Good Beer Bad Movie Night

Usually we watch terrible movies and drink great beer. Sometimes the movies are better than bad, but the beer is always delicious. All the while we sit and talk about the beers, the movies, and any random stuff that just pops in there.

    GBBMN Episode 10 - Cujo

(Previously released in October 2019)Happy Halloween all you lovely listeners out there! Take a listen to what, most likely will be the longest episode of our show! How can we make an episode that goes longer than the length of the movie you ask? Well when you get guests on and go on a bit of an excursion it'll always bump up your time. The Good Beer Bad Movie Night went on tour for this episode and paid our friend Kris-from-Geelong a visit. We started the evening up with dinner and beer tastings at Little Creatures in Geelong. Then once back at Kris' we started our viewing of the Stephen King classic, "Cujo." We watched "Cujo" in honour of Kris' recent step into Doggy-fatherhood, and were accompanied by his great dane puppy, Ella, and his old black cat, Sabbath, throughout a good chunk of this episode. While watching "Cujo" we chatted about our love of Halloween, all things Stephen King (films and books), we introduce our listeners to the Gheory Scale from the American Good Beer Bad Movie Night, murderous rabbits, Moon Dog Brewing’s new venue Moon Dog World, Mike's trip to Thailand, Reuben's path of music exploration and the discovery of the American/Cambodian band, Dengue Fever, and the Mongolian band, Hanggai, also a story how he once flooded his parents' car in a flash flood. How Kris and Reuben grew up watching horror films (Reuben was provided a steady stream of horror films from his Nana without the knowledge of his parents), and we even started to watch the movie. "The Howling 3" starring Barry Humphries, AKA Dame Edna, and we get into the weeds with Kris and Reuben’s love of "Star Wars" and Mike’s ambivalence towards it.We also mentioned a few friends of the show on this episode. We spoke about Marz-from-Glenroy who probably wouldn't mind the beers at Little Creatures,  Charlotte from Cleveland's husband Jonah-from-Cleveland and his giant St. Bernard, Lucy, and Elan & Maya-from-Jersey City who, at the time of this episode, were gearing up for their wedding celebrations in which Reuben was soon to be on his way to attend. The beers had at Little Creatures Geelong were:1) Little Creatures Brewery Dog Days Summer Ale2) Little Creatures Brewery Pilsner3) Little Creatures Brewery Elsie Steam Ale4) Furphy B5eer Refreshing Ale5) Little Creatures Brewery East Side Pale Ale6) Little Creatures Brewery XPA7) Little Creatures Brewery IPA8) White Rabbit Brewery Dark Ale9) Little Creatures Brewery StoutThe beers we had while watching "Cujo" were:1) Southern Bay Brewing Session IPA2) Moon Dog Craft Brewery Vinnie's IPA3) Fox Hat Brewing Red Pelt India Red Ale4) Six String Brewing Company and Redwood Distribution Dub Dry Hopped Hazy IPA with Papaya5) 3 Ravens Brewery Melon Juicy Watermelon IPA6) Moon Dog Craft Brewery Two Wolf Moon Sloe Gin Fizz Cocktail Ale7) La Sirene Brewing Paradoxe Farmhouse Ale8) Dainton Brewery Red Velvet Choc Cherry NEIPA9) Wayward Brewing, Toby's Estate Coffee, and Grumpy Donuts Coffee and Donuts Milk StoutIf you'd be so kind it would be awesome if you could leave us a 5 star rating, subscribe on your perferred podcatcher, give us a like on facebook, a follow on instagram, shoot us an email at [email protected], and if you're feeling especially generous then why not support us financially via Mad Alice Productions' Patreon Page.

    GBBMN Episode 11 - Starcrash

*(Previosly release in 2019)November's episode is hitting you guys pretty late, but here it is. Check the link in our bio. In honor of the release of @starwars we decided to watch a couple of #starwars inspired pieces of crap. First on the chopping block was the 1978 spaghetti sci-fi, "Starcrash" starring none other than the @davidhasselhoffWe get into the weeds about why Micheal doesn't like "Star Wars" yet Reuben loves it, we do agree that "Spaceballs" is incredible, though. We talk about the life and times of Rick Moranis, Reuben's recent trip to the states to celebrate @elan_meltzer & @mayammeltzer from Jersey City's wedding, and while on that trip he was a guest on these two incredible podcasts, @average_joe_pod and @atblackaaron Both of which are far better shows than this one and well worth your time. It was also on this trip that Reuben began to over eat, the problem started when he ate an entire pizza at @star_tavern. Reuben reminisced about his time spent at anime conventions in his 20s. We remarked on how much people abroad would appreciate the Australian craft beer scene with the likes of amazing brewers such as @moondogbrewing, @lasirenebrewing, @hargreaveshill, @mpbrewery, and @dainton.beer. While on his trip to the States, Reuben was able to visit @thebruery with his cousin @wavesofnoise and partner @alvi_talavera from LA. Mike also professed his love of @familyguyfox and his growing appreciation for winter. We also discovered what that whole @u.s.surgeongeneral stuff is all about on American beers which led to a conversation about the sad state of affairs in the American political system. Many friends of the show were mentioned on this episode most notably are @mr_dobalina from Philly and @casstenroberts’ Mum for their donations to our @patreon. We also shout out @thuyphamish’s great dessert cooking, Thy's confusion as to why we watch such terrible movies, @uri.meltzer from Boston and her trip with Mike and Reuben to @mrwestbar, and Reuben's folks @the_real_doccarson and Noel from New Jersey, and of course our friends over at the American @gbbmnpodcast.Beers were purchased from the @thirstycafe_bar and Mr. West and @brueryterreux and were:1) Hop Nation Brewing Company The Buzz American Red Ale2) Thunder Road Brewing Hop Star XPA3) Kaiju Beer Robo Hop Golden IPA4) Left Handed Giant Brewing The Beam of Light Wheat IPA5) The Bruery Trade Winds Belgian Tripel6) The Bruery Wit The Funk Wheat BeerIf you'd be so kind it would be awesome if you could leave us a 5 star rating, subscribe on your perferred podcatcher, give us a like on facebook, a follow on instagram, shoot us an email at [email protected], and if you're feeling especially generous then why not support us financially via Mad Alice Productions' Patreon Page.

GBBMN Episode 12 - Star Wars Holiday Special

We've made it to 12 episodes, and boy do we have a doozy for you to celebrate a year of #GoodBeerBadMovieNight (Australia style). @reuben_and_thy can hardly contain his excitement for #TheRiseofSkywalker and to celebrate its impending release the duo sat down to watch the most challenging film they have ever covered. The #StarWarsHolidaySpecial is a true endurance test for anyone who tries to enjoy #badmoviesSeeing that @starwars was playing on the Television, Reuben's kids, Bea and Ezra, rushed down to watch with us only to realize they were not in for your typical #starwars movie. Their patience didn't last very long. We quickly learned that this film is very much like the description of an unmade movie that came from the warped mind of @drfantasty from the @lpontheleft that has a cast that’s primarily made up of Wookies and no subtitles to translate their myriad grunts and howls. @george_lucasofficial hated this movie so much that he tried to erase it from existence, but thanks to some villains on the internet you can still find it with all the original 1978 commercial breaks. You know the movie is extra bad when you start to look forward to the commercials as a breather. We tried to fill the void of this movie by talking about as much bullsh*t as we could. We drew comparisons to the Empire and the 3rd Reich, @michaellaboski gets a lesson in American consumerism when he's introduced to the @pillsbury doughboy and @fruitoftheloom. We chatted about the #GoldenGirls and the brilliance that is @bea.arthur, and we do our best #Wookie impressions which none come close to how good Ricky from Orange's is.Additional shout outs go to @50footbrewery at the @gbbmnpodcast for introducing us to the existence of this movie, @jonahkruvant from Jersey City and his conversation with Reuben about the silliness of #IndianaJones 2 and 4, and @elan_meltzer from Jersey City for pointing out something hilarious from #OvertheTop that we egregiously missed out on.Our #scifibeer was purchased from @mrwestbar, @beer.360, and @purvis_beer and were:1) Brewfist Italian Ales (@brewfistbeer) Spaceman West Coast IPA2) Amundsen Brewery and Devils Peak Beer(@amundsenbrewery and @devilspeakbeer,) Chuggernaut NEIPA3) Dainton Beer (@dainton.beer) Supertrooper Imperial NEIPA4) Almanac Beer Company (@almanacbeer,) Tropical Galaxy Dry Hopped Farmhouse Ale5) Brasserie Dieu Du Ciel (@brasseriedieuduciel)The Facteur Cosmique Hybrid BeerIf you'd be so kind it would be awesome if you could leave us a 5 star rating, subscribe on your perferred podcatcher, give us a like on facebook, a follow on instagram, shoot us an email at [email protected], and if you're feeling especially generous then why not support us financially via Mad Alice Productions' Patreon Page.

GBBMN Episode 23 - Pink Flamingos

Back at the end of 2023, we put a button on the end of a very shitty year. Yes, we know, this episode was recorded almsot 2.5 years ago... And yes, it does take Reuben an exorbatant amount of time to edit episodes. He juggles a lot (filmmaking, work, and family) so there's not a lot of time to sit down and edit despite it being labor of love. That being said, we aren't going to stop making the show, after all it still is something we love doing. We still seldomly record and there are a few banked episodes ready in the wings for Reuben to start editing. In this episode we start off our double header of Gay Films and watch the incredible Pink Flamingos by the one and only Godfather of Irreverance, John Waters! This film is hilarious, disgusting and disturbing all at once, and by some way shape or form was reccommended to Reuben by his Mother. A conversation he'll have to have with her in the future. We do mention how bad 2023 was for us, but there were some bright spots, like finally getting to go to GABS together. We talk about indie cinema and how punk rock this movie is drawing parrallels to Ed Wood. Speaking of independent and irreverant, we talk about the newest installment of the Toxic Avenger, accidentally mislabeling it as something not Troma related... We have one especially big belly laugh at one particluar scene which reminded Reuben about the last time he laughed like that when he was hanging out with friend of the show and comedian, Gus from Sunshine.Reuben finds beers that match the movies we watch, and because we seldomly record, he is forced to cellar them for a lot longer than one probably should. These past-their-best-by-dates-beers reminded him of drinking an ancient budwieser he found with his friend Joe from New Jersey. The craft beers we drank were purchased from Mr. West, Hopheads, and The Western Craftery and were (photographs of beers were lost on Reuben's bricked phone, so we had to use photographs by these untappd users):1) Bad Shephard Brewing Co Lychee and Green Tee Lager (Photograph by Jason AKA Lancedmaster)2) Boatrocker Brewers and Distillers Saison  (Photograph by Marcus_hancock_9117)3) The Mill Brewery Pink Motel Rose Sour4) Dainton Brewery Flamingo Pink Lemonade Sour (Photograph by Micheal AKA emgete)5) Moon Dog Brewery Magic Eye IPA DDH West Coast IPA (Photograph by Amanda _Kingsley_3383)6) Bonehead Brewing, Mr. West, and D&K Asian Grocery Go Kinako Mochi Nitro Stout (Photograph by Psymyn)7) Bolero Snort Brewery Pumpkin Spice Moochiato Stout (Photograph by @jimmypa)The good beer snack of the episode was Reuben's pumpkin pie.If you'd be so kind it would be awesome if you could leave us a 5 star rating, subscribe on your perferred podcatcher, give us a like on facebook, a follow on instagram, shoot us an email at [email protected], and if you're feeling especially generous then why not support us financially via Mad Alice Productions' Patreon Page.

GBBMN Episode 13 - Can't Stop the Music

Strap on your time machine caps and head back to January when this episode was supposed to come out! Here, we were joined by friend of the show, @lessthanphill and his dog, Louie and cat, Oscar. Upon recording this episode he was on the cusp of fatherhood and we showered him with our saintly advice, although @michaellaboski did regale us of his horror stories of having twins. In honor of the film award season that just passed the duo decided to watch a couple of @the_razzies winners (?) starting with the very first #razzie winner, #cantstopthemusic We have to say thanks to Joe from New Jersey for helping us acquire this film. While distracting ourselves from watching this train wreck of a movie we discover that both @reuben_and_thy and Mike are shy poopers. We try to remember what @elan_meltzer taught us about the term "Plato" in regards to beer and wine tasting. We also start the year off wrong by offending almost every demographic possible, especially the LGBTQIA+ community and are egregiously apologetic (trigger warning), sorry @uri.meltzer! We spoke a little bit about @jonahkruvant and @nataliekruvant’s wedding, from which Reuben had recently returned from. We also found it very funny that the straightest man in this movie was played by @caitlynjenner. We also try and decide which Village Person is our favorite, and couldn't help but notice all the glorious mustaches. After the film finished we had an encore presentation of a @davidblack1964 produced documentary about his own filmmaking escapades, #ANightattheMoviesIndieStyle We were not kind in the dissection of it.In an attempt to stick with the theme of this being quite a #homoeroticfilm we lined up a solid list of #gaybeer purchased from @purvis_beer @beer.360 @bottle_house @thirstycafe_bar, and @mccoppinsabbotsford1) @holgatebrewhouse  Millenium Falcon Empiral IPA2)  @mrbanksbeer Mango Kettle Sour3) @sailorsgravebrewing Down She Gose4)  @brooklynbrewery Bel Air Sour5)  @moondogbrewing David Boysenbowie Sour Ale6) @coconspiratorsbeer & @frothbeermag Passion Fruit & Guava Hoppy Sour Ale7) @tinyrebelbrewco Peaches & Cream IPA8)  @3ravensbrewery and @mrwestbar TCDHWGSCBBMOCSNEIPA9) @bridgeroadbrewers Magical Christmas Unicorn Ice Cream Ale10)  @bigshedbeer Golden Stout TimeIf you'd be so kind it would be awesome if you could leave us a 5 star rating, subscribe on your perferred podcatcher, give us a like on facebook, a follow on instagram, shoot us an email at [email protected], and if you're feeling especially generous then why not support us financially via Mad Alice Productions' Patreon Page.

GBBMN Episode 22 - Gone Fishin'

We had to take the time machine back after we recorded this as this was techinically our first ever remote guest episode with Reuben's brother Elan from Fanwood and his other "Brother from another Mother (and Father)" Jonah from West Orange. This was recorded right on the cusp of Jonah becoming a Dad, and even before Elan's wife became pregnant with their daughter. Check out Elan's amazing instagram page, @HealhtyLivingMeltzers where he and his wife chronicle healthy meal options in fun and scientific ways. Jonah is an incredible writer. Check out his blog and if you'd like to read an awesome book check out "The Last Book Ever Written."Jonah teaches about the meaning of the words "Gone Fishing" and we give Peter from Albion a shout out who taught Reuben about the song of the same name which opens this episode. We talk about Greek Weddings and give a congratulative shout out to Sotiris and Denise from the Truck on their recent nuptials. Our conversation goes from the usual film commentary to dealing with modern anxiety brought about by existential dread and somehow fit gaga pits, frats, and JJ Abrams in there as well. Despite Jonah's shitty audio, both he and Elan brought so much insight into the viewing experience. The beers were purchanse at Carwny Cellars as well as a couple spots in New Jersey and were:1A) Sixpoint Brewery PilsnerB) Sapporo Premium LagerC) Deeds Brewing Company Half Time Pale Ale2) Allagash Brewing Company White Belgian Style Wheat Ale3A) Little Bang Brewing Co. GBBMN Episode 14 - Holmes & Watson

Here's our February episode coming to you 2 months late. Here we watched the 2018 Razzie winner for worst picture, "Holmes & Watson," and boy was it hard to get through. Thank goodness it was just shy of an hour and a half. This was recorded while Australia was on fire and we spoke about how there's probably better places to send your money than to Celeste Barber's gigantic famous people fundraiser. We start this episode off with Reuben giving Mike a present. Once the movie was going we debated the pronunciation of Ralph Fiennes, discussed Will Ferril's hits and misses, John C Reilly's, inability to give a bad performance, Reuben's online chess matches with Jonah from Jersey City and Brian from Colorado, and how Jonah had made a "Holmes & Watson" spoof when he was in high school and how it was probably leagues better than this trash. Our discussion after the movie moved towards our children. How Reuben's kids have picked up on the word, F**k, due to the podcast and an instagram story from their uncle Elan from Jersey City. How Mike's kids have an irrational fear of dogs, but if one seems okay and the other freaks out they both end up freaking out, it's a twin thing. We also talk about "Star Wars" and the conclusion to the "Skywalker Saga" and how much Reuben's kids enjoyed the whole "Star Wars" Journey. If you'd like to here about our takes on a good movie, "Dr. Sleep," then go check out the video review we did with Cassten from Mad Alice Productions here. Hopefully do more of these in thw future. Before getting to Mike's to watch the movie we went to Bodriggy Brewing Company and had some awesome beers. Once we got back to Mikes we had 5 more good beers that was purchased from Mccopins in Abbotsford, The Western Craftery in Sunshine, and Bottle House in Balaclave and were:1) Stomping Ground Brewing Co Gipps St Pale Ale2) Deeds Brewing  and Tallboy & Moose Make Beer  All Work and No Play DDH Hazy Double IPA3) Lindemans Brewery  Framboise Lambic4) Prairie Artisan Ales Lil' Nap Sour Ale  5) Your Mates Brewing Donnie Dark AleIf you'd be so kind it would be awesome if you could leave us a 5 star rating, subscribe on your perferred podcatcher, give us a like on facebook, a follow on instagram, shoot us an email at [email protected], and if you're feeling especially generous then why not support us financially via Mad Alice Productions' Patreon Page.

GBBMN Episode 15 - Mighty Peking Man

For episode 15 we had a new guest on the show, Marcus from Kingsville. When we recorded this (pre-Corona, which we laughed off as some distant threat) Marcus was on the cusp of fatherhood, and Phill & Pemmy from Ascot Vale had their beautiful baby boy (you noticing a bit of pattern here?). Marcus is heaps smarter than both of us and raises the IQ of the show 10 fold just by being included. We marveled at his myraid global travels and incredible multilingual skills, and to hear more about him we have an interview of him up on the Mad Alice Production Patreon page (see bottom of description for the link).Back when we were planning for this episode to come out in March we wanted it to line up with the release of "Godzilla Vs. Kong," well that's been pushed to November, but our kaiju double header is here anyway. Starting off with the giant ape focused one, here. While the movie runs its course we comment on the lead actress' absurd costume choice (Mike won this round of where's booby the first time her breast accidentally fell out), how crazy the fact is that everyone in this universe speaks Cantonese, @thatkevinsmith, Google’s deep fake and deep dream, the "incredible" films coming out of Uganda by @isaacnabwana (who's films we will cover on this show at some point), drugged up panthers and animal exploitation in general (especially the exploitation of giant apes and kaiju), "Curb Your Enthusiasm," and The Shaw Brothers illustrious careers.Another fact about Marcus is he has Celiac Disease, this means that we had to drink gluten free, which included 4 gluten free beers, 2 ciders, and 3 cocktails. The beers and ciders were from @mrwestbar in Footscay, @bottle_house in Balaclava, The Western Craftery in Sunshine, and a BWS in Braybrook. They drinks were:1) @twobaysbeer Pale Ale2) @toolbeer Repair Beer3) Marcus' Jamieson Whiskey Sour4) Two Bays Brewing Co IPA5) @mikkellerbeer Space Race NEIPA6) Mike's Hendrick's Gin Side Car7) @rekorderligcider Premium Passionfruit Cider8) @kaijubeer Golden Axe Crisp Apple Cider9) Reuben's Twist on Double Happiness's Great Leap Foward using lychees with white rum instead of vodka   If you'd be so kind it would be awesome if you could leave us a 5 star rating, subscribe on your perferred podcatcher, give us a like on facebook, a follow on instagram, shoot us an email at [email protected], and if you're feeling especially generous then why not support us financially via Mad Alice Productions' Patreon Page.

GBBMN Episode 16 - Shin Godzilla

Recorded back in early March (2020) when everyone thought the Coronavirus was some far off problem; we were getting excited for the release of "Kong Vs Godzilla" and lined up a kaiju double header. "Shin Godzilla" being the Godzilla half of it, and another edition of #goodbeergoodmovienightHere we are joined by Reuben’s "nephew" @henryh.com.au, where we open his eyes to the world of #craftbeer He also tells us about his adventures in New Zealand producing his first international music video for @benhazlewood’s "Lay Me Down." We finally give @h_town_joo and @cbmullins86 (Reuben's cousin and his wife) their long over due congratulations on their nuptials. We also congratulate Marcus-from-Kingsville on the birth of his daughter. We got some great listener responses from @50footbrewery (Pete from the American @goodbeerbadmovienight) where he teaches us what an actual farmhouse ale is.While the movie plays out we draw correlations to "Neon Genesis Evangelion" (the film shares the same director), discuss how Godzilla evolves like a Pokemon, and laugh at Japanese bureaucracy. Conversation also shifts towards urinals in the US vs Australia. Reuben's discovery of @prideofourfootscray Bar, and his sister, @uri.meltzer’s, quest for a bathroom on her last visit here. This obviously leads to the three of us trading off our gayest memories. To top it all off, We also discover a style of beer that Mike doesn't like.Beers were purchased from @mrwestbar @bottle_house and the @thewesterncraftery and were:1)@kaijubeer Paradise Pils2) Kaiju Beer Kaiju Krush Tropical Pale Ale3) Kaiju Beer Main Squeeze Passion Guava Session Ale4) @garageproject Shinrin Yoku Blended Cherry Blossom Sour w/ Sencha Green Tea5) @tallboyandmoose  Snot Goblin Cryo IPA with Passion Fruit6) Kaiju Beer Metamorphosis IPA7) Kaiju Beer Aftermath Double IPA8) Kaiju Beer Behemoth Double India Black Ale9) @leftbarrelbrewing Cerberus American Barleywine10) @littlebangbrewing Galactopus American BarleywineBig thanks to Reuben's other cousin, @wavesofnoise for fixing the audio on this one. GBBMN Episode 17 - Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Here it is, our Chanukah present to all of our dear listeners (Jewish and Non-Jewish alike) the first ever all family episode. It took a lot to record this one since it was also our very first remotely recorded episode, complete with lots of technical difficulties and antsy children. Speaking of kids, we had some non-alchoholic beers and a mocktail for them to try. This was Mike's kids' first exposure to Star Wars. It probably wasn't the best starting point for them... For Reuben's kids, they are Star Wars obsessed, so they were super keen to watch it, even though they knew the poor reputation it has. Due to the presence of the kids we made it all the way to the hour and 52 minute mark before we started swearing. While watching it, Reuben drew lots of comparisons to the original Clone Wars cartoon by Gendy Tartakovsky. We also chatted about our fun times at the water park, Funfields , racing each other on a waterslide dubbed, The Kraken. We both happened to be eating roast duck dishes that weekend. Reuben had a humble brag about his smoked Peking duck he made while Thuy (Mike's other half) made a Vietnamese roast duck with rice porridge. After the film ended and the kids went to bed our chat continued. This was recorded just at the end of the first COVID wave in Melbourne, so we had a good old coronachat. We both predicted the second wave with absolute certainty (it hit us 6 weeks after recording). We also talk about China (future overlords, please don't arrest us...).Beer was purchased from the lovely folks at Mr. West and were:1) Sobah Non-Alchoholic Beverages Lemon Aspen Pilsner2) Sobah Non-Alchoholic Beverages Pepperberry IPA3) Blue Milk Cocktail/Mocktail (Cocktail made with Cointreau and Hendricks Gin)4A) Hop Nation Brewing Company Site FP Muscat Golden Sour Ale4B) Hop Nation Brewing Company Site FP Riesling Golden Sour Ale5) Haandbryggeriet Dark Force Imperial Wheat StoutIf you'd be so kind it would be awesome if you could leave us a 5 star rating, subscribe on your perferred podcatcher, give us a like on facebook, a follow on instagram, shoot us an email at [email protected], and if you're feeling especially generous then why not support us financially via Mad Alice Productions' Patreon Page.

    GBBMN Episode 18 - Cats

About a week or two before we slid into our second lockdown we were able to wrap up our double header of family episodes we were lucky to be able to head on over to Mike's place and record with both our families together and watch "Cats." An uncompromised nightmarish vision with only a hint of a story and a strong sense of #uncannyvalley from start to finish. Between Mike's partner, Thuy from Keilor, looking up what the plot was and some notes from #catsthemovie Super-Fan, Simon from the Video Store, we were able to parse together some semblance of a story. Maybe if there was 1/3 less singing and they replaced that with dialogue that explained the story and characters this would be slightly more watchable...The only reason Mike's kids wanted to watch this was to see Taylor Swift, whom Reuben had never heard any of her music let alone know what she looked like. We remarked on Jennifer Hudson's incredible performance and director, #tomhooper’s career.Beers/Drinks were purchased from Mr. West in Footscray and were:1) Mojito/Mock Mojito2) Mash Brewing Copy Cat AIPA3) Dainton Beer New Age IPA4) Garage Project Cat's Pajamas Cream Ale5) Sobah Craft Beer Finger Lime Cerveza6) Dainton Beer Wonderland White Chocolate NEIPA7) Moon Dog Craft Brewery & Yulli's Brews Major Mac Spiced Fig and Coconut Milk StoutIf you'd be so kind it would be awesome if you could leave us a 5 star rating, subscribe on your perferred podcatcher, give us a like on facebook, a follow on instagram, shoot us an email at [email protected], and if you're feeling especially generous then why not support us financially via Mad Alice Productions' Patreon Page.

GBBMN Episode 19 - HK Hentai Kamen: The Forbidden Super Hero

We get real deep and emotional real fast on this one as it was recorded deep in the heart of our second (and longest) lockdown. We certainly touched on how doomed humanity is...We had a catch up lightning round where both of us commiserated about the difficulties of home schooling. Mike was watching a bunch of documentaries and struggled to deal with an overwhelming sense of gloom and doom. Reuben started the Lockdown recuperating from a minor surgery, then pitched a horror film, and helped Thy get the garden turned into a mini "urban farm." Our conversation continued on and got more light hearted as we progressed, and as it would turn out Mike's been successful at getting his Dad into craft beer!We both loved this movie, as it provided us with some much needed laugh therapy. As ridiculous and weird this movie is, it's actually quite well done. We picked this one because we are starting a double header of comic book movies and Reuben wanted to do this one based off a manga from the mid 90's.The beers came from the amazing folks at Beer 360 and were delivered on the same day they were ordered! They were as follows:1) Founders Brewing Co Mas Agave Imperial Gose2) Beer topped margarita using the Mas Agave3) Westside Ale Works The Bridge NEIPA4) 3 Ravens Brewery Creme Brulee Milkshake IPA5) Moon Dog BreweryTimothy Tamothy Slamothy Chocolate Bisquit Stout6) Beer blend of the Creme Brulee Milkshake IPA and the Timothy Tamothy Slamothy Chocolate Bisquit StoutIf you'd be so kind as to leave us a 5 star rating, subscribe on your perferred podcatcher, give us a like on facebook, a follow on instagram, shoot us an email at [email protected], and if you're feeling especially generous then why not support us financially via Mad Alice Productions' Patreon Page.

    GBBMN Episode 21 - Steel

This was our first livestream episode broadcast on our Twitch. It was also Mike's birthday and he was pretty hungover. He was at a party the night before celebrating his birthday, his partner Thuy's birthday, and another friends, so yeah, he got smashed and we had to have a puke bucket on hand just in case. As you can see we watched 1997's "Steel" starring Shaq. We talk about the much better podcast, "Beer, Bourbon & A Movie," our philosophy on cooking, beer blends (refrencing Urbanaut in particular), and our old love of 90's NBA. We had lots of fun people chime in via the Twitch-stream like Reuben's Mom who also love craft beer, Taco-Tim who makes a banging hot sauce with his wife (Children of the Corn Tacos), and Pete from the American Good Beer Bad Movie Night who loves all thinks Godzilla. We also had the amazing help from Cassten from Mad Alice Productions to broadcast the episode chiming in from time to time. The drinks we had were:1) Coedo Brewery Shiro Hefeweizen2) Mountain Culture Beer Pale Ale3) Hargreaves Hill Brewing Company Sazarac Rye IPA4) NY Style Sazarac (Made with Gospel Distillery's Solera Rye)5) Blend of Sazarac with the Rye IPA6) Founders Brewing Comapny Blushing Monk7) Founders Brewing Company Kentucky Bourbon Breakfast Stout8) Blend of Blushing Monk and the KBSFollow us on Instagram and Facebook. GBBMN Episode 20 - The Toxic Avenger

The long awaited episode 20 is out and what a fun adventure this episode is! We had two guests on that joined us remotely from New Jersey (home of The Toxic Avenger), BJ from "Average Joe Comic Show" and Ricky from Orange. BJ is Reuben's younger brother, and Ricky is one of his best friends, whose become friends with BJ over the years. Both our guests are HUGE superhero and comic book fans, so this seemed like the perfect episode to get them on board for. Unfortunately, Mike was super sick (not COVID, he got that later), so he wasn't his normal plucky and funny self, but the dude soldiered on and got it done! Besides getting into Troma Pictures we chatted about all sorts of things including magic mushrooms, ass wiping habits, and weed (as this was the very first edition of Good Weed Bad Movie Night). A fun thing we introduced in this episode was beer battles. We chose 4 specific types of beer from Melbourne while BJ matched those styles with beer made in New Jersey and drank them against each other to find out where the better beer lies. It's a totally opinionated thing that really means nothing, but we had a lot of fun doing it. Beers were purchased from Saint Bride and Craft Republic and were: - Sierra Nevada Pale Ale - Moon Dog Brewery & Run the Jewels No Save Point Hazy IPA - Czig Meister Brewing Deep Sea Series Calescent NEIPA - Sierra Nevada Hazy Little Thing Hazy IPA - La Sirene Brewing Funq IPA - Bolero Snort Brewery Orange Vanilla Bullsicle Milkshake IPA - Hope Brewery Imperial Lemon Lime Sour - Beach Haus Brewery Sunny Sour Kettle Sour Ale w/ Guava Plum & Tangerine - Dainton Brewery Twist & Stout Chocolate Pretzel Stout - Three 3's Brewing Raz Attacks Stout The weed that was had was: - Ice Cream Cake - Chocolate Banana - Reuben's Old Dusty Weed (2010 vintage)

ABOUT THIS SHOW

Usually we watch terrible movies and drink great beer. Sometimes the movies are better than bad, but the beer is always delicious. All the while we sit and talk about the beers, the movies, and any random stuff that just pops in there.
