The 2025 NFC Logjam 4.30.’26 1.32 PM
The 2025 NFC LogjamHow 8 & 9 became the magic number for the Carolina PanthersStory by Gail NoblesPodcast Cover by Gail NoblesAI Announcer: Looking back at the 2025 regular season, “intense” might be an understatement. In a division race that felt more like a marathon sprint, the Carolina Panthers officially reclaimed their throne, ..Gail: Yes, finishing the year at 8-9 to secure their first NFC South title since 2015.It wasn’t a runaway victory. In fact, by the time the final whistle blew on the regular season, the top of the division looked like a total logjam. The Panthers, Buccaneers, and Falcons all ended with identical 8-9 records. How the Panthers Stole the ShowThe turning point came late in December. While the Buccaneers held the lead for much of the early season, Carolina surged when it mattered most. A massive 23-20 victory over Tampa Bay in Week 16 shifted the momentum, putting the Panthers in the driver’s seat.Even with a tough loss to the Buccaneers to end their schedule in Week 18 January 3, 2026): Carolina clinched the division thanks to tiebreakers—specifically their performance against common opponents and divisional rivals. The Final 2025 ScoreboardNFC South 2025 Final Standings• Carolina Panthers: 1st Place (Division Champions) with a record of 8 wins and 9 losses.• Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 2nd Place with a record of 8 wins and 9 losses.• Atlanta Falcons: 3rd Place with a record of 8 wins and 9 losses.• New Orleans Saints: 4th Place with a record of 6 wins and 11 losses.A Wild FinishThe Atlanta Falcons were the dark horse of December, closing out the year with a four-game winning streak. Their late-season push actually helped the Panthers; by defeating the Saints 19-17 in the final week, the Falcons inadvertently cleared the path for Carolina to stay on top of the heap via tiebreakers.Meanwhile, the New Orleans Saints struggled to keep pace, finishing at the bottom of the division with 11 losses and a staggering -77 point differential. As the page turns to the new season, the big question remains: Was last year’s three-way tie a sign that the division is up for grabs, or can the Panthers turn that 8-win playoff berth into a dominant winning season this time around?Thank you for listening to EPS. It's a tale of some hard-fought games, with the Panthers holding a slight edge overall. In the all-time series, the Carolina Panthers have won 5 games while losing 3 to the Jets. That means they've come out on top more often than not since these teams started facing off. When the Panthers play at home in Carolina, they've been tough to beat. They've racked up 4 wins out of 5 games against the Jets right in their own stadium. But on the road in New York, it's a different story. The Panthers have struggled, managing just 1 win in 3 tries. That's the breakdown so far in this NFL rivalry – the Panthers have the upper hand, but the Jets have shown they can compete.”Tampa Bay BuccaneersThe Tampa Bay Buccaneers are riding high as the undisputed leaders of the NFC South division following their impressive 5-1 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 6 action. Vision of Victory-Panthers Triumph Over Cowboys 10:12:25 5.15 PM
Cover Illus. by: Gail NoblesStory by: Gail NoblesIn a remarkable turn of events, I experienced a vision on the evening of October 11, 2025, where I saw a Carolina Panther football player alone on the field, surrounded by silence and no crowd. Although I couldn’t identify the player or see his jersey number, a small voice in my mind whispered that the Panthers would come out on top in their upcoming game.Despite my vision, I watched the matchup against the Dallas Cowboys without any expectations. As the game progressed and the teams went back and forth, it was clear that it was going to be a close finish. With the score tied, I felt a mix of anticipation and uncertainty—wondering if we would see a Panther victory or head into overtime. In an exciting conclusion, the Panthers secured their victory, winning 30-27. Bryce Young dazzled fans with three touchdown passes, and Rico Dowdle showcased his skills, racking up over 200 all-purpose yards. The dramatic finale came as kicker Ryan Fitzgerald nailed a 31-yard field goal as time expired, confirming that my mysterious vision had indeed come true.I'm Gail Nobles, and you're listening to Entertainment Podcasting Sports. All about sports.

C.Panthers Aim for a Brighter 2025 10:7:25 5.40 PM
Photo: Carolina PanthersUsage: Wikipedia Public DomainStory by: Gail NoblesWelcome to EPS. Good evening, sports fans! In a promising development for the Carolina Panthers, the 2025 season is shaping up to be one filled with potential, particularly when considering their strength of schedule. According to sharp analysis from Sharp Football and ESPN, the Panthers have been handed one of the easier paths in the NFL. The Panthers have the 7th easiest schedule based on projected win totals. They also tie for the 5th easiest when looking at their opponents' win percentages in 2024. This gives them a good chance to improve their league standing. Their favorable ranking comes from finishing third in the NFC South, which means they will face weaker competition from other divisions. The numbers are clear: by finishing third in their division. the Panthers avoid the strongest teams in the NFL. Instead, they will face opponents that are expected to struggle. This gives Carolina a chance to take advantage of an easier schedule. It’s a big opportunity for the Panthers to increase their wins. With some luck and good performances, they might even aim for a wild card playoff spot.Head Coach Dave Canales and the team will be looking to seize this unique chance to make strides back into playoff contention. With a roster that's steadily developing and some key additions on the horizon, the upcoming season might just be the turning point the franchise has been searching for.So, mark your calendars? The road ahead appears encouraging, and it's time to rally behind a squad that could very well leverage this easier schedule into a successful 2025 season! I’m Gail. Nobles. Demetrius Hook Mitchell 8:23:25 1.51 PM
Story by: Gail NoblesCover illus. by: Gail NoblesIntro music: The Passion HiFiUsage: FreeGood evening, everyone. I’m Gail Nobles, and tonight we’re stepping onto the blacktop of Oakland, California, where the echoes of basketballs bounce off the pavement and the spirit of competition fills the air. It’s here that we meet a local legend whose prowess on the court has extended far beyond the neighborhood: Demetrius “Hook” Mitchell. In the late 1980s, the San Francisco Bay Area was a hotbed of talent, a crucible where streetball forged legends. And at the center of that fire was Hook, a player who captivated audiences with his incredible hops and his signature 360-degree dunks that would leave crowds gasping in awe. Imagine for a moment—a player who, standing at just 5-feet-10, could elevate so high that he reportedly dunked right over a late model Honda Accord. Yes, you heard that right—a car! Now that’s not just basketball, that’s pure artistry in motion.Demetrius’s talent didn’t go unnoticed. But despite that undeniable talent, the road to the NBA was long and winding. For every moment of glory on the playground, every backboard-shattering alley-oop, there were challenges and setbacks that kept this local hero from reaching the professional ranks.Through the lens of the documentary *Hooked: The Legend of Demetrius "Hook" Mitchell*, released in 2003, we are invited to delve into the life of a player who found his passion long before he reached towering heights—literally. Hook tells us he’s been “playing above the rim” since the young age of 5-foot-3, but it wasn’t until he hit 5-foot-5 that he finally took flight in organized games. It’s a testament to perseverance, a reminder that some of the best stories in sports aren’t just about trophies and fame, but about the heart and the hustle that drive us.I’m Gail Nobles & thank you for joining me here on EPS.All about sports.

Charlie Reid’s Twilite Basketball League 7:25:25 12.01 PM
Photo: Pexels.comStory by Gail NoblesGood evening, I'm Gail Nobles. Tonight, we turn our attention to a beloved local institution that holds a special place in the hearts of basketball enthusiasts throughout Northern California—the Twilite outdoor basketball league, founded by the legendary Charlie Reid at Shields Park in North Richmond.Imagine a warm summer evening, the golden rays of the sun beginning to set, casting a warm glow on the basketball court. The rhythmic bounce of basketballs and the cheers of spectators create an atmosphere that electrifies the air. This was the spirit of the Twilite league, where the best and brightest high school and college players from across the Bay Area gathered to showcase their skills, build friendships, and chase their dreams under that expansive, open sky.Charlie Reid, known as the heartbeat of the park, was more than just a playground director; he was a mentor and a visionary. His commitment to youth development extended beyond basketball—it embraced life lessons, teamwork, and community. In recognition of his immense contributions, Shields Park was later renamed Shields-Reid Park, a fitting tribute to a man who dedicated so much of himself to the young players who flourished there.I don’t have a start date for the league. I'm gazing at a photograph of them, with a note indicating it was taken around 1950—though that's just an estimate. The Twilite league was a gathering place for the passionate and the aspiring, a place where talent was nurtured, and futures were forged. As we reflect on Charlie Reid’s impact and the legacy of the Twilite league, we can't help but hope for a revival of this cherished tradition. Imagine once again feeling that excitement as young athletes demonstrate their skills under the stars, with the community rallying together in support and celebration. A reinstatement of this league could rekindle not just the love for the game but the spirit of friendship and unity that it once inspired. As we look to the future, let’s remember the bright moments that took place at Shields Park and honor the vision of Charlie Reid—a visionary who believed in the power of sport to transform lives. Perhaps, with enough support and enthusiasm, we could once again witness the magic of Twilite basketball lighting up those summer nights in North Richmond.I'm GN. Superman Dwight Howard - 5:24:25 1.12 PM
SUPERMAN DWIGHT HOWARDFlight to the Big3Photo: All-Pro Reels from District of ColumbiaUsage: Wikipedia CC BY-SA 2.0We’re talking about a fella who came into the league with more hype than a championship parade, a man they called "Superman," Dwight Howard! This guy, no college, straight outta Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy, boom! First overall pick in the 2004 draft by the Orlando Magic. And listen, he wasn't just a pretty face with a cape. Eight-time All-Star? Check! Eight-time All-NBA? You bet! Five-time All-Defensive Team? Absolutely! And get this, THREE-TIME Defensive Player of the Year! Three! This wasn't just flash and dunkin', this was some serious defensive dominance. He took that Orlando Magic team, a team that frankly wouldn't have known the Finals if they saw it, all the way to the 2009 NBA Finals! Remember that? The Magic! All thanks to the big fella in the middle. Now, the man's been around, hasn't he? Orlando, Lakers, Houston, Atlanta, Charlotte, Washington, Philly... like a travelling salesman peddling rebounds and blocked shots! He even came back to the Lakers, finally got that elusive NBA Championship in 2020! You gotta hand it to him, the man's stayed in the game. What made him special? Athleticism, pure and simple! Leaping, rebounding, swatting shots into the cheap seats! He wasn't always the smoothest offensive player, but you knew you were gonna get a hard-nosed effort, especially on the defensive end.And now, after a long and winding NBA road, he's hanging up the *indoor* sneakers, at least on the big stage. 2025, he's taking his talents to the BIG3, joining the Los Angeles Riot. A final chapter for "Superman," playing that 3-on-3 game. Interesting, very interesting indeed. We'll see if Dwight Howard can still fly high on that half-court!This is EPS. The Detroit Steels 5:14:25 1.16 PM
Story: The Detroit Steels: Can Ziane Drive the Steels Home?Story by: Gail Nobles © 2025Illustration by: Gail NoblesDetroit, MI -The roar wasn't for a home run. It wasn't for a stolen base. It was for *her.*Ziane "Iron Lily" Richardson, a name whispered in hushed tones from Side Mount City, has arrived in Detroit and taken her place on the Detroit Steels, a team desperately trying to claw its way back from the bottom. The Steels, a once proud franchise, are now more rust than steel. Their bats are silent, their gloves are leaky, and their hope… well, their hope is a flickering candle in a gale-force wind. But Ziane, a whirlwind of grit and determination, represents something more than just a player. She is the *seed* planted in barren soil, a symbol of unwavering belief. Her arrival has ignited a fire in the bellies of her teammates. The tired eyes that once stared blankly out at the field now gleam with a renewed intensity.“She’s different,” whispers catcher, “Rusty Racheal”, her voice gravelly with years of playing behind the plate and sometimes would practice catch with Ziane. “She makes you want to *run*. Not just to first base, but to *home*. To something better.”The metaphor is clear: the Steels are a team lost in the wilderness, desperately seeking their way back to prosperity, to glory, to *home*. And Ziane, with her unwavering spirit and her fierce determination, is the guide. But the journey will be fraught with peril. The opposing teams, hardened by years of victory, represent the obstacles that life throws in our path – doubt, despair, and the ever-present fear of failure. Will Ziane be enough to ignite the entire team? Can she overcome the years of disappointment? The answer remains to be seen. But one thing is certain: the Steels, fueled by her presence, are *hoofing it* to home plate. They are running, they are striving, and they are believing. And in baseball, as in life, that’s half the battle. The rest… well, that’s for the gods of the diamond to decide. But for now, hope blooms in Detroit. This is a news report from The Morning Riselines.I’m Gail Nobles. You’re listening to the Ziane Richardson Tale by Gail Nobles © 2025.All about sports.

With the score finely poised at 7-0 dawning upon us, it was clear that the crowd was buzzing, their hopes soaring sky-high as our story began to unfold. But wait! The second quarter roared to life as Cooper DeJean, a name you’ll not soon forget, carved through the Chiefs’ defense like a hot knife through butter, propelling the Eagles to a staggering 16-0 lead. The cadence of the game, the ebb and flow of strategy, danced on the edge of triumph, and by the 2nd quarter, it was 17-0—a testament to the Eagles' resilience and composure! As we rolled into the third quarter, AJ Brown stepped onto the stage, and my oh my, what a performance it was! And suddenly, the score ballooned to 23-0. But in a jaw-dropping series of events that would make the most seasoned of fans jump out of their seats, Devonte Smith joined the revelry with yet another touchdown that brought the Eagles to an astonishing 33-0! At this juncture, my friends, you could practically hear the collective gasp of disbelief reverberating through the stadium! The Chiefs, while proud and valiant, were finding it exceedingly difficult to rise to the occasion. As the clock ticked away and the dust settled on this grand encounter, the Eagles emerged victorious with a score of 40-22. In the grand tapestry of football history, this performance will surely be woven as a defining moment. The Eagles, ladies and gentlemen, not just champions of the game, but poets on the field, crafting a narrative of brilliance that will be spoken of for ages to come! So there you have it, a resounding celebration of athletic prowess, strategy, and the timeless love affair between football and its fans! You're listening to EPS. Bo Jackson 2:6:25 3.41 PM 2
Photo: Wikipedia CC BY 2.0Story by: Gail NoblesToday we’re going to talk about the extraordinary career of the one and only Bo Jackson! Now, let’s be clear: this man was not just your run-of-the-mill athlete. No, sir! Bo was a phenomenon, a force of nature, a two-sport superstar who made headlines in both baseball and football. In baseball, Bo had a knack for leaving those poor bats in splinters! Striking out? No problem! He’d snap a bat over his knee like it was a mere twig. Groundout? How about a little theatrics—one bat shattered over his head! It was a sight to behold, and the sheer strength he displayed was a testament to his incredible athleticism.Let’s shift gears to the football field, where Bo put on another spectacular show. He was known for his blazing speed, clocking in at a jaw-dropping 4.13 seconds for the 40-yard dash. And let me tell you,, that’s faster than a cheetah chasing down its dinner! This man didn’t just play football; he dominated it. He dazzled the college ranks, winning the coveted Heisman Trophy, symbolizing the best in college football. But, oh, what a twist of fate! A devastating hip injury cut short his NFL journey, leaving fans and analysts alike pondering, "What if?" What if Bo could have played a full career? The mind races with possibilities. It’s a true sports tragedy, because when you talk about the most naturally gifted athletes in history, Bo Jackson's name is right there at the top of the list, shining bright like a diamond.Whether he was smashing bats or blazing down the field, Bo Jackson represented the pinnacle of athletic prowess. A dual-threat, a legend, and an icon of sport—a hallmark of greatness that, sadly, we can only imagine if it had continued. You're listening to EPS. I'm your host, Gail Nobles. All about sports.

The Los Angeles Legacy of Anthony Davis 2:1:25 7.34 PM
A Modern Day Giant In Lakers LorePhoto: Erik Drost - https://www.flickr.com/photos/edrost88/51959674513/Usage: Wikipedia CC BY 2.0Story by: Gail NoblesHello! I'm Gail Nobles. Welcome to EPS! Let me bring your attention to a towering figure in the world of basketball—the one and only Anthony Davis. Yes, we've seen giants walk the hardwood before—names like Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar have graced the iconic Los Angeles Lakers. What do they all share, you ask? They stood tall, both physically and in the Los Angeles World of basketball greatness. Now, let's put this in perspective. Chamberlain, in his time as a Laker from 1968 to 1973, made a jaw-dropping 17,783 points, becoming a crucial piece of the Lakers’ success. Then we had the great Kareem, the skyhook magician, lighting it up with a staggering 24,176 points from 1975 to 1989 with the purple and gold. Both of these legends shaped their eras, and they did so from the lofty heights that only a few can claim.Enter Anthony Davis, a man who was acquired by the Lakers in July 2019. The trade was no small affair, mind you. The Pelicans sent Davis packing, trading him for a bundle that included Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, and three first-round picks. It was a transaction that set the stage for a new chapter in Lakers history.Davis made his much-anticipated debut on October 22, 2019, putting the league on notice with 25 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists, though it was a loss to the archrival Clippers. However, it wasn’t long before he started rewriting the record books. Just a week later, on October 29, Davis became the first Laker to post a 40-point, 20-rebound game since the great Shaquille O'Neal did it back in 2003. But hold your horses—he did it in just 30 minutes! That’s right—30 minutes to make history! But wait, there’s more! In that electrifying performance, he set the NBA record for free throws in a quarter with 18, matching those numbers in a half and even setting the game record at 26. That’s making a statement, folks! From 2019 to 2025, Anthony Davis has dazzled fans with his variety and skill, racking up a considerable 7,739 points in that time. While some may see that number and think it doesn't stack up against Wilt or Kareem, let me remind you—he's still writing his story. Then came February 2, 2025—an earth-shattering trade to the Dallas Mavericks, where he joined forces with the incomparable Luka Dončić. Two reigning All-NBA players exchanged midseason? You bet your sneakers, folks! This was a monumental deal that shook the very foundation of the league. So there you have it—a brief glimpse into the career of Anthony Davis—an athlete who stands tall among the greats and continues to carve his own legacy with every jump shot, rebound, and blocked shot. In the world of basketball, height isn’t just about inches—it’s about impact, and I’d say Davis is definitely making his mark! All about sports.

Their recent partnership in joining the ownership group of the Buffalo Bills marks an exciting chapter in their careers beyond the basketball court. Carter, a highlight-reel legend and eight-time NBA All-Star, is celebrated for his aerial acrobatics and longevity in the league.Their decision to become involved with the Buffalo Bills is noteworthy for several reasons. Still In The Ring-Celebrating The Indomitable Mike Tyson 11:16:24 5.17 PM
Photo of Mike Tyson: Wikipedia CC BY 2.0Photo of Jake Paul: Erik DrostUsage: Wikipedia CC BY 2.0Story by: Gail NoblesYou know, it’s funny how people react when they see two fighters step into the ring, one a seasoned old lion and the other a brash young cub. Like some folks are squawking about how a 58-year-old Mike Tyson should never have been allowed to face off against a 27-year-old Jake Paul. Well, let me tell you, it seems to me that if Mike Tyson wants to lace up the gloves and step into the ring, who are we to rain on his parade? Now, don’t get me wrong. I understand the concerns. Tyson has had his share of ups and downs, both in and out of the ring. But here’s a guy who’s been punching since before many of us could even tie our shoes. A former heavyweight champion, a man who once struck fear into the hearts of opponents. Is he past his prime? Sure, but have we ever met a fighter who really retires? They say you can’t take the fight out of the man, and in Tyson’s case, the spirit is still alive and well.Sure, the naysayers will point to his age and say it was irresponsible for the fight to even happen. They cluck like chickens about him getting hurt or embarrassed. What they don’t seem to get is that Tyson is an able-bodied man making his own choices. He wanted to fight, and he did. End of story. It’s a bit like telling an artist they shouldn’t paint anymore because they’ve been doing it for decades. If the brush is still in hand, let them create. Now, Tyson did end up losing the match against Jake Paul, and I can hear the chorus of critics already. “It was a terrible thing for Mike Tyson to fight,” they say. But who measures what’s terrible? If Tyson looked in the mirror, saw a fighter staring back, and thought he could go for it, then he should have the right to do so. It’s not like he was dragged to the ring against his will. He signed up for it. He trained. He stepped into that squared circle and took his chances. In the end, isn’t that what sport is all about? Taking risks, rolling the dice, and letting life unfold. So maybe Tyson lost, but in the grand scheme of life, it was his fight to have—literally and figuratively. And you know what? For that, we ought to give the man a little credit for still having that fire in his belly at 58. Just because he lost doesn’t mean he didn’t win in other ways—like showing that the spirit of a fighter never really retires.Thank you for listening to EPS. Redefining Football’s Future Beyond the Helmet 11:7:24 6.55 PM
Story by: Gail NoblesCover Art by: Gail NoblesWhen we speak of the A7FL, we’re not merely referencing a league; we’re addressing a bold manifesto! A veritable lion who boldly holds a cross in the realm of football, defying the conventions dictated by the hulking pads and glossy helmets of yesterday. Oh, what a sight it is, my friends! Players dive, dodge, and run with a raw, unadulterated ferocity. You know, I’ve been watching football for years, and every time I see those players coming onto the field in their shiny helmets, I can’t help but wonder—should the NFL take a page out of the A7FL’s book and ditch the helmets altogether?First of all, helmets were supposed to protect players from concussions and head injuries, right? But with the way the game is played today, it seems like those helmets are more like weapons than anything else. Players are throwing themselves around like it’s a demolition derby, and I can’t help but think those helmets give them a false sense of security. Now, the A7FL—those folks are doing something different. They’ve tossed the helmets aside, and what do they get? A game that demands more strategy, better tackling techniques, and a greater emphasis on skill rather than brute force. When you take away the helmets, players are much less likely to lead with their heads because—guess what? They don’t want to get hurt! It's a simple concept, really. You can only fool around with your noggin’ so much before it decides to stop working properly. But then, there's the NFL—the big league, the money-maker. Would they really be willing to take that step? What’s the price we’re willing to pay for entertainment? Are we willing to sacrifice the long-term health of our players for a few extra moments of bravado? Now, I'm not saying the NFL should jump into this helmet-free world immediately. We need to consider practical implications—like injuries and safety protocols. But just maybe, by stripping down the armor, we’d get a game that’s more about finesse and less about smashing heads. Football is already a sport that’s evolving; we’ve seen rule changes to protect players. Why stop there? After all, it’s all fun and games until someone gets a concussion. So, in the end, the question remains—should the NFL follow the A7FL and go helmetless? I don’t think we’re ready to make that leap just yet, but it sure is food for thought. So here’s to the A7FL a league that symbolizes safety here’s two its lying like spirit carrying a cross of safety while showcasing a bold departure from the norm.I'm Gail Nobles.
