Today, we’re looking at work done and energy transfer — a really important concept that connects forces, movement, and energy.[What is Work Done?]Work is done when a force is applied to an object and it makes the object move in the direction of the force.If you push against a wall and nothing moves, no work is done.But if you push a box and it slides across the floor, work is being done.Work done is just another way of describing energy being transferred from one store to another.[The Formula]The equation for work done is:Work done (W)=Force (F)×Distance (s)Work done (W)=Force (F)×Distance (s)Work done is measured in joules (J).Force is measured in newtons (N).Distance is measured in metres (m).One joule is the work done when a force of one newton moves something one metre.[Example Question]Imagine you push a box with a force of 14 newtons across the floor for 12 metres.𝑊=𝐹×𝑠=14×12=168 JW=F×s=1
