In Memory of Maurice White Mix

I avoided the really obvious hits that you can hear everywhere and went for my personal faves, and a solid dose of the music that went on to shape the unique sound of Earth Wind and Fire from his early years working with two great mentors to him, Ramsey Lewis and Charles Stepney.I got so much pleasure recording this – I hope you enjoy as much as I did! LV Words & Music

Ahead of their live show at St Pancras Old Church, here's a chat I had with the two boys from LV, Will and Simon, discussing their beginnings, their D&B period, linking up with Keysound and Hyperdub, working with Joshua Idehen, Omkalumkoolkat, and the new project featuring Armenian pianist, Tigran Hamasyan.Ancient Mechanisms’ is the fourth album by globetrotting London production duo LV. It traces a train of thought that was sparked by a live session with Tigran Hamasyan back in 2012: two and a half years down the line and a trip to Belgium later, the finished record is as much about the workings of musical artefacts as it is about putting the virtuoso pianist into new contexts.lvlvlv.bandcamp.com/album/ancient-mechanismsdice.fm/lv-30th-oct-st-pancra…church-london-ticketsTRACKLISTLV - TransitionIan Pooley - What's Your Number (Jazzanova Remix)Bad Company - The NineLes Voleurs - Cabin FeverDJ Vadim - Got To RockLV - GlobetrottingLV & Joshua Idehen - Never TiredLV & Okmalumkoolkat - BoomslangTigran Hamasyan & LV - Rain ShadowLV Ft Tigran Hamasyan - Jump & ReachLV - CarillonLV - Quick ReturnLV - Broken MomentLV - Dansaertstraat Hosted on Acast. (http://www.gillespetersonworldwide.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/DJ_NATURE_ch024FRONT-e1349256144450.jpg)It's been a while since we recorded one of our podcasts and that's primarily down to our move back to Brownswood and the renovation of the basement studio. We're back in business now though and kicking off with DJ.NATURE aka Nature Boy aka Milo - Wild Bunch OG, Major Force West affiliate and connoisseur of that good stuff... full spectrum... from hip-hop to house and techno and beyond. Gilles hooked up with him for a chat about his worldwide travels and the inspirations behind his new record - 'Return Of The Savage' - forthcoming on Golf Channel Recordings (http://www.golfchannelrecordings.com/). Rugged and raw basement soul vibes - just how we like it. What's more, he recorded a dope "Influences" mix for us.You can download the podcast HERE (http://media.blubrry.com/gillespeterson/content.blubrry.com/gillespeterson/96_Gilles_with_DJ_NATURE.mp3) [right-click-and-save on a PC // ctrl+click on a Mac]…...

To this end, I am running the London Marathon on April 17th on behalf of the Steve Reid Foundation.” GP.(http://brownswoodrecordings.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/Steve-Reid-.png)This summer brought the success of the rooftop party and we are pleased to announce that we raised £1,000 for the foundation.A big thanks to the venue organisers – the Bootstrap Company (http://www.bootstrapcompany.co.uk/13_dalston_roof_park), those who came and danced the...

    Gilles Peterson Worldwide Vol.5 No.1 // Ross Allen x Gilles P interview

(http://brownswoodrecordings.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/gilles_P_masterpiece.jpg)A few weeks back, Gilles was a guest on Ross Allen's Ministry of Sound radio show, coinciding with the release of Gilles' brand new Masterpiece compilation. Typically, as the two are firm friends and kindred spirits, what was supposed to be a short interview snowballed into a 2 hour marathon and threw up some amazing insight into Gilles' musical roots and broadcasting career. So much so that we felt compelled to re-up for anyone who missed it. Blown away by the tracks on her debut EP, we invited the West London based singer songwriter to make the trek out East (well... Old Street) to perform at our Record Store Day shindig in April. She came... and she killed it. Here are some words and music with Gilles about her aforementioned wonderful EP [iTunes (http://itunes.apple.com/gb/artist/obenewa/id315996107)]; the artists that have inspired her; and her collaborations with the legendary Dego (4hero/2000Black).You can download the podcast HERE (http://media.blubrry.com/gillespeterson/content.blubrry.com/gillespeterson/87_Gilles_with_Obenewa.mp3) [right-click-and-save on a PC // ctrl+click on a Mac]… or subscribe to Gilles’ podcasts via iTunes (http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/gilles-peterson/id254695278)

Many of my closest friends, family and work colleagues are there. It is my second home. As a DJ I have spent some of my most inspired nights in Japan. I always come back inspired, refreshed and motivated. The Japanese people have always shown me love and affection - they are the most passionate music fans and if they like what you do - they let you know! We all need that in life. Japan is a positive nation and as such I am sure it will eventually recover from it's current trauma. I hope you enjoy this mix that I recorded today featuring some Japanese tunes that have touched me over the years.Enjoy and of course...Ganbare NipponGPDownload the mix HERE (http://media.blubrry.com/gillespeterson/content.blubrry.com/gillespeterson/81_Gilles_Pray_For_Japan_Mix.mp3) [right-click-and-save on a PC // ctrl+click on a Mac]
