Last Orders: Glasgow's Haunted Nightclub
It was meant to be empty. After closing time, with the doors locked and the building cleared, staff began noticing things that didn’t quite fit. A face appearing briefly above the bar, as if someone had lifted themselves just enough to look over before dropping back out of sight. A glass shelf, fixed securely in place, shifting in a way that didn’t make sense. Nothing dramatic. Nothing that could be easily explained either. These weren’t stories told years later or passed through word of mouth. They came from people who worked there - people familiar with the space, who knew what was normal and what wasn’t. In this episode, we’re looking at a nightclub in Glasgow where something continued to be seen, even when it should have been empty.

Hidden Haunts: Paranormal Reports from Scotland’s Ruined Castles
Scotland is home to more than two thousand recorded castles. Some are well known. Others are easy to miss - broken walls in the landscape, visited by only a handful of people at a time. In this episode, we’re focusing on three of those lesser-known sites: Auchindoun, Drumin, and Kildrummy. All within the same part of the country. All tied to the same stretch of history. And all connected to experiences people have struggled to account for. From reports of a child crying within the ruins of Auchindoun, to unexplained footsteps on the narrow staircase of Drumin, to sightings of a figure standing briefly in the courtyard at Kildrummy - the accounts are subtle, brief, and often difficult to explain. These aren’t places normally described as some of Scotland’s most haunted. And that’s what makes the accounts so interesting. Taken individually, each one is small. A sound. A movement. A figure glimpsed and then gone. But taken together, across multiple sites within such a small area, a different picture begins to form. Not of a single haunting, but of something broader. Something tied not just to the buildings, but to the ground they stand on.

Haunted Perth: Ghost Stories from Crieff
When people think of Scotland’s major battles, places like Bannockburn or Culloden usually come to mind. But just outside the town of Crieff, there’s another battlefield that doesn’t get the same attention - Sheriffmuir. In 1715, two armies met there during the Jacobite rising. By the end of the day, neither side had won. Both claimed victory, but the outcome settled nothing. The campaign stalled, and what followed wasn’t a clean retreat or a clear defeat - it was something far less defined. And that aftermath didn’t stay on the battlefield. In this episode, we look at what happened next - not just the history, but the accounts that have been reported in and around Crieff since. From repeated sightings of a man standing at the roadside along the A85, to a strange figure seen on a path at the edge of town, and the long-standing reports tied to Ferntower House. These aren’t well-known stories, and some are being shared here for the first time. Most come from people who experienced something, tried to make sense of it, and were left with more questions than answers. I’d also like to thank Scott for passing on his family’s account, and for taking the time to share the details behind it. Stories like that don’t always make it beyond a small circle, so having it sent through made a real difference when putting this episode together.

The Amherst Haunting: Canada's most notorious poltergeist case
In 1878, in the small town of Amherst, Nova Scotia, a series of strange events began inside the home of a young woman named Esther Cox. At first, it was the sound of knocking. Then objects started to move. Fires broke out without warning. What began as a private disturbance quickly became something much larger, drawing in neighbours, reporters, and even men described at the time as “scientific gentlemen,” all trying to make sense of what was happening inside the house on Church Street. Some believed Esther was at the centre of it. Others thought something else was at work entirely. Over the following months, the case would escalate to the point that Esther herself was brought before the courts - not as a witness, but as the accused. In this episode, we take a closer look at the Amherst Poltergeist, exploring the events as they were recorded at the time, the people who witnessed them, and the question that still sits at the centre of the case: what, if anything, was really happening in that house?

The Night Shift: True Hauntings from Scotland’s Hospitals and Care Homes
Hospitals are built around routine, vigilance, and care. By day they are busy, practical places filled with staff, patients, and visitors moving constantly through corridors and wards. But the atmosphere can change after midnight. Lights are dimmed. Visiting hours end. Activity narrows to smaller teams carrying out the steady work of monitoring, observation, and care through the night. It’s during those hours that many of the strangest experiences reported by medical staff seem to occur. In this episode, I share a series of first-hand accounts from people who have worked night shifts in hospitals and care settings across Scotland. These are not hollywood ghost stories, but brief encounters that happened during otherwise ordinary shifts, incidents that stayed with the people who experienced them long after the night ended. These accounts come from environments defined by pressure, exhaustion, vigilance, and proximity to death. Whether they are the result of stress, suggestion, shared culture, or something more difficult to explain remains open to interpretation. But across different hospitals and across generations of staff, similar stories continue to come to light. Share your experience! I’m currently researching a book focused on unexplained experiences reported in hospitals, care homes, and other care settings across Scotland and the wider UK. If you’re a current or former member of staff or if you’ve had an experience as a patient or relative that stayed with you, I’d genuinely like to hear from you. email me at: [email protected] All correspondence will be treated with discretion and respect.

The Law & the Supernatural: When Ghost Stories Enter the Record
In this episode, we look at the 1897 Greenbrier Ghost case - the only known instance where a mother’s account of her daughter’s haunting helped reopen a murder investigation - and the 1925 Chaffin Will incident, where a family dispute took an unexpected turn after a son claimed his late father had returned with instructions. These aren’t the usual stories about figures in corridors or unexplained noises. They’re cases where something people couldn’t easily explain ended up shaping real decisions - the sort that left traces in court papers and official records that still exist today. We’ll look at what actually happened in both cases, why they were taken seriously at the time, and how belief, memory, and determination shaped the outcomes far more than spectacle or superstition. If you enjoy episodes that balance folklore with documented history, this one’s for you.

Grange House: A Forgotten Edinburgh Haunting
Hidden in what is now one of Edinburgh’s most genteel neighbourhoods once stood a house that few people today remember - and fewer still ever saw. Grange House was demolished in 1936, but long before that it had acquired a reputation that set it apart from other old Edinburgh estates. Built on the site of a medieval monastic grange, expanded over centuries, and eventually used as both a private home and a school for young women, the house sat quietly on the edge of the city while stories slowly gathered around it. In this episode, I look at the history of the Grange, the house itself, and the events that made it one of Edinburgh’s most overlooked hauntings. Also, I am working on a project about experiences in healthcare in Scotland. If you have a true, first-hand account of a haunting in a hospital or care home anywhere in Scotland, I’d really like to hear from you. You can get in touch at [email protected]

The White Lady of Comiston: A Haunting in Edinburgh
On the southern edge of Edinburgh, Comiston looks like any other quiet residential suburb. But beneath its pavements, paths, and housing estates lies a much older story - one filled with prehistoric burial sites, lost landscapes, folklore, and a figure that has been reported for over a century. The White Lady of Comiston is a woman in pale clothing, seen along the same route, across different generations. From Robert Louis Stevenson’s 19th-century account, to the school sighting in 1965, and later reports in the 1980s, the White Lady of Comiston has appeared across generations along the same route. Listen to learn her story.

A Christmas Ghost Story: Omens at Midwinter
Not all Christmas ghost stories have frightening apparitions or ghostly chaints rattling. Sometimes these stories begin with something simpler — a sound beneath a room, figures moving across a field, or a moment that only makes sense later on. In this Christmas episode, I explore two Scottish Midwinter hauntings recorded in the nineteenth century, both linked to Christmas and both rooted in firsthand experience rather than folklore built up over time. The first takes place at the historic Cortachy Castle, where guests and travellers reported hearing unexplained drumming during the Christmas period - a sound the Airlie family believed appeared only when a death in the family was approaching. The second comes from the Highlands, where villagers spoke of figures seen playing games in the snow near a parish church on Christmas Day, returning year after year as part of a story tied to a specific place and a long-remembered transgression. Thank you for spending part of your Christmas here, and for supporting the channel throughout the year. Lang may yer lum reek.

Haunted Dolls: The Strange Case of Peggy
Peggy the Doll isn’t an old legend pulled from folklore, or a relic tied to some distant tragedy. She’s a modern case - one that unfolded in real time, among investigators, witnesses, and viewers who found themselves reacting in ways they couldn’t easily explain. First brought to wider attention in 2015, Peggy became associated with reports of physical and emotional reactions - headaches, nausea, anxiety, and a deep sense of unease - sometimes experienced simply by seeing her, even through a screen. At the centre of the case was paranormal investigator Jayne Harris, known for her careful, methodical approach to unusual claims. In this episode, we explore Peggy’s story from the beginning - her unusual origin in a garden shed in Sheffield, the investigation that followed, and why this case continues to sit in that uneasy space between psychology and the unexplained. Rather than chasing easy answers, this is a look at patterns, witness testimony, and the limits of what we can confidently explain. Peggy’s story is featured in A Cursed Collection of Haunted Dolls by Fiona Dodwell - a thoughtful, well-researched book that examines haunted doll cases with care and balance. Fiona kindly allowed me to feature Peggy’s account in this episode. 📘 A Cursed Collection of Haunted Dolls – Fiona Dodwell Available now from all major booksellers, including here: https://amzn.eu/d/8VyEArF

The haunting of Lochmaben: Does a Vampire stalk the Bruce’s Castle?
Lochmaben Castle is one of Scotland’s most historic strongholds. It's a site tied to the Bruces, medieval warfare, rebellion, and some of the strangest stories to come out of Dumfriesshire. In this episode, we explore the history of the castle before looking at the modern accounts that have made Lochmaben one of the area’s most talked-about haunted locations. From the 12th-century tale of a medieval revenant, to legends of a phantom drummer boy, a ghostly horseman patrolling the loch’s edge, and the chilling modern encounter reported by investigator Tom Robertson in 1991, the site has gathered stories across centuries. This episode takes a closer look at where those stories come from – and what might be behind them.

Haunted Ireland: The Kennedy Family's Haunted Irish Hideaway
Tonight’s story comes from my new book Hidden Haunts: Ireland - a collection of lesser-known ghost stories, local legends, and accounts that have rarely, if ever, been written down. This episode takes us to Woodstown House in County Waterford, a place better known for its famous guests than its ghosts. But behind the grand rooms and local reputation lies something far stranger - a series of experiences shared by several people who lived and worked there. You’ll hear Chrissie’s account of strange activity in the kitchen, the sense of being watched in the annex apartment, and the night she woke to a cold presence in her room. You’ll hear what the gardener told her on her last day, and the disturbing experiences he had in the very same rooms. And you’ll meet Catherine, whose encounters along the driveway and inside the house suggest that whatever lingers there is far older than any modern history. These are stories rarely spoken aloud - the kind that drift quietly through a community until they’re finally written down. If you’d like to read the full chapter, along with many more Irish hauntings that have never appeared in guidebooks or popular folklore, Hidden Haunts: Ireland is available now on Amazon: https://amzn.eu/d/cjxWLFz Thank you, as always, for watching, supporting the channel, and keeping these overlooked stories alive.

The Possession Files: The "Johnathon" Possession
The final chapter in a chilling true story of a haunting that refused to be left behind. In this concluding episode, we follow John - a down to earth, practical man - as the strange disturbances that began at a remote industrial site grow darker, more personal… and more violent. What started with flying stones and cryptic messages soon evolved into something far more invasive: objects moved on their own, threatening notes appeared from nowhere, and witnesses began to feel - a presence they couldn’t explain. And then came Jonathon. A name scratched into plaster. A figure glimpsed from the corner of the eye. A warning, delivered through terror. John’s journey will take him from poltergeist chaos to something much harder to define - and impossible to forget. Want to explore more true accounts of hauntings? The Possession Files: True accounts of possession in Scotland
In this feature length episode, we look at real historical cases from Scotland where possession was recorded - not the Hollywood kind, but the kind found in parish records, court transcripts, and old ministerial accounts. Some of these cases are deeply unsettling: people who claimed to see spirits, to be tormented in their sleep, to speak with voices not their own. Others sit somewhere between faith, fear, and mental collapse. Through a modern lens, they might be seen as illness or trauma - but at the time, they were believed to be evidence of possession. These are not Hollywood exorcisms or invented horrors. They’re stranger than that - real moments from Scottish history where belief in the unseen was part of everyday life, and where the line between the spiritual and the psychological was far less clear. Join me as we revisit these forgotten records, from the Canongate Tolbooth to Bargarran, and ask what these cases might still tell us about how people experience fear, faith, and the unknown.

The Possession Files: The Devils Girl
Welcome to The Possession Files - a three-part Halloween series investigating real historical accounts of alleged possession. These aren’t tales of spinning heads or Hollywood demons, but stories drawn from documented cases where something darker and far harder to explain seemed to take hold. In this opening episode, we travel to Romania to examine the extraordinary story of Elenore Zugun - one of the real-life cases said to have inspired the 1973 film The Exorcist. Branded ‘The Devil’s Girl,’ Elenore became, between 1925 and 1927, the centre of one of Europe’s most unsettling and well-documented hauntings. Stones flew, objects moved, and witnesses swore unseen forces were at work. The case has fascinated me for decades, and it sets the tone for the episodes to follow. As the series continues, The Possession Files will return to Scotland, exploring centuries-old records where possession was more than myth - from documented exorcisms to 16th-century cases that still echo through history.

Dark Miles II: The Haunted Road to the highlands
The A9 is Scotland’s longest road, stretching through the heart of the Highlands. It’s a route travelled daily by thousands — but it also carries a darker reputation. In this follow-up to my episode on the haunted A75, Dark Miles, I trace the length of the A9, uncovering ghost stories that cling to the road and the landscapes around it. From death omens in Pitlochry and the witch of Beinn a’ Ghlo, to phantom whistles in Glen Tilt and a modern woman in white near Drumossie Brae, the accounts are as varied as they are disturbing. While the story follows the road north, I also take some detours into places I know well and love to walk — glens, mountains, and old haunts where folklore and personal memory blur. What emerges is not just a road of traffic and tarmac, but one that seems to carry echoes of history, oppression, and tragedy.

Haunted Glasgow: The Ghosts of Blythswood Square
Blythswood Square sits at the heart of Glasgow’s Georgian New Town - elegant, symmetrical, and steeped in history. But behind the sandstone facades, the square holds a darker story. In this episode, we explore a haunting said to be tied to one of Scotland’s most infamous court cases: the 1857 trial of Madeleine Smith. Her secret affair with Pierre L’Angelier ended in scandal and death, and although the verdict was “Not Proven,” the questions never truly faded. Nor, it seems, did the presence of those involved. We look at ghost stories stretching across decades: strange smells, silent corridors, footsteps in locked rooms, and apparitions that appear to walk not just through buildings — but through time itself. Some of the tales link directly to Madeleine’s story. Others seem older, or completely separate, yet share the same unnerving details. A woman in white gliding past closed doors. A child’s scream. A figure in Victorian dress vanishing into a wall. This is a square shaped as much by memory as by architecture. And whether you believe in ghosts or not, some places leave a mark that doesn’t easily fade.

Bruegel’s Book and the Man in the Hallway: Untold Ghost Stories from Edinburgh
As featured in Tales from the Crypts of Auld Reekie by John Tantalon What if one of the most haunted streets in Edinburgh wasn’t in the Old Town, but found just beyond the Meadows — overlooked, residential, and never mentioned in ghost tour scripts? This episode explores the eerie happenings of Arden Street, a seemingly ordinary road in Marchmont with a long history of unsettling events. From spectral footsteps and phantom dogs to frightening apparitions and a mysterious book of Bruegel prints, these stories draw from real first-hand accounts gathered over years. I originally wrote this chapter for Tales from the Crypts of Auld Reekie, a brilliant collection of Edinburgh hauntings compiled by John Tantalon and featuring contributions from Graeme Milne, Kerrie Powell, Scott Lyal and Joss Cameron. If you’d like to explore the full book, Tales from the Crypts of Auld Reekie is available now on Amazon.

The Tomb and the Tower: The Ghosts of Haunted Alloa
Beneath the streets of Alloa lies a history far stranger than most realise. In this episode, we explore the layered past of a small Scottish town once tied to kings, conflict, and industry—and the eerie stories that have emerged from its most forgotten corners. From the imposing walls of Alloa Tower, where ghostly figures are said to appear in dungeons, bedrooms, and echoing stairwells, to the rediscovered tomb of a long-vanished family whose final resting place seems anything but still, this is a journey through places where memory clings to stone. What begins as a story of heritage and architecture slowly shifts into something darker—accounts of unseen presences, unexplained cold spots, and a lone figure spotted near the cemetery gates. Disturbances that might be easily dismissed—if they weren’t so consistent. Hauntings don’t always come with a name or a face. Sometimes they’re found in the silence that follows a rediscovery, or in the places where the past was meant to stay buried.

The Paisley Poltergeist: The Glenburn Haunting
In this episode, we turn to Glenburn, a quiet area in Paisley, Renfrewshire—where in the 1980s, a family reported a series of disturbing and unexplained events. What began with strange noises soon escalated into something far more intense: loud crashes with no source, doors slamming, and a deep sense of unease that seemed permeate throughout the property. Neighbours heard nothing, but friends of Alan - the young boy who lived in the flat - experienced something that nearly ended in tragedy and ultimately brought in the local authorities. Was it a classic poltergeist case - focused around one member of the household? Or, was it something psychological? Join me as we explore the documented reports, eyewitness accounts, and theories behind one of Scotland’s lesser-known but compelling hauntings. If you enjoy stories of real-life hauntings, don’t forget to like, subscribe, and share your thoughts or experiences in the comments.

The White Lady and the Chained Grave: Ghost Stories from Scotland’s Southern Uplands
There’s something about the land around Sanquhar that feels… different. The fields have an atmosphere to them, as if the place is waiting for something. And when the light starts to fade behind the broken walls of Sanker Castle, the stories don’t just feel like stories anymore - they come to life. There are accounts from the east stairwell. Of a woman seen at the top - tall, dressed in white, wringing her hands. They call her the White Lady. She’s been part of the local memory for as long as anyone can remember. In life she is thought to have been Marion of Dalpeddar, a noblewoman who entered the castle in 1590 and never came out. No burial. No record of her death. Just witness sightings, passed down through the years - until, centuries later, a skeleton was discovered hidden deep within the stone. This is her story - and the shadow she’s left behind. The episode also looks at the case of John Wilson, a servant caught between two powerful rivals. He was executed the same year Marion disappeared, and some say his ghost remains. Move beyond the castle walls and there are more reports of hauntings. There’s talk of a phantom pedlar still walking the old path near the Deil’s Stone. Witches were said to live in the area and down by Crawick Water, they say a great black dog waits in the dark - watching, unmoving, and not quite real. With thanks to Christopher, a long-time subscriber, for helping trace some of the earliest stories and local legends behind this episode.

The Wolf at the Door: Werewolf Sightings from Scotland
While Eerie Edinburgh usually focuses on ghost stories and hauntings, sometimes a different kind of story stands out - strange, frightening, and too rooted in our folklore to ignore. Scotland has no shortage of the supernatural: water horses in dark lochs, second sight, fairy abductions, witches blamed for failed harvests and sudden storms. But werewolves? That’s something we tend to associate with mainland Europe, not the glens and forests of the north. But dig deep enough and the stories are there. In this episode, we look at reports of wolf-like creatures in Scottish history - starting with the case of a royal messenger found dead in 16th-century Perthshire, and ending with a chilling account from the 1960's near Oban. Through legend, eyewitness claims, and fragments of historical record, we ask: what exactly was seen in the woods and hills of the Highlands? Next time, we’re back on more familiar ground – ghosts, hauntings, and the kind of eerie stories this channel is best known for.

When the Devil Spoke: Canada’s Most Chilling Poltergeist Case
Every now and then, I like to branch out beyond Edinburgh and Scotland and bring you a case from further afield - one that’s too strange, too unnerving, and too well-documented to ignore. But just as importantly, I want to bring you the stories that don’t always get the spotlight. The ones that risk being forgotten. This is one of them In 1889, a remote farmhouse in Clarendon, Quebec became the centre of one of the most unsettling paranormal cases in Canadian history. The Dagg family claimed they were haunted by a presence that moved furniture, tore beds apart, attacked a young girl - and spoke aloud in a deep, gravelly voice. This wasn’t folk tales. Seventeen people signed formal witness statements. Journalists, neighbours, clergy, and even a spiritualist investigator and famous painter named Percy Woodcock all confirmed something extraordinary was happening. The voice identified itself as the Devil. It mocked, threatened, and asked for forgiveness. But that was just the beginning. In this episode, we explore the incredible case of the Dagg Poltergeist. This isn’t just a ghost story. It’s something else.

Glasgow's Hidden Haunting: The Gibson Street Poltergeist
In the summer of 1958, something strange stirred in a Glasgow tenement. Three American students, renting a modest flat on Gibson Street, began experiencing something they couldn’t explain - and would never forget. It started with faint, indistinct voices echoing through empty rooms. Then came the sudden crashes, the faulty radio playing on its own, and the sense that they were not alone. This was no ordinary haunting. In this episode, we uncover the account of the Gibson Street poltergeist - a case that left its mark on those who lived through it. But the story doesn’t end there. More than a decade later, a climber named Phil MacNeill would encounter something deeply disturbing at a remote Highland bothy - only to return home to neighbouring 39 Gibson Street and discover the nightmare wasn’t over. A hidden trapdoor. A strange, newspaper-lined chamber beneath the kitchen. And a name that links it all.

Dark Miles: Scotland's Most Haunted Road
Somewhere between Gretna and Annan lies a stretch of road that has terrified drivers for decades. Apparitions on the verge. A phantom woman in black. A spectral coach hurtling through the night. And, most chilling of all, a silent procession of pale, tattered figures crossing in the dark. In this episode, we dive into one of Scotland’s strangest and most persistent ghost stories: the hauntings of the A75. Drawing on real witness accounts from as far back as the 1950s and as recently as the 2000s, we explore what might lie behind the road’s reputation as a hotspot of uncanny encounters. Are these residual echoes of the past? Warnings? Or something else entirely?

The Preacher & The Poltergeist: The True Tale of Scotland’s Bell Witch
On a quiet farm in 1695, something woke in the night. What began as whispers and scratches soon escalated into violence—stones hurled through the air, beds dragged across the floor, children lifted screaming from their sleep. The spirit that plagued the Mackie family in Rerrick was relentless, calculated, and cruel. It bore striking similarities to a more famous case across the sea—Tennessee’s infamous Bell Witch. But this haunting came a century earlier. And it spoke with a voice that could be heard by all. Some called it a poltergeist. Others whispered of witchcraft. And in the stillness of the farmhouse, it delivered threats no living soul could explain. This is the chilling true account of the Rerrick Poltergeist—Scotland’s forgotten Bell Witch. A story of fear, faith, and something that refused to remain unseen.

The Witches Ghosts: The Haunting of Abergeldie Castle
This week, we venture into the haunted halls of Abergeldie Castle, a stunning fortress found in the heart of Deeside, Scotland. With centuries of history etched into its walls, Abergeldie is more than just a relic of the past—it’s a place where legend and tragedy collide. At the heart of the castle’s story is the tale of French Kate, a 16th-century servant accused of witchcraft and executed on the nearby Creag nam Ban. Her ghost is said to haunt the castle’s cellars and clock tower, with countless reports of strange sightings and unexplained sounds adding to her legend. We’ll explore the dark history of Abergeldie Castle, from its role in rebellious times to the shadow French Kate has cast over its halls. For those fascinated by witchcraft trials, I highly recommend Contagious Enemies: First-hand Accounts from the Aberdeen Witch by Dee Lawlor. The Haunting of Parliament Square: Edinburgh’s Darkest Secret – A Halloween Exclusive
In this Halloween exclusive, we bring you the most incredible ghost story you’ve never heard: The Haunting of Parliament Square. A story I believe rivals the most incredible ghost stories in the world. Buried beneath the stones of this historic Edinburgh square lies a dark secret that terrified two flatmates in late 2006, eventually forcing the terrified women to flee the property. The Haunting of Parliament Square was relayed to me by Anna, a conflict photographer, whose chilling experience was later corroborated by Ruth, a BBC journalist. Both seasoned professionals and not easily rattled, these women shared accounts of a terrifying presence in the heart of Edinburgh's Royal Mile—an encounter that has stayed with them ever since. This isn’t just another ghost story; it’s a story where Edinburgh’s violent past collides with the supernatural in a way that defies belief. Prepare yourself for an encounter with the unknown that you won’t soon forget. And don’t miss out! My new book, Ghostly Tales of the NC500, is now available on Amazon.
