Zachary Coffin Podcast - On Starting Over, India Rising, Global Entertainment and More

Starting OverDo you think about starting over? In another country perhaps? What's it really like...inside and out.The podcast is certainly not about visas and regulations. It’s about personal transformation. This is first and foremost a philosophical/spiritual exploration of what it means to…change. In a very big way. A uniquely human way.I want to connect these 'new self' stories with deep themes. It's not simply about narrating someone's journey. But rather... What does 'home' mean? Who are you becoming? Would you do it again? This is an inner journey, revealed through an outer one.

'FAN' Movie CENSORED Scene: What Really Happened, with Shah Rukh Khan & Zachary Coffin

Here's an interview about my experience working with Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan for the Yash Raj film "Fan" -- and specifically a scene you never saw in the cinema hall! -- This clip is from a wide-ranging discussion with Indus_Lens about global media, the Indian entertainment industry, film/theatre/OTT, Bollywood's past and India's future! Watch the entire playlist of interview clips at -- https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsFgZW_F_6JKFK4fzEt26o776qP95XQZW -- Unfortunately, this scene in the jail cell from 'Fan' was rejected by the Indian Censor Board because of gross profanity and verbal abuses. It never made the version of the movie that was seen by millions in cinema halls. But, you can see this censored/deleted scene online at YRF's channel here -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VfrFZ-2m3fA -- For trivia buffs... We improvised the whole scene, no script, and my dialogue consisted of only two things: (1) "Give me a cigarette" and (2) Provoking SRK's character with a LOT of racial abuses. The deleted scene (released on YRF's YouTube channel) has been edited thoroughly to remove all the abuses! In fact, the abuses in the original were so many that the scene was rejected by the censor board. But then, when you eliminate all the abuses, the only thing left is my saying the same thing -- "Just one cigarette!" -- over and over again haha! ALSO: I have to mention that in the original scene, SRK and I had a full fist fight! And I even landed two good punches! ALL GONE sadly -- aaargh! -- Here's how it was reported by India Today at the time (https://www.indiatoday.in/movies/bollywood/story/shah-rukh-khans-fan-suffers-7-cuts-at-the-censor-boards-hands-315860-2016-04-01) -- 'Reports in the media hint at six verbal cuts and one visual cut for Shah Rukh Khan's tale of the obsessive stalker Gaurav Chanana, and his idol Aryan Khanna. A scene where Gaurav is in the lock-up, being beaten ruthlessly by police officials, was found very long, and the Censor Board ordered it to be reduced by 50 per cent. DNA has quoted a source as saying, "The scene of prolonged violence in lock-up where one Shah Rukh Khan urges the cops to beat up the other Shah Rukh was found to be unnecessarily prolonged. The Censor Board has asked for the sequence to be reduced by 50 per cent." The verbal cuts ordered by the Censor Board are mostly English and Hindi expletives.' -- So, basically, after all the cuts ordered by the censor board, the scene was deleted :/ -- But, truly grateful for the experience -- fighting with (being flung by) @iamSRK himself! A career high! Thanks, Lord, for the thrill of fighting with SRK -- and then for the ego check of deleting my scene! ;) -- And here's an amazing tweet from @iamsrk about our working together on our scene -- https://twitter.com/iamsrk/status/541745123730538496 -- From YRF -- "A superstar here, a criminal in a foreign land. What happens when the biggest superstar has to be spent a day in lock up? Watch this deleted scene. Movie: Fan Starring: Shah Rukh Khan Director: Maneesh Sharma Producer: Aditya Chopra Director of Photography: Manu Anand Release Date: 15 April 2016 -- Shot on stage at Yash Raj Films studio, Mumbai. -- 'FAN' movie Interview: The CENSORED Jail Cell Scene - What Really Happened, with Shah Rukh Khan & Zachary Coffin #SRK #deletedscene #ZacharyCoffin -- Subscribe: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=ZacharyCoffinPage ZacharyCoffin (ZC/ZackCoffin/ZACK/ज़ैक/ज़ैकरीकॉफिन/ஸ்ஸேக்/ذکي/ЗахариКоффин/ザッカリーコッフィン/高富成) http://www.IMDb.me/ZacharyCoffin http://www.Instagram.com/ZacharyCoffinPage http://www.Facebook.com/ZacharyCoffinPage http://www.YouTube.com/ZacharyCoffinPage http://www.LinkedIn.com/in/ZacharyCoffin http://www.Twitter.com/ZacharyCoffin http://ZacharyCoffin.Tumblr.com -- *Fair Use/Fair Dealing of Footage for Non-Fiction Documentation of Career*

You also teach acting at Whistling Woods. In the last decade or so, Indian schools and colleges have witnessed a rise in theatre in the curriculum, introducing youngsters to the artform. Moreover, inspired by theatre groups producing iconic actors like Irrfan Khan, Naseeruddin Shah, Rajjkumar Rao, Anupam Kher, India is witnessing a rise in private theatre groups and acting institutes. How do you think this evolving culture might create a change in the industry? 4. How would you contrast Indian cinema with global cinema beyond the distinct use of music and dance sequences? Considering the diverse themes and focus points of regional cinemas within India, how do these variations influence India's positioning in the international film landscape? 5. Do you believe that the diverse cinematic content from India, like Bollywood's music-driven movies popular in Southeast Asia, the global success of the animated series 'Chhota Bheem' on Netflix, and the growing appeal of South Indian films in the US and UAE for their storytelling and action, provides Indian filmmakers with unique opportunities to captivate a broader global audience? 6. How has India's large population influenced its role in the global box office scenario, particularly regarding the popularity of Hollywood franchises like Marvel and Disney, where Indian audiences have become a significant target market? 7. How do you perceive the evolving global presence of Indian cinema, especially with Indian actors taking pivotal roles in international films and Indian movies like 'RRR' garnering worldwide acclaim for their cinematography and music? ... 12. Could you share your experiences working alongside Bollywood icons like Priyanka Chopra, Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, and Shahrukh Khan, and reveal if there was any particular co-star you especially enjoyed working with? Additionally, with your background in direction and filmmaking, do you have any plans to pursue these fields in the near future? -- 'The Indian Entertainment Industry' - Interview from India Podcast w/IndusLens & Zachary Coffin #zacharycoffin #interview #podcast India, interview, future, futurism, futurist, Bharat, chat, discussion, IndusLens, Hollywood, entertainment industry, media industry, Shah Rukh Khan, AKvarious, Baghdad Wedding, evil white guy, theatre, OTT, streaming, immigration, Mumbai, globalization, pan-Indian film -- Subscribe: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=ZacharyCoffinPage ZC ZacharyCoffin (ZC/ZackCoffin/ZACK/ज़ैक/ज़ैकरीकॉफिन/ஸ்ஸேக்/ذکي/ЗахариКоффин/ザッカリーコッフィン/高富成) http://www.IMDb.me/ZacharyCoffin http://www.Instagram.com/ZacharyCoffinPage http://www.Facebook.com/ZacharyCoffinPage http://www.YouTube.com/ZacharyCoffinPage http://www.LinkedIn.com/in/ZacharyCoffin http://www.Twitter.com/ZacharyCoffin --

'Breaking into Bollywood' - American Actor in India Zachary Coffin | Voice of America Documentary

Documentary Short on Zachary Coffin | 'Breaking into Bollywood' | American Actor in India | VoA+ 52 Documentary -- Short doc about my adventures in Mumbai! :) As broadcaster  VOANews puts it -- "In this short documentary, Coffin describes in gushing detail how he has lived up to the part." -- Watch in HD at -- https://youtu.be/ea6cX6-l-Mw -- 'Breaking into Bollywood' made its streaming debut on OTT platform VOA+ on May 26, 2022. https://www.voanews.com/a/breaking-into-bollywood/6589049.html -- Many thanks to the '52 Documentary' Team from Voice of America (VOA/VOA+) -- Producer Juliane Wilkinson Camera Kedar Sonigra Editor Justin Goncalves Senior Executive Producer Euna Lee Commissioning Editor Jun Stinson -- Partial Transcript: "The more successful the villain, the more successful the movie. 70% of the acting work I've done here has been British Raj, arrogant officers. Or, you know, evil drug dealers from America. Or Russian scientist. It's something. You get the point? It's like the inverse of Hollywood. For years and years, Hollywood made the other people villains. And Americans were like the heroes. Well, as you might expect, Indians want to be heroes in their own movies. And the white guy, For some good colonial reasons -- let's put it that way -- is viewed sometimes as the evil guy. And I guess I had that look Hi, my name is Zachary coffin and I am an actor. I grew up in San Francisco and then I moved to New York and then to L.A. Then I did a lot of traveling. I worked in about 30 countries as a consultant -- and not as an actor -- before I ended up in India. Mumbai is an amazing city. It's the second densest city in the world. And it's mostly migrants. 75% of the people who live here have come from somewhere else. And so you have this enormous energy of people who want to do something. They've got dreams. And they're living in the jungle. Even though there's concrete and all that, it's a city, but it's really a thousand villages. It's all squished together. A day in the life in India is not like any other day. India is so full of uncertainty. And then I'm an actor. And being in the entertainment industry is also full of uncertainty. So it's kind of like exponential levels of uncertainty. It's nerve- wracking and exhilarating and stressful, but something in me enjoys it." -- Released by Voice of America (VOA): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EAtfddaoFs "52 Documentary is a new weekly documentary series of Voice of America (VOA), the largest U.S. international broadcaster, providing news and information in more than 40 languages to an estimated weekly audience of 236.8 million people. Zachary Coffin: Introducing the 'Starting Over' Show

Do you think about starting over? In another country perhaps? What's it really like...inside and out. The podcast is certainly not about visas and regulations. It’s about personal transformation. This is first and foremost a philosophical/spiritual exploration of what it means to…change. In a very big way. A uniquely human way. I want to connect these 'new self' stories with deep themes. It's not simply about narrating someone's journey. But rather... What does 'home' mean? Who are you becoming? Would you do it again? This is an inner journey, revealed through an outer one.
