crone is a guide we can call upon when in the Winter Season of our Cyclical Nature.  In this episode of Your Cyclical Nature, Teresa Biggs, DOM, board-certified Doctor of Oriental Medicine, Biologist, and advanced Yoga Teacher, speaks to The Crone as Guardian + Doula of Life and Death.  Teresa reviews the aspects present during Winter.  She then discusses the historical context and evolution of the term ‘Crone'. She noted that The Crone was initially a title of reverence, representing the Wise, Wild Woman and The Wisdom Keeper of her people. However, a distinct shift occurred from a title of Designation to degradation, during the time of demonization of the female Mystic and the subsequent Witch hunts — where millions of women were murdered.  She acknowledged that the term - Crone - might evoke unease due to the deep wounds it touches, such as fear of holding wisdom and authority. Teresa also touched on the modern depiction of the crone in Disney films, often as an ugly, evil, and malicious character. She suggested that this portrayal might be linked to The Crone's association with death and rebirth, as well as the trickster archetype.  Teresa also introduced the idea of The Crone as a death doula, guiding individuals through the process of giving a good death to aspects of themselves that are no longer in alignment.  She then lead a spacious meditation that provides space for you to meet with The Crone — The Wise, Wild One.  May you be supported during this Winter Season and beyond.
