This week’s episode is an interview with Silver Fox, he’s a stripper and owner of New England Heat, a male review in the north eastern U.S. Silver Fox is self-described “not your typical male stripper” he started working in the industry in his 50s and I can say after hearing a diverse array of his stripper experiences I’d have to agree. We talk about his typical clientele, an interesting birthday arrangement that got him in the business and what motivated him to start his own company. Silver Fox has some insightful ideas about AI and where he thinks our shared industry is headed in the future. This week’s solo episode is one whole start to finish story. I describe my experiences at a dermatologist’s office, if that doesn't sound in line with my usual stripper-y subject matter don’t worry I made it be! I describe not wanting to be “that guy at the strip club” who wastes the time of people who are trying to do a job. You’ll hear about my both wacky and infuriating experience of being repeatedly asked by a doctor what I do for work. I am sick and have a raspy voice in this episode. I play a “post work audio clip” about two delightful gentleman’s club customers who were army medics pretending to work in the public school system. I tell two stories about meeting gay male customers at the club, one guy was a bummer and brought up some misogyny frustrations for me but my second true tale about gay men at the strip club is fun. A former adult performer told me some fun stories about his previous career, the drink his friend bought me led to some antics later in the episode. Other than demanding that people act as my furniture I don't have many tools in my stripper toolbox when it comes to creating a positive experience for my customers who enjoy being dominated. This week I talked to Mia, a dancer who lives in Huston. After hitting a wall with her volleyball skills Mia took to the pole and has been entertaining at strip clubs for about 6 months. Mia grew-up around dancers and we have fun talking about how her upbringing may have influenced her comfortability with our work. We share a lot of laughs about our love/hate of fog machines and I enjoy hearing Mia describe what she’s been finding energizing and enjoyable about working at the club. On this week's episode I have a wonderful time talking to dancer and fellow introvert Hunny. Strippers are employees rather than independent contractors in the state of California, Hunny has worked as both so she provides a breakdown of the differences and similarities between the two options. So I start off this episode trying (and failing) to remember a quote I like about strippers and politicians. This week's episode is a conversation/interview (call it what you will) with former strip club bartender and current podcaster Gallo! We talk about his experiences bartending at strip clubs in Huston, TX circa 2001-2004. We cover topics like service industry friendships, sex addiction, learning financial strategies through customers and our least favorite questions to be asked at the strip club (hint, Gallo's has to do with how people order drinks). Gallo and I are both frugal and he shares an early 2000s technique that he formally used at the mall for flexing like he had a lot of money. I can't help but mention pickup artists during this conversation and I learn that Gallo was using many of Neil Stauss's "The Game" techniques before they were cool. I end the episode by having Gallo answer some of the questions that you wonderful listeners suggested.
