BackgroundDr Sid’s energy on stage is that of a billion watts. Bouncing up and down international stages, wiggling his waistline to a sea of screaming girls is quite the norm for this Lagos -born entertainer. Full name, Sidney Onoriode Esiri, (stage name DR Sid) was born May 1, 1980 in Ikeja, Lagos state, Nigeria. He is a Nigerian singer-songwriter and Dentist, originally from Delta state, but raised in Lagos. Sid, who traded in his dentistal surgeon qualification for the music business, hence the ‘DR’ part of his name, comes from a family of creatives. His mother a successful fashion designer and his father, the legendary actor Justus Esiri who is an Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), and famous for his role as the Village Headmaster a Nigerian sitcom popular in the 1980s. The second child of 4 children, Sid, from an early age had his heart set on becoming an entertainer. However his life took a different course after graduating from the Nigerian Air force Secondary school
