    Author and human rights/LGBTQ+ advocate, Michael Caputo returns to the show from NYC.  In July 2020, he joined us to discuss his autobiography, Dear Pat Cooper, about his journey with a loving family and an absent father.   This time, he's back to discuss his second book, Chameleon: A Memoir.  In this memoir, Michael shows us another side of  himself, in which he vividly describes his harrowing journey coming out of the closet and living authentically, post-Stonewall, pre-HIV/AIDS epidemic, and thereafter.  Michael writes, "I went from being an innocent altar boy to an older gay man caught up in the middle of the John Travolta sex scandal that put me on the front page of the Daily News and written up in People magazine and the National Enquirer....Once I let go of all that guilt that I grew up with and embraced my true self instead of hiding it, I started to live and enjoy my life."   Minerva & Ruben share a new place in Mexico.

Marie-Therese Connolly will join us from Washington, D.C., for a discussion on Ageism in the healthcare system,  elder justice, and her new book, The Measure of Our Age. MT is a leading national expert on elder justice who was awarded a MacArthur "genius" grant for her work that has shaped policy, research, and practice for decades. She was the architect of the federal Elder Justice Act, founding head of DOJ's Elder Justice Initiative (that helped to shape the 2015 White House Conference on Aging, National Center on Elder Abuse priorities), lead author of the Elder Justice Roadmap, and co-designer of the new community-based RISE model, a new holistic advocacy-based, harm reduction program for older people. This book is about Jake's experience as one of the "Original 21ers," a group of young African- American workers who challenged the largest West Coast U.S. naval base to provide equal opportunities and wages… and they won, influencing the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.

In addition, to her podcast, Marsha has a facebook group, Murdered by Hospice, that gives victims' families a safe place to share their tragedies and ask questions.  Marsha's goal is to inform the public, so that more informed decisions can be made without falling pray to manipulation.

    We'll be joined by Michelle Young Doers to discuss her book, Killing for Profit: The Dark Side of Hospice.  Michelle is a respiratory therapist who served for 5 years on the ethics committees of 4 major hospitals, she was a clinical instructor, and she worked on the front lines of health care during the SARS outbreak and the swine flu outbreak.  In her work, she has played an important role in the living and/or dying of patients with prolonged illnesses and decisions about hospice.  The point of her book is not to say that all hospice is bad.  In fact, the concept of hospice is great. But, she will discuss the big business of hospice and how to prepare yourself for such a huge decision without being marketed to and manipulated.

    Author and human rights/LGBTQ+ advocate, Michael Caputo returns to the show from NYC.  In July 2020, he joined us to discuss his autobiography, Dear Pat Cooper, about his journey with a loving family and an absent father.   This time, he's back to discuss his second book, Chameleon: A Memoir.  In this memoir, Michael shows us another side of  himself, in which he vividly describes his harrowing journey coming out of the closet and living authentically, post-Stonewall, pre-HIV/AIDS epidemic, and thereafter.  Michael writes, "I went from being an innocent altar boy to an older gay man caught up in the middle of the John Travolta sex scandal that put me on the front page of the Daily News and written up in People magazine and the National Enquirer....Once I let go of all that guilt that I grew up with and embraced my true self instead of hiding it, I started to live and enjoy my life."   Minerva & Ruben share a new place in Mexico.
