Finding Your Casual Magic

Casual magic is about how we find beauty in the mundane everyday. It's learning not to wait for joy at the end of our achievements, but to find contentment NOW in every single day of our lives. It’s that first sip of herbal tea in the morning, a smile from a stranger, or the way the light comes into your bedroom. Noticing trains your brain to redefine joy.Stay tuned for alternating episodes — one solo, and then a tandem ep where I bring on a guest to expand from a new angle.I want to serve up my vulnerability to softly encourage you to do the same.Welcome to this cosy corner! Learn with Lingoda: 10% off + 45 free classes with code NEWYEARMAGIC: https://try.lingoda.com/NewYearMagic [ad] (all thoughts are my own and I GENUINELY can't recommend Lingoda enough!!) Have you ever caught yourself saying, oh, I'll be happy when I have the perfect partner and I'm no longer single? When I finally quit the job and I'm in my dream career, when I go on my dream holiday, or when climate change is solved and no one's suffering in the world anymore? When have you reached a goal but felt unfulfilled shortly after? Have you ever caught yourself thinking that when you cross that finish line everything will fall into place, only to realise that there's a new race ahead? I really hope today's episode re inspires you to realise that today is a gift. Your life is a gift, and your life is actually pretty amazing right now as it is. Today we're looking at something that I'm so passionate about. The illusion that our lives will feel better in the future after some vague outcome or life event, when the truth is you will carry the feelings that you have about yourself and your life now into whatever destination you're trying to get to. I'm going to walk you through a visualisation to help you really feel the deeper messages of today's episode and this idea of the arrival fallacy, which is when we think that upon achieving our goals, we'll finally attain all the happiness we desire, when in reality, a lot of the time the goalpost just changes. I'm also going to tell you about some of the happiest people that I've ever met and how generally the source of their happiness is being content with the now exactly as they are, with exactly everything that they have. 15 Minute Manifestation Meditation for Positive Energy in 2025

Hello friends, welcome back to a very special bonus episode of ✨ Finding your Casual Magic ✨  So many of you guys DM'd me on Instagram asking for a guided meditation and I thought what better time of year than as we're all looking ahead into the new year thinking about our dreams, daring to dream again, thinking about what we want to manifest into this next chapter of our lives. So I really hope that this time can allow you to fill your cup, bring in the positive energy that you desire, and really help you tune into gratitude for all the abundance that's already present in your life so that you can help invite more in. And if you've never meditated before, I promise it's not scary. I really invite you to be open minded, to allow your experience to be whatever it is and and I really hope that you come away from the next 15 to 20 minutes feeling some kind of energy shift. You can practice this meditation whenever you like, but I recommend returning to it regularly if you really want these manifestations and visualisations to embed themselves in your psyche. I hope you enjoyed this episode and as always I just want to send you this reminder that no matter where you are in your self confidence journey, no matter how you might feel today, you are always enough. 💛 Timestamps: 00:00 Introduction and purpose of the guided meditation 00:28 Intentions and benefits of the guided meditation 01:02 Beginning the meditation: finding a comfortable position 01:43 Tuning into Your Breath 02:21 Deep Cleaning Breaths 03:27 Grounding awareness and releasing tension 05:55 Focus on your heart 07:12 Invoking gratitude 09:01 Turning towards the future 10:56 Creating a path of intention 12:23 Setting a Clear Intention for the Year Ahead 14:03 Returning to Present Moment 14:20 Conclusion and gratitude If you’d like to be featured as the Casual Magic of the week: 💌 Notice a moment of casual magic in your week. How You Are Hustling Is All Wrong: The Secrets to Your Fulfilment (with Sahil Bloom)

Eeeeeep hi friends, welcome back to the 10th (!) episode of ✨ Finding your Casual Magic ✨ This week we're redefining wealth. What does it mean to be rich? How can society's definition of wealth actually lead us to feeling unfulfilled? To help me answer this I am joined by Sahil Bloom. Renowned entrepreneur, investor, writer of the newsletter ‘The Curiosity Chronicle’, and most excitingly, debut author of an upcoming book called ‘The 5 Types of Wealth’. Sahil has interviewed thousands of people around the world to redefine wealth in 5 compelling ways. I open the episode with a guided meditation to help you feel grounded before launching into the episode. From prioritising energy-creating tasks to unlocking more time in your day, creating deeper bonds, and building a powerful network to achieving financial independence, this conversation will remind you of what is most important in life. The episode closes with my ‘Casual Magic of the Week’ and we hear from Mar (@marumithreads on Instagram) who shares their Casual Magic, followed by intention setting for the week ahead. Why Doing Less is Better: How to Master Slow Productivity

Eeeep hello friends, welcome back to the ninth episode of ✨ Finding your Casual Magic ✨ Today we're talking about slow productivity. How to be a high functioning, productive powerhouse of a human who gets everything done, but also lives with slowness and ease and most importantly, joy. There is nothing more frustrating than being told to just relax and be happy when you have a million things to do on your plate. So I'm not going to do that today, instead I am here to acknowledge that we are all busy people with a lot to do. So what is slow productivity? Slow productivity is not about doing less, nor sacrificing the quality of your work or the speed with which it's done. It’s a mindset and a set of tools to work in a more intentional, mindful way that allows space for true rest and reflection. Because what you'll find as we dig into this episode is that the more we rest and the more that we slow down, the better we learn and digest information, the more creative we are and the better that our overall quality of work is. I just want to send you this reminder that no matter where you are in your self confidence journey, no matter how you might feel today, you are always enough. 💛 Timestamps: 00:00 Introduction 02:27 Guided meditation 04:48 The rise of burnout and hustle culture 10:06 Personal reflections on productivity and success 14:42 Rebuilding a mindful approach to productivity 18:28 Personal and cultural incentives to overwork 22:59 The relationship between money and happiness 24:44 Personal turning point post-university 27:40 Realisations from silent meditation 31:15 Introduction to mindful productivity 31:31 Importance of understanding your menstrual cycle 34:14 Embracing seasonality in productivity 35:12 Practical advice for mindful productivity 39:08 The art of saying no 44:02 Time blocking and scheduling breaks 46:32 Mindset for Slow Productivity 48:02 Handling Stress and Maintaining Productivity 49:05 Nostalgia and Applying it to the Present 52:00 Managing Expectations and Self-Worth 54:07 Defining What is Enough 55:00 Acknowledging Stress and Finding Relief 56:22 Casual Magic of the week 59:05 Weekly Reflection and Setting Intentions Links: Slowing Down as the World Speeds Up: https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-gift-aging/201812/slowing-down-the-world-speeds Employee Burnout Report: https://www.indeed.com/lead/preventing-employee-burnout-report Overwork and the rise of slow productivity: https://www.deccanherald.com/education/overwork-and-the-rise-of-slow-productivity-1204058.html 16 Employee Burnout Statistics You Can’t Ignore: https://everyonesocial.com/blog/employee-burnout-statistics/ ‘Rest is productive’: How slowing down at work can help you get more done: https://www.cnbc.com/2023/01/06/how-slowing-down-at-work-can-help-you-get-more-done.html Why Downtime Is Essential for Brain Health: https://health.clevelandclinic.org/why-downtime-is-essential-for-brain-health The Paradox of Pace: How Taking It Slow Enhances Productivity: https://akiflow.com/blog/slowing-down-can-speed-up-productivity/ Problems of Practice: https://practices.learningaccelerator.org/problem-of-practice/how-fast-should-we-be-moving-from-pilot-to-scale-what-will-help-us-best-achieve-sustainability If you’d like to be featured as the Casual Magic of the week: 💌 Notice a moment of casual magic in your week. Hiii friends, welcome back to the eighth episode of ✨ Finding your Casual Magic ✨ (I’m so excited for this guest episode eep!) Today we are talking all things self love!! The relationship we cultivate with ourselves, how we talk to ourselves behind the scenes, and how this can then impact the types of relationships we attract and how we go about making our dreams come true. Do you struggle to say no when someone asks you to an event that you don't want to go to for fear of what they'll think of you? Have you ever found yourself in relationships that don't serve you because you're searching for parts of yourself externally rather than cultivating your inner world? Do you ever wonder why everyone else is living a perfect life and you're stuck with all these problems you can't solve? Well today's guest is literally the person to help give some answers to these!! Tam Kaur is a self-love guru helping millions of young women become the most empowered versions of themselves through her motivational advice videos on topics from dating to healing, to her heart to hearts on her podcast ‘Self Obsessed’ and the wisdom shared in her new book ‘Buy Yourself the Damn Flowers’ Tam blends actionable advice with meaningful anecdotes to help you become the best version of yourself. I start the episode by leading a guided meditation to help you feel grounded and aware before we launch into the topic of self love exploring spirituality, relationships, shifting mindsets, self development, childhood, post university life and of course YouTube. The episode closes with the ‘Casual Magic of the Week’ which myself and Tam share before hearing from Elena who shares their Casual Magic followed by intention setting for the week ahead. When Seeking Validation Needs to Stop: Can Insecurity Evolve into Confidence?

Why hello my friends, welcome back to the seventh episode of ✨ Finding your Casual Magic ✨ DISCLAIMER: This episode discusses body insecurities and unhealthy relationships, listener discretion is advised. In this episode we’re talking about the magic that is self confidence!! At the time of recording I have never felt more confident in who I am. I wear what I want to wear and show up in the world in ways that feel extremely authentic. I feel like I have undergone so many challenges and looked at so many of my insecurities or things that I felt shame about and I just feel like the way that I now exist is authentically me and it feels so good. Of course, I still wake up often feeling insecure and of course I still have days where I enter old patterns of thinking but in general, if I zoom out and take a step back, I do feel, dare I say it, confident. To start the episode I invite you to do a short guided meditation to really enter this space with me and let whatever's happened in your day settle. I then share some facts on the topic of self confidence, sense of self & self esteem, looking at a few different definitions and some research about confidence in the field of cognitive psychology. I then launch into the episode focusing on how to walk through the world with confidence answering the questions: how do we build trust within ourselves to navigate challenge? How do we build a trust that we can show up authentically in spaces where maybe that feels scary to do so and to trust that everything will be okay to have this intrinsic safety within ourselves, even when the external world presents challenges to that? I close the episode with my ‘Casual Magic of the Week’ and then we hear from Aparajita who shares their Casual Magic followed by intention setting for the week ahead. Grab a journal or open your notes app and join me as we ask ourselves… What went well this week? What am I proud of? What is something that challenged me this week? Based on these reflections, choose a one word intention for your coming week. I just want to send you this reminder that no matter where you are in your self confidence journey, no matter how you might feel today, you are always enough. 💛 Links to research mentioned: What Self-Esteem Is and Is Not - Nathaniel Branden What Is Self-Confidence? Hiiiiii friends, welcome back to the sixth episode of ✨ Finding your Casual Magic ✨ (another wonderful guest episode!!!) This is the tandem episode to last week's which was all about finding your purpose. How do we know what to pursue in our lives? How do we know if something is the right path for us? And what do we do if later down the line, the path that we thought was what we wanted maybe doesn't serve us anymore? Today I am SO excited to be interviewing my dear friend Eve Cornwell, who has a lot of answers to these questions. Eve became known for wanting to become a lawyer. She started vlogging at university while studying law and amassed a huge audience with her unique editing style and original storytelling abilities, I can always remember being so immensely inspired by how creative and high effort her videos were. But whilst the world knew her as this ambitious trainee lawyer, I was lucky enough to know her as Eve, one of my funniest, bravest, impact driven friends. She has also been a huge role model for me in learning to embrace my sexuality and queerness. In this episode, I open with a short guided meditation before we talk all about Eve’s journey. From quitting law, going offline, coming back online, owning her queerness, her YouTube journey and getting married we cover it all. I close the episode with my ‘Casual Magic of the Week’ and then we hear from one of you guys followed by intention setting for the week ahead. Grab a journal or open your notes app and join me as we ask ourselves… What went well this week? What is a little joy that you can celebrate? What is something that challenged me this week? Based on these reflections, choose a one word intention for your coming week. I am so grateful that you’re here and I hope you love this episode, and if no one has told you today, you are enough. 💛 Follow Eve on Instagram: evecornwell Timestamps: 00:00:00: Introduction 00:01:02: Introducing Eve Cornwell 00:04:16: Guided Meditation 00:05:54: Eve's decision to pursue a career in law 00:08:46: The reality of law school and its impact 00:11:33: Eve's expectations of her training contract 00:13:30: Sacrifices in the legal profession 00:15:50: Staying in law despite the challenges 00:16:22: Eve's online presence and its impact on her legal career 00:18:16: The conflict between YouTube authenticity and legal professionalism 00:20:14: Realising the misfit with being a lawyer 00:21:00: The identity crisis during the legal career 00:22:48: Navigating a queer discovery journey 00:23:29: Conflict with maintaining online presence and legal career 00:30:08: Embracing career change and discomfort 00:31:06: Product management and finding a fulfilling career 00:32:10: Separating purpose from career 00:35:16: Articulateness and academic prowess in law 00:36:33: Journey to embracing queer identity 00:37:52: The Journey of Queer Self-Acceptance 00:38:33: Proposing to My Girlfriend 00:40:03: The Challenge of Reclaiming Marriage 00:43:25: Redefining Queer Rituals and Norms 00:44:44: Embracing Queerness in a Heteronormative Workspace 00:47:18: Words of Wisdom and Advice on Queerness 00:50:02: Advice for Career Changes 00:56:14: Current Joys and New Hobbies 00:56:40: Introduction to climbing 00:57:16: Casual Magic of the week 01:00:18: Weekly reflection and intentions 01:02:26: Closing thoughts and wisdom If you’d like to be featured as the Casual Magic of the week: 💌 Notice a moment of casual magic in your week. Stop searching for your purpose: create it!

Hi friendsss, welcome back to the fifth episode of ✨ Finding your Casual Magic ✨ (five episodes already ahhh) Today in this solo episode we’re talking about purpose dun dun dun!!! I feel like purpose is the source of so much existentialism, so much fear, scariness but we're going to try and make it a little less scary. Why do we feel motivated to get out of bed every morning? Why is it we might feel compelled to change jobs? Why is it we feel we need to make changes to our life? Or why do we feel content living the way that we are? One could argue that all of these things come down to a sense of purpose, guiding all of our decisions is that North Star of our purpose in the world but the sad thing is, it can sometimes feel quite elusive. Many of us don't know what our purpose is and some of us would rather not think about that because it can be a dramatic and scary topic. But the thing is, all of our decisions, day to day, big and small, are driven by our sense of purpose. So what if, rather than waiting to discover our purpose, we could create it? Before we get into today's topic about finding and creating our purpose I start the episode with a guided meditation where we really just take a moment to be, to ground ourselves, to come back to our breath. I then look at three main routes that one can use to find their purpose in this world. I'll be looking at how culture can affect our sense of purpose, how our society and the people around us affect our purpose. I'm also going to share some of my own personal journeys with discovering what my purpose is in this world. Sources for this ep! Everything you wish you were taught about adulting in your 20s: investing, finding love and creating new homes (with Maddie Borge)

Hi friends, welcome back to the fourth episode of ✨ Finding your Casual Magic ✨ (another guest episode yayyy) This is the tandem episode to last week's which was all about the pressure to do and be everything in your twenties. This podcast works in an alternating fashion where I first explore a topic alone and then I bring in a guest who is an expert on this theme just to kind of dig into it a bit further. Today I’m joined by someone who absolutely embodies seizing this chapter of life… Maddie Borge is a Norwegian creator, now based in London for the last few years since university, who has been creating content online for almost 10 years. In the last few years she's seen huge success creating relatable lifestyle content as she navigates everything from studying for university exams, to flat hunting, to taking herself on inspiring solo adventures. Maddie is such an empowering force for young women wishing to take control of their finances, daring to take that solo trip and reminding us to not only dream big, but actually make it happen with practical tools. In this episode, I open with a short guided meditation before digging into everything from the pressure we face to do and be everything in our twenties, how we can better prioritise our time and energy around our goals, Maddie’s best financial advice that she wishes everyone in their twenties knew and what brings her authentic daily joy from cultivating a sense of home to maintaining her sense of independence in romantic relationships. I close the episode with my ‘Casual Magic of the Week’ and then we hear from one of you guys followed by intention setting for the week ahead. Grab a journal or open your notes app and join me as we ask ourselves… What went well this week? What am I proud of this week? What is a little win that I can celebrate? What is Happening to Us in Our 20s!? How to navigate the pressure of your twenties for joy and success (with research)

Hiiiii friends, welcome back to this lil corner of the internet!!! The third episode of ✨Finding your Casual Magic✨  (it still doesn’t feel real ahhh). Thank you so much for all the love on my first two episodes, the launch of episode 1 was incredible and I had the most amazing time chatting with Ruby in episode 2. It means the world to feel so supported, so grateful for you all    But in TODAYS episode I am back with another solo episode and this time we are tackling our 20s!! The grand topic that is the stress and pressure of being in your twenties and the pressure to be and do everything all the time, all at once. No matter who you are, where you're from, what your cultural background is, I think your twenties universally feel like a very stressful time.   As always, I open with a short guided meditation which allows you to settle in and feel grounded in the otherwise hectic, whirlwind of our lives. I start the episode with some facts, studies show that young people now have the poorest mental health of any age group, which is actually a reversal from two decades ago when they had the lowest incidence of common mental disorders. That’s wild!!! I also talk all about post-graduation life, dealing with burnout, the impact of social media, cultural and societal pressures and how to live more intentionally in your twenties.   I close the episode with my ‘Casual Magic of the Week’ and a Casual Magic from one of you guys followed by intention setting for the week ahead. Grab a journal or open your notes app and join me as we ask ourselves…   What is something I’m proud of this week? What went well this week? What is a little win that I can celebrate? What is something that didn’t go well this week? What is something that challenged me this week? Based on these reflections, choose a one word intention for your coming week. I am so grateful that you’re here and I hope you love this first episode, and if no one has told you today, you are enough. 💛 Links: Productivity Culture and why we are getting “burnout” in our 20s More people in early 20s out of work from ill health than early 40s - study The Data Confirms It: Your 20s Will Probably Be The Worst Years Of Your Adult Life Timestamps 00:00: Introduction to the episode 00:46: The Stress and Pressure of Being in Your 20s 02:47: Guided Meditation Session 04:27: What's Happening to People in Their 20s? 07:00: The Impact of Social Media 09:04: The Challenge of Comparison 11:26: Statistical Insights on Mental Health 13:00: The Hopeful Future 14:38: Society's Emphasis on Early Success 16:08: The Myth of Meritocracy 18:22: Personal Examples and Challenges 21:19: Hard Work and Class Ceiling 22:16: The Importance of Art 23:07: Challenges in dreaming big 23:52: Importance of artistic education for children 24:25: Personal experiences with education and support 25:17: Book recommendation: The Defining Decade  25:57: Intentionality in your 20s 27:25: Love as a skill 28:51: The importance of intentionality in love life 30:07: Post-graduation challenges and burnout 33:10: Pressure and uncertainty after university 36:02: Life as a series of chapters 37:46: Conclusion: Living in the present with long-term thinking 39:35: Casual Magic of the week 41:00: Reflecting on the week and setting intentions If you’d like to be featured as the Casual Magic of the week: 💌 Notice a moment of casual magic in your week. Why Redefining Productivity Works: Find Authentic Joy (with Ruby Granger)

Hi friends, welcome back to ✨ Finding your Casual Magic ✨ (ahhhh I still can’t believe I’m saying that) and welcome to the first ever guest episode!! The way this podcast works is I am going to find a guest who pairs really well to the theme of my previous solo episode and in episode one I introduced Casual Magic, looking into what it means to find beauty in the mundane moments of every day. When I was brainstorming who represents this idea best I couldn’t think of anyone better than my dear friend Ruby Granger.   Ruby has one of the most incredibly inspiring journeys, she started off as a studytuber similar to myself, inspiring people to love learning, to feel less stressed about exams and to kind of find this intrinsic joy within studying. Not only is Ruby this powerhouse YouTuber with almost a million subscribers who she inspires in such a multitude of ways but she is also so much more than that, the way that she carries herself as a person and on the Internet radiates kindness.   After gracefully receiving a rejection from Oxford, Ruby went on to study English literature at Exeter University and recently just did a masters at Oxford so she is such a testament to not letting rejection define you and to continue striving for your goals as you enter different seasons of life.   In every episode I begin with a short guided meditation which allows you to settle in and feel grounded in the otherwise hectic, whirlwind of our lives before myself and Ruby dig into everything from her successes to her failures, her incredibly inspiring mindset on the world and also how she finds joy independent of her achievements.   The episode closes with ‘Casual Magic of the Week’ followed by intention setting for the week ahead. Grab a journal or open your notes app and join me as we ask ourselves…   What went well this week? What are you proud of this week? What is something that challenged me this week? Based on these reflections, choose a one word intention for your coming week.   I am so grateful that you’re here and I hope you love this first episode, and if no one has told you today, you are enough. 💛   Follow Ruby on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@RubyGranger8 Follow Ruby on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/_rubygranger/   If you’d like to be featured as the Casual Magic of the week: 💌 Notice a moment of casual magic in your week. The Secret to Happiness: What is Casual Magic and how to find it

Hi friends, welcome to this brand new cosy lil corner of the internet!!! The first EVER episode of  ✨ Finding your Casual Magic ✨ (ngl I’m a lil scared hehe). Casual magic is about how we find beauty in the mundane everyday. We tend to look forward to the 1% of days in our lives to find joy, like the birthday, the wedding, the job promotion. But honestly, 99% of our lives are just the same routines — and how sad would it be if we only chose to experience joy 1% of the time? Casual magic is about looking for these tiny moments in every day that are casually magic. In my first episode I open with a short guided meditation which allows you to settle in and feel grounded in the otherwise hectic, whirlwind of our lives. I then share with you my journey on how I became a studytuber, the inspiration behind my channel name and how I discovered Casual Magic. I share examples of when Casual Magic has played an important part in my life, including how I managed to balance my increasing workload and university life whilst navigating mental health challenges within my family. I close the episode with my ‘Casual Magic of the Week’ followed by intention setting for the week ahead. Grab a journal or open your notes app and join me as we ask ourselves… What went well this week? What is a little win that I can celebrate? What is something that challenged me this week?
