S10/11 The Yellow Raincoat: Fisherman, Socialite, Icon
Inspired by Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, today on Fashion Love Stories, I’m exploring the enduring allure of the classic yellow fisherman’s raincoat — a piece rooted not in fashion, but in survival, utility, and maritime history. From Norwegian fishermen and the ports of Brittany to Nantucket summers and contemporary New York style, the yellow raincoat has quietly evolved into one of fashion’s most recognizable symbols of understated coastal chic.I discuss the original heritage makers like Helly Hansen and Guy Cotten, the romantic American interpretation of seaside dressing, and why this practical garment still feels timeless today.Because the best style pieces are rarely about trends. They are about authenticity, restraint, memory, and the stories clothing carries with it through time.

S10/10 No Logos, No Noise, Just Power—Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy & JFK Jr.
“No Logos, No Noise, Just Power” (recorded April 4,2026) explores why John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy remain one of the most influential couples in modern style history. In an era increasingly driven by spectacle, branding, and celebrity excess, they moved differently—quietly, privately, and with extraordinary restraint.Together, they created a new visual language of American sophistication: understated tailoring, dark sunglasses, sharp coats, minimal Calvin Klein silhouettes, old New York polish, and the ease of people who never appeared to be trying too hard. Their style carried traces of the legacy and discipline of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, while translating it into the cooler, cleaner minimalism of 1990s Manhattan. This episode explores why the world became obsessed with a couple that revealed so little of themselves, and why their influence still resonates today—from fashion and celebrity culture to the return of refined minimalism and contemporary socialite style. With renewed fascination sparked by FX’s portrayal of their love story, Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy in particular continues to define a version of elegance that feels increasingly rare: composed, intelligent, elusive, and timeless.More Fashion Love Stories on Threads @https://www.threads.com/@susannagalanis/post/DYPWhylFlwk?xmt=AQG0eKqWpNkTkkq-wBx0AlwUvptQkFSf1740AhQp1wgqHuVNzwamTz7C1INhicyg8Q8G-Gca

S10/09 Contemporary Socialite
In this episode of Contemporary Socialite, I explore why Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy remains one of the most contemporary and desirable style figures today. Her image is often reduced to minimalism — the black coats, narrow silhouettes, dark sunglasses, and the Calvin Klein restraint of the 1990s — but I believe there was something deeper happening. Carolyn absorbed the language of earlier New York socialites and translated it into a sharper, quieter, downtown form. You can trace echoes of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Lee Radziwill in the precision of her coats, her structured handbags, her love of dramatic outerwear, and the disciplined elegance behind even her simplest looks. The influence of European houses like Valentino and Prada also appears throughout her wardrobe — not in an overt way, but through proportion, restraint, and attitude. What made Carolyn different was her ability to merge uptown codes with downtown cool. She took the polish of the classic socialite and stripped away the performance, leaving behind something modern, intelligent, and still deeply aspirational. In this conversation, I define the idea of the “contemporary socialite” — a woman whose style is not driven by excess or trends, but by discernment, presence, confidence, and cultural awareness. A woman who understands fashion as identity and social language. And perhaps that is why Carolyn still resonates so strongly today. She did not look nostalgic. She looked eternal.

S10/08 The Myth of Fashion Armor — What It Really Means and Where It Comes From
In this episode of Fashion Love Stories, I’m unpacking the idea of “fashion armor” and “Park Avenue Armor”—terms that has been widely repeated, and often misattributed. It has been said that the late NYC socialite Lee Radziwellcoined or defined it, but there is no verified record of her ever saying that. So where did it actually come from, and what does it really mean?I take you back to New York—specifically the Upper East Side—from the 1970s through the early 2000s, where a very distinct way of dressing emerged among society women. What looked effortless was, in fact, highly intentional. A uniform of control, polish, and presence. What is called Park Avenue armor. This isn’t about trends. It’s about identity, protection, and power through clothing. What does it mean to dress with structure? To repeat a silhouette until it becomes part of who you are? And why does this idea still resonate today, even if it shows up more quietly? This episode is about separating myth from reality—and understanding fashion not as decoration, but as strategy. Note: I experienced background noise during recording—my apologies for the audio quality, and thank you for listening.Enjoy the episode.

S10/07 Park Avenue Armour — Definitionn
In this episode, “Park Avenue Armour,” we step inside a world where style was more than fashion — it was strategy, identity, and quiet power. From the polished salons and doorman buildings of Park Avenue in the 1950s through the confident glamour of the 60s, 70s, and 80s, a certain kind of woman emerged: the Park Avenue socialite. Impeccably dressed, exquisitely composed, and always aware that image was a form of influence. This episode explores the visual language of that world — the pearls, the tailored coats, the immaculate hair, the poised restraint — and what those details truly represented. These women built a kind of armor through elegance: a way of moving through society with authority, mystique, and control. We look at how their style shaped culture, how their carefully constructed image allowed them to navigate power and visibility, and why the idea of “Park Avenue armour” still resonates today.Because beyond nostalgia, their legacy offers something enduring: a reminder that style can be intentional, that image can be architecture, and that the way we present ourselves can become a language of confidence, identity, and aspiration.

S10/06 Lee Radziwill in Her Own Words (Part IV)
In this episode, we step into the mythology of a woman whose name alone evokes a world of elegance, mystery, and impeccable taste: Lee Radziwill. Through her own words, and the reflections of those who watched her move through the rarefied circles of fashion, society, and art, we explore the quiet magnetism of a true style icon. Lee understood something timeless — that style is never just about clothes, but about presence, instinct, and the courage to shape one’s own narrative. In silk, in shadow, and in light, she embodied a kind of effortless glamour that reminds us: true icons are never made by trends, but by the will to live beautifully.

S10/05 Lee and Carolyn: The Inheritance of Chic (Part III)
There are women who follow fashion. And then there are women who define a code. This is not an episode about nostalgia. And it’s not about copying two iconic wardrobes. It’s about inheritance. In the first chapters of this trilogy, we looked at the lives and silhouettes of Lee Radziwill and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy — two women separated by generation, circumstance, and cultural climate. But connected by something quieter.Discipline.Restraint.Control.Lee moved through European salons and New York society with cultivated precision. She understood proportion, understatement, and the power of editing long before it was aestheticized on social media.Decades later, Carolyn emerged in an era of growing media saturation — and did something radical. She simplified.Clean lines. Neutral palettes. Architectural tailoring. Repetition without apology. No spectacle. No explanation. So in this final chapter, we’re going deeper.Beyond hemlines. Beyond coats. Beyond minimalism as a trend. We’re asking:Why has cultivated restraint always signaled power? Why does elite understatement feel so relevant right now?And why, in a culture obsessed with visibility, does quiet composure feel almost mythic? This is about the sociology of chic. The psychology of editing. The discipline behind elegance.Because the inheritance of chic is not about clothing. It’s about codes. And once you understand the code —you see it everywhere.

S10/04 Did Lee Radziwill Shape Carolyn’s Minimalism? (Part II)
In this second episode, we move deeper into the aesthetic lineage between legendary socialite and Capote “Swan” Lee Radziwill and the modern minimalist icon Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy.Lee Radziwill was more than a princess by marriage or a fixture of society — she was a woman who refined glamour into something intellectual, European, and deliberately restrained. Moving between Parisian salons, Roman palazzos, and New York drawing rooms, she mastered a language of understatement: sleek tailoring, monochrome palettes, impeccable fabrics, and an instinct for proportion. As one of Truman Capote’s celebrated Swans, Lee represented a rarefied form of fame — aristocratic, curated, and timeless. In Part Two, we explore the possibility that this disciplined, European-inflected elegance did not end with Lee’s generation. Decades later, Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy emerged with a strikingly similar aesthetic philosophy — stripped-back silhouettes, architectural coats, bias-cut gowns, and an almost radical commitment to simplicity. Was Carolyn consciously inspired by Lee’s cultivated restraint? Or did she intuitively revive the same codes of elite understatement — a quiet luxury long before it became a cultural movement? This episode examines the parallels: the power of neutral palettes, the art of immaculate tailoring, the refusal of excess, and the understanding that true influence does not chase attention — it commands it through control.Part Two is not about imitation. It is about evolution. About how the timeless, elegant minimalism of a European-minded socialite may have quietly shaped the visual vocabulary of a modern American style icon.Because sometimes influence is not spoken — it is inherited.

S10/03 Before Carolyn: The Lee Radziwill Effect (Part I)
In this episode, we explore the enduring elegance of socialite and international style icon Lee Radziwill — and the quiet possibility that her cultivated aesthetic rippled forward into the minimalist mastery of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy.Lee Radziwill embodied a rarefied, Old World sophistication: capri pants in Capri, silk headscarves in Paris, impeccably tailored coats in New York. She lived within art, architecture, and aristocratic circles — from Truman Capote’s soirées to the salons of Europe — crafting an image that was never loud, but always intentional. Her style was studied yet effortless; romantic yet restrained.Decades later, Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy emerged as the quiet modern counterpart. Clean lines, disciplined silhouettes, monochromatic palettes — her Calvin Klein minimalism felt revolutionary in its refusal of excess. Where Lee curated glamour through refinement, Carolyn distilled it to purity. Was Carolyn consciously influenced by Lee? Or does their connection reveal something deeper — an inherited American aristocratic aesthetic that values understatement over spectacle? We examine the visual parallels: sleek evening gowns, architectural tailoring, signature sunglasses, unfussy hair, and an instinct for proportion. More than clothing, we explore the psychology of women who understood that true style whispers. This episode is a meditation on lineage — not just familial, but aesthetic. On how elegance evolves. On how women separated by generation can share an unspoken sartorial dialogue.Because great style is never accidental. It is observed, absorbed, and reborn.

S10/02 Remembering Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy: An Unforgettable Presence
In today’s episode, Remembering Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy: An Unforgettable Presence, I’m sharing a personal perspective that comes not from photographs, headlines, or mythology, but from real moments in the fashion world where Carolyn’s presence could truly be felt. At a time when her style continues to inspire a new generation, I want to talk about the woman behind the image — her composure, her clarity, her strength, and the unmistakable power she carried without ever needing to announce it. Carolyn wasn’t simply a style icon; she embodied a rare kind of elegance that was deeply personal, disciplined, and unforgettable. - SG P.S. S10/01 GO - Moving Towards Spring ‘26
Winter slips off like last season’s coat, leaving only light, skin, and possibility. Spring 2026 steps in—tailored, radiant, and just a little bit irresistible.“GO Moving Towards Spring ” is a meditation on thawing — the quiet, necessary melting of winter’s emotional frost. After a season of personal stillness, isolation, and reflection, January becomes a landscape of frozen habits and lingering fears ready to dissolve. Like nature preparing beneath the soil, we begin stirring things inside, shedding heaviness, releasing what no longer belongs to us, and turning instinctively toward warmth. Spring does not ask permission to arrive — it simply does — reminding us that movement is not optional, but elemental to being alive.Inspired by the rhythm of the seasons and the elegance of fashion’s perpetual reinvention, this episode explores transformation as both survival and art form. Just as a runway silhouette flows forward without hesitation, we are invited to step into light with intention and glamour, carried by renewal’s momentum. The world is already changing color, already softening, already moving — and so must we. We are almost there, just about to bloom. Spring approaches like a promise we are meant to walk toward, beautifully and without fear. -SG

S7/30 Capote’s Swans and Their Inner Circle. Get Inspired, Be Nice.
Inspired by the recent FX series, Capote vs the swans, that is so successfully trending currently, I am discussing here the topic of inner-circles and social exclusions. Is is right, is it toxic? Is it discriminating? I, for one, am a believer of the necessity of inner-circles by limiting our interactions with very few, trust-worthy, time-tested and high-quality individuals as a form of self protection and self love. Life is very complicated and we have to use boundaries and limit our interactions and trust in order to protect ourselves and allow the right people in. In my opinion it is OK to have an inner circle, the very few friends or family that you call your tribe. It’s not about discrimination, exclusions or toxicity. It’s about the right human connections where by having the right people in your life you survive and thrive towards a more elevated/spiritually higher existence. - Susanna
