My Experience with Orthorexia with Dr. Lara Zibarras
I was 16 years old when I first tried to lose weight. That was the beginning of 8 years of struggling with food and emotional eating. I tried everything: Atkins, low fat, juice diets, extreme restriction. Eventually, my disordered eating, starvation, bingeing, and purging led to a full-blown eating disorder. I was so stuck in the “good” food, “bad” food mindset. My days are consumed with counting calories or grams of fat, and punishing workouts. I was exhausted and had had enough. Finally…I learnt the science and psychology behind the negative spiral of food struggles, binges and emotional eating; about toxic diet culture; and I started to shift to a health mindset Follow Dr.Lara: INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/drlarazib/ WEBSITE: https://drlarazib.com/ FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/groups/foodfreedomwithdrlarazib YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/c/drlarazib LINKTREE: https://lnk.bio/drlarazib If you would like to share your story and help inspire others or have a perspective on Mental Health, please contact me for our conversation. The Wounded Child with Dr. Betsy Chung
I help you understand your childhood relationships and teach you how to stop them from hurting your adult ones. When children are emotionally and mentally injured, neglected, or even abused in childhood, those inner wounds never heal. The child may act out, including having temper tantrums, facing challenges in making friends, and remaining suspicious of the motives of others. Questions: 1. I often struggle to trust people in a relationship, but I trust other people I meet. Why is this happening? 2. Becoming rebellious Teen/Adult – How do we become a Rebel when we were good children growing up? 3. Why do I always feel guilty of my progress, regardless of how great things may be, where is this fear/feeling coming from? 4. Why do we do to people what was done to us? i.e a child who was beaten by their father, will most likely beat their child even if they love them 5. “I remember not being able to express my anger growing up” Do you think this is why I find it hard to be happier? 6. Why do I feel like I need to be the centre of attention all the time? 7. People used to say “You are so mature for my age” is this because I had no choice? 8. Why do I keep finding myself in a dysfunctional relationship?
