At Last // Before It Broke: Wk 02
Pastor Donny shows us how Genesis 2 invites us into the profound truth that womanhood is not an accident, afterthought, or lesser version of humanity, but God's intentional, dignified, and beautiful design. When God forms the woman from Adam's side, He's not scrambling to fix a problem. He's carefully crafting a gift with purpose, wisdom, and love. This passage challenges us to recover what we might call holy wonder, the kind of wonder Adam expressed when he first saw Eve and declared 'this at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh.' In a world that either erases the distinctions between men and women or exaggerates them to diminish value, Genesis 2 shows us a better way: equal worth, shared humanity, and different roles working together in beautiful harmony. The woman begins with God, not with man's need or approval. Her identity, value, and purpose flow from her Creator. This matters deeply for how we honor women in our churches, marriages, and daily interactions. Sin has twisted God's good design into blame, control, and criticism, but Jesus came to restore what was broken. He gave Himself for His bride, modeling the sacrificial love that should mark every relationship. Whether married or single, male or female, we're called to see one another through the lens of God's perfect design, treating each person as the precious gift they truly are.

Not Good // Before It Broke: Wk 01
This exploration of Genesis 2:18-20 takes us back to a profound moment in creation when God declares something 'not good' for the very first time. Before sin entered the world, before any brokenness touched humanity, God looked at Adam in paradise and said it was not good for him to be alone. This isn't a statement about Adam's spiritual deficiency or lack of relationship with God. Rather, it reveals something fundamental about how we were designed: we were created for relationship, not isolation. What's remarkable is that God saw Adam's need before Adam himself recognized it. As Adam named the animals, he began to see what God already knew - there was no one who corresponded to him, no helper fit for him. This passage challenges our modern tendency to equate independence with strength and needing others with weakness. Before the fall, before sin twisted everything, God embedded into the fabric of creation this truth: human beings need community, companionship, and connection. Whether we're married or single, young or old, the call remains the same - we were never meant to carry life alone. The invitation here is to stop pretending we're fine in our isolation and to bring our deepest needs to the God who sees us completely and provides perfectly.

The Flask // Whatever It Takes: Wk 05
Mark 14 takes us into an intimate moment where a woman breaks open an alabaster flask of expensive perfume worth a year's wages and pours it over Jesus. The act is immediately criticized by onlookers who call it wasteful, yet Jesus defends her, calling it beautiful. We're confronted with a piercing question: what does our worship reveal about what we truly treasure? The woman's broken flask becomes a mirror reflecting our own hearts. Are we holding tightly to our own flasks of comfort, control, money, or secret sin while claiming to follow Jesus? The passage challenges us to move beyond mere admiration of Christ to complete surrender. We can attend church, speak positively about Jesus, and even call ourselves Christians while still withholding areas of our lives from His lordship. But genuine worship isn't about giving God our leftovers or maintaining our dignity. It's about breaking open everything we've been protecting and pouring it out before the One who poured Himself out completely for us on the cross. The beauty of this story is that costly devotion always outlives the moment, creating a witness that echoes through eternity.

The Blood // Whatever It Takes: Wk 04
This powerful exploration of Mark 5 invites us into a moment where desperation meets divine grace. We encounter a woman who has suffered for twelve long years with a condition that drained her physically, financially, and emotionally. Every attempt at healing only made things worse, yet when she hears about Jesus, something shifts. Her story teaches us that desperation is not our enemy when it drives us to Christ. Sometimes God allows everything else to fail so we finally recognize that Jesus has been our only hope all along. The woman's faith wasn't polished or theologically perfect—it was simply real. She pushed through the crowd, through her shame and weakness, to touch the hem of Jesus' garment. What's remarkable is that Jesus stopped in the middle of urgent business to notice one hurting person. He didn't just heal her body; He restored her dignity, called her 'daughter,' and sent her away with peace. This reminds us that Jesus never loses individuals in the crowd. Our needs are never too small for His attention. The message challenges us both personally and corporately: if Jesus stops for one more, shouldn't we? As we navigate our own struggles, we're called to stop reaching for substitutes and reach for the Savior whose blood was shed so we could be made completely whole.

The Homecoming // Whatever It Takes: Wk 03
This Easter message takes us deep into the heart of Luke 15 and the story of the prodigal son, revealing truths that shake us awake to the realities of sin and grace. We discover that sin operates like a deceptive buffet—promising satisfaction at the front end but leaving us miserable and empty in the end. The younger son's journey from his father's house to the pig pen illustrates how sin always takes us farther than we ever intended to go, costing us more than we wanted to pay. Yet the beauty of this story isn't found primarily in the son's rebellion or even his repentance—it's found in the father's relentless love. While we see the son's reckless living on one side of the screen, we witness the father's patient watching and waiting on the other. This Easter, we're reminded that genuine repentance isn't just feeling bad about consequences; it's agreeing with God about our sin and turning toward His goodness. The father's response—running, embracing, celebrating—shows us that God doesn't reluctantly tolerate repentant sinners. He rejoices to welcome them home. The resurrection of Jesus makes this homecoming possible, paying the price for our sin and opening the way back to the Father's house where there's always abundance, always acceptance, always celebration for those who were dead but are now alive.

The Roof // Whatever It Takes: Wk 01
What happens when the crowd becomes the barrier instead of the pathway to Jesus? This powerful exploration of Mark 2 challenges us to examine whether we're making room for others or inadvertently blocking their way. We encounter four friends who refuse to accept obstacles when their paralyzed companion needs Jesus. Their determination leads them to literally tear through a roof, demonstrating that real faith doesn't stop at closed doors—it finds another way. The passage reveals something profound: Jesus sees faith that acts, not just faith that agrees. When these men lowered their friend through the ceiling, their belief became visible in dirt falling on heads and light streaming through an unexpected opening. But here's where it gets even deeper—Jesus addresses the man's sins before his paralysis, reminding us that our greatest need isn't always what seems most obvious. We live in a world obsessed with surface fixes, yet Jesus goes straight to the heart every time. This story isn't just about a miracle; it's about authority, transformation, and glory. When Jesus changes one more life, God receives the glory, and people walk away saying they've never seen anything like it. The question we must wrestle with is simple yet profound: who is our 'one more,' and what are we willing to do to bring them to Jesus?

The God of the Garden // In the Beginning: Wk 08
We often view boundaries as restrictive forces that limit our freedom and steal our joy, but Genesis 2 reveals a radically different picture of God's heart toward us. This passage shows us that God is not a cosmic killjoy sitting in heaven trying to ruin our fun. Instead, we discover a God who places us intentionally, provides for us generously, and gives us meaningful purpose before ever establishing a single boundary. The garden of Eden wasn't just functional—it was delightful, filled with trees that were both good for food and pleasant to the sight. Rivers flowed with abundance, precious stones and gold were present, and beauty surrounded Adam on every side. Before God ever said no to one tree, He said yes to an entire garden. This teaches us something profound: God's boundaries are not evidence of His stinginess but proof of His protection. Like a parent who tells a child not to run into traffic, God's restrictions aren't meant to limit life but to guard it. The real temptation we all face is fixating on the one thing God has withheld while ignoring the thousand blessings He has already provided. When we reprogram our minds to see God's commands through the lens of His overwhelming generosity, we begin to understand that His boundaries flow from His love, not His desire to control us.

Don't Waste Your Trials
In this powerful message, TJ challenges us to view our trials not as obstacles to overcome alone, but as divine opportunities to draw closer to Christ. Through the story of Lazarus in John 11, we discover that when Mary and Martha faced their brother's death, their first instinct was to run to Jesus. This becomes our model: in our darkest moments, when medical reports devastate us, when relationships crumble, when children wander, our response must be to seek Jesus first. The sermon reveals three transformative purposes for our trials: they bring us to Jesus, make us like Jesus, and point others to Jesus. What strikes deeply is the reality that sometimes our greatest trials come precisely when we're doing exactly what God asked us to do. Paul and Silas sang hymns in prison after obeying God's vision to minister in Macedonia, and their faithfulness led to the salvation of an entire household. We're reminded that our trials are never wasted when surrendered to God. The challenge becomes personal: Who is watching us navigate our struggles? Whose eternal destiny might be influenced by our faithfulness in suffering? This isn't about pretending pain doesn't hurt, but about recognizing that our momentary afflictions have eternal purpose when placed in the hands of a God who specializes in turning the greatest battles into the greatest victories.

Rest & Run: Created to Stop. Called to Go // In the Beginning: Wk 06
This message confronts us with a profound tension we all live in: the exhaustion of running without rest and the emptiness of resting without purpose. Drawing from Genesis 2, we discover that God's rest wasn't born from fatigue but from completion. He rested because His work was finished, sufficient, and very good. This changes everything about how we understand rest. Biblical rest isn't collapse or escape—it's confidence. It flows from finished work, not from burnout. God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, inviting us into a rhythm of stopping, trusting, and delighting in Him. Sabbath becomes an act of faith, declaring that the world doesn't depend on us, that we're valuable even when we stop, and that God remains in control when we cease. But rest isn't the finish line—it's the starting block. The message then shifts to 1 Corinthians 9, where we're reminded that we're all in a race. We rest because Christ finished the saving work, but we run because the mission continues. Running well means saying no on purpose, training with intention, and living for what lasts. This is the rhythm scripture calls us to: rest because the work that saves us is finished, and run because the calling is still in front of us.

Blessed Before Busy // In the Beginning: Wk 05
In Genesis 1:28-31, we encounter a profound truth that challenges our modern approach to life: we were blessed before we were busy. This passage reveals God's intentional order—He blesses humanity first, then calls us to fruitfulness and purpose. Before any responsibility lands on our shoulders, before any command is given, God empowers us with His divine favor. This isn't sentimental well-wishing; it's functional enablement. The Hebrew word 'barak' means God equipped us with everything needed to fulfill His calling. We see this pattern repeated in the Great Commission, where Jesus brackets His marching orders with reminders of His authority and presence. The call to 'be fruitful and multiply' extends beyond biological reproduction—it's about life overflowing, influence spreading, and God's blessing moving through us into the world. Yet our culture has shifted from expansion to contraction, from trust to fear, prioritizing personal comfort over divine calling. The fertility rate has dropped from 3.7 to 1.6 children per woman, reflecting not just demographic change but spiritual retreat. God's design was never about survival mode or turning inward—it was about overflow. Like a healthy tree that naturally produces fruit when properly rooted, our fruitfulness flows from staying connected to God's blessing. The question we must wrestle with is simple yet piercing: Is God's blessing stopping with us, or moving through us? When we walk in God's blessing, fruitfulness follows naturally, and life spreads far beyond what we could manufacture on our own.
