Great storytellers ought to be impeccable, telling truthful stories that have a positive influence on the storyteller and others. Avoid telling stories that hurt other people because every storyteller has his way of looking at things, and this says more about them than you. Let your stories truly acknowledge the stories of other storytellers without attaching those stories to yourself.

And once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it  through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure whether the  storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the  storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. HARUKI MURAKAMI

The hero symbolizes a man’s unconscious self, and this manifests itself  empirically as the sum total of all archetypes and therefore includes  the archetype of the father and of the wise old man.
