70% done with replacing pit toilets at two Mpumalanga schools
It’s only been a week since we surprised two Mpumalanga school principals with the fantastic news that Good Morning Angels, LottoStar, and Breadline are teaming up to build brand-new toilets for their learners and staff. We are happy to report that the project to supply brand-new flush toilets is already nearing completion! Despite wet weather and the long weekend, work at Sijabulile Primary in Mbombela and Ian MacKenzie Secondary School in Bushbuckridge is progressing according to plan. All of the work is being done by Breadline Africa and funded by LottoStar – to the tune of R1.62 million. We caught up with Project Manager Brian Lewis to update us on the project. GMA webpage

Helping a family after losing a mom and son in a car crash
Late afternoon on Monday, 10 March, the Van Aswegen family was on their way home after the children’s school activities. A car in the oncoming lane lost control and crashed head-on into the Van Aswegen family's vehicle. Little Karlu died on impact, and their mother, Karin, succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday evening. Power Build recently hosted its annual Golf Day, where funds were raised to support the community. From these proceeds, Power Build will donate R100,000 to Jurie van Aswegen to help him and Junique start anew during this difficult time. GMA webpage

Assisting a family after their Standerton home burnt down
The Angels came together to assist Renske Erlank and her family after their family home in Standerton burnt down. Naked Insurance donated R50,000 to the Erlank family to help them recover after their devastating house fire—part of The Naked Difference. This programme ensures that in years when claims are lower than expected, Naked Insurance donates leftover premiums to good causes instead of taking them as profit. Snappy Chef assisted the Erlank family with a brand-new Snappy Chef 2-plate induction stove, a 2-burner gas stove, a whistling kettle, and a supreme cookware set! The Angels came together for 13-year-old Christopher Williams as he fights to hit cancer for a six. The Round Table assisted the Williams family with a donation of R25,000 towards Christopher's medical treatment. The Caring Daisies and their generous supporters assisted the Williams family with a donation of R50,000 towards Christopher’s medical needs and treatment. Helping a mom of two continue her study dreams
Sally Shentall, from Lichtenberg in North West, is a mother of two daughters, Leigh (4) and Elara (2). She is currently in her second year of distance learning at North-West University (NWU), pursuing a Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase Teaching. Unfortunately, on 17 December, her family was involved in a car accident. Her husband sustained a serious back injury and is still recovering. As a self-employed individual, he has been unable to work and, therefore, unable to earn a living. On top of this financial setback, the family has been burdened with mounting medical bills. That’s why Sally reached out to Good Morning Angels, applying for a Willard Bursary to cover her R32,000 tuition fees for 2025. GMA webpage

Assisting Alfred on his mission to save dogs in Thohoyandou
Good Morning Angels and Pick n Pay have teamed up to assist Alfred Rananga in his mission to help pets that are not properly cared for, along with something special to bring festive joy to his family’s home as well. To help Alfred continue his selfless work for the dogs of Thohoyandou, Pick n Pay will provide him with R10,000 in vouchers to stock up on supplies for the dogs, as well as a cash donation of R15,000 to bring festive joy to his family. Good Morning Angels and Pick n Pay assisted Juanita Taute-Peel and her 13-year-old son, Dylan, from Randburg with a donation towards groceries, nappies, and other expenses, as well as enough money to create new moments to cherish. The loss of a loved one is immense, but Juanita has to be strong for Dylan, and he for her. It's important to grieve, remember the good times, and create new moments to cherish. Good Morning Angels and Pick n Pay came to the aid of Aneesa Kaynie, who was shot while six months pregnant with her five-year-old miracle daughter, Imani. The strength and resilience of Aneesa and her daughters are truly inspiring. Pick n Pay wants to support this family so they can look forward to the festive season rather than worry about expenses. Pick n Pay will assist Aneesa with grocery vouchers for December and January to the value of R10,000. They can also do some clothing and stationery shopping for Skylar, who will be starting high school next year. Additionally, Pick n Pay will contribute another R40,000 to help relieve some of Aneesa’s financial burdens. Kayla, 15, receives support for life-saving transplant
Kayla Storm, 15, is an academic achiever, a great 400m, 800m, and hurdles athlete, and she loves arts and crafts. She has an eight-year-old brother, Kayden, and parents, Eugene and Catherine, who work full-time. In September this year, this happy family’s life took an unexpected turn: Kayla was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Leukaemia. Since then, Kayla has been in and out of hospital for tests and treatments. She's received the news that she will have to get a bone marrow transplant to enable full recovery. GMA webpage

After Alison Botha survived rape and mutilation and the hands of two Satanists (she was stabbed in the abdomen 37 times, disembowelled, and her throat slit 17 times) - she employed the same willpower she did when she crawled from the bushes to the roadside, to deny her attackers any emotional hold over her, by refusing to be a victim. Now, after building a life of hope and spreading a message of triumph over the worst kind of adversary, the 57-year-old Alison Botha is again fighting for her life. Chanré Strydom is in Grade 7 and listens to Breakfast with Martin Bester every morning on her way to school with her sister and dad. She loves Good Morning Angels, and she loves her former maths teacher, Juffrou Liebe. When she heard that Juffrou Liebe Keyser needed help with an operation and medical treatment, she asked her dad, Corné, to write to Good Morning Angels on her behalf. Liebe, 26, has an operation scheduled on Friday to remove a lump from her groin - this formed after a previous operation and has caused her much pain and discomfort. R100,000 assistance to a dad with Gillian Barre Syndrome
A 49-year-old Vanderbijlpark dad and husband, Emil Krügel, was a happy, healthy man - until 16 days ago, when he woke up unable to walk. His wife, Sonia, drove him to the local hospital, not knowing what to expect as he was fine when they went to bed the night before. Emil was diagnosed with Gillian Barre Syndrome (GBS), a condition probably caused by an infection - that leads to the immune system attacking the body itself.
