Born the year of the 12” (1976), Brooklyn raised DJ Spacey Sissickwas nourished on a steady diet of the beauty that came from the strife of NYC’s last Golden age of culture. Disco kids, b-boys and graffiti drenched subway lines were all awe inspiring in equal measure to his impressionable senses. This all culminates into the artist he is today. Mel has been spinning under various guises for over 12 years. Vinyl is all he thinks about. It doesn’t help that he is the buyer & manager of one of New York’s best record stores (infinityrecords.net), so he has boundless access to music from all areas & time. Taking the cue from his forefathers before him; (Mancuso, Levan, Arthur Russell, Ron Hardy, The Symlonylon crew), Spacey crafts deeps mixes that cram together late 70’s – mid 90’s NYC, Chicago, and Detroit streetsounds along with new music that takes inspiration from those scenes.
