    Training: The unexpected time thief

This week we get into television quickly after a brief weekend recap that is filled with shopping, black-gyrl magic brunches, and some darty shenanigans. Will Trent is on our minds, along with thoughts on what could possibly be upcoming on Your Friends and Neighbors. We might be changing our mind about Dr. A-Hashimi on The Pit, but there is still definitely up with that chick. This week's discussions have us wondering why are folks - Will & Jada - still hanging as a married couple if y'all ain't married? And why people need to leave Rumi and Sir out of their mouths.

You know… just life. For TV, we’re all in on Will Trent and Paradise. And let’s be clear—we still want Gary gone. These cliffhangers have us counting down to next week because the suspense is real.In our hot topics, we get into the backlash around BTS and the questionable portrayal of one of this country’s most iconic HBCUs, raising real concerns about history, accuracy, and representation. And to close it out, we pose a tough question: would you take the fall for a crime you didn’t commit if it meant protecting your sibling? It’s funny, it’s thought-provoking, and it’s very much us. Panties, Perfumes, and Plot Twists

Welcome back, listeners! It’s all about finding what fits, feels good, and makes a statement. Then we dive headfirst into Paradise—and yes, we go all the way in. From Anne’s death to Terry’s bunker secret to no-good Gary… we’re breaking it down. If you’re not watching, we have questions. Popcorn, Politics & Plot Twists

We’re back after a week off and catching you up on everything we’ve been up to. The last two weeks included some much-needed mother-daughter time—watching TV, spending time with family, and soaking in the moments that matter.Of course, we couldn’t stay away from the screen for long. We’re talking F1 and asking the real question: is Brad Pitt getting finer with age? We also check in on Shrinking, celebrate the return of Paradise, and share our thoughts on what’s been keeping us entertained lately. Not everything was entertaining though—because Fandango’s wacked-out refund policy? Absolutely for the birds. And yes, we slide in a quick rant about more shenanigans from the current administration, because some things just need to be said.We close things out by weighing in on a headline-making incident involving a woman who called the police on a sanitation worker—only for the outcome to be… unexpected (at least on her part). Let’s just say, actions have consequences. It’s laughs, side-eyes, family vibes, and real talk—just how we like it. Tune in.

    Karma, Confessions & Complicated Love

This week, we’re settling back into old routines during our weekly recap—trying to find our rhythm again while life keeps life-ing. But “Doc” was heavy on our minds, and we had questions. How could Nora really feel any type of way about Amy, knowing her place in Amy and Mark’s history? Gyrl… karma is a witch. And speaking of reactions, there’s some real anticipation around Lonnita’s take on Will Trent this week—because you already know feelings were involved. Was Faith able to maintain her professionalism when faced with true love. Can you really keep it business when your heart is on the line?Outside of TV drama, we share our thoughts on Florida’s new “Charlie Kirk Bill” and unpack the demise of Stefon and Cardi’s short-lived relationship. From policy talk to plot twists, love stories to life lessons—it’s another layered, laugh-filled episode you don’t want to miss.Press play and join the conversation.website: GYRL…..WHAT?!?!?! Platonic or Problematic?

This week’s episode kicks off with our weekly recap—complete with work travel woes, great food, and even better company—before we dive into what’s been keeping us glued to the screen. We’re breaking down Will Trent and High Potential, where characters keep evolving and the storylines stay giving. Meanwhile, Faith’s new boo is already setting off alarms, and Morgan and Caridac continue to shift in ways that have us talking. From there, the conversation turns real as we unpack male and female relationships and ask the age-old question: can a truly platonic relationship exist? Things get just a little political too, as we weigh in on whether the man in the Oval Office has gone too far—and if accountability should follow. As always, it’s thoughtful, honest, a little messy, and full of laughs. Another great episode in the books—press play and join the conversation.

Hijacked by TV and Side-Eyed by Hygiene

Welcome back for another episode! After our week/weekend recap, we jump straight into TV—because the good stuff is finally back. We’re talking new obsessions like Fallout and Mind of a Killer, and yes… Hijack has us fully hijacked. We’re only three episodes in and already tangled up trying to untwist the plot. Add The Hunting Party to the list, and honestly—if you’re not watching these shows, what are you waiting for?Things take a turn when the topic of hygiene comes up (again 😬) as we react to a viral video featuring a nail tech and a very unhygienic client. And as if that wasn’t enough, the Babydoll’s upcoming Pilates challenge has us laughing… mostly out of fear and pure trepidation. As always, we hope you enjoy the episode and thank you for continuing to support us! 💖

Good Food, Bad Weather & Boo Talk

Gyrl… this week we actually got to hang out in person while Lonnita was working in Nashville, and it was exactly the kind of time we needed. Between great food, lots of laughs, and prepping for the bad weather headed toward both of our cities, we soaked up every moment together.Of course, we couldn’t skip our usual TV talk. From Doc to The Pitt (and a few others), we share what’s been keeping us entertained lately. And then we dive into a fun but real conversation: how much enthusiasm should a man show when he talks about his boo? Is playing it cool the move, or is it okay—maybe even necessary—to let it be known that you really like her?Settle in and catch up with us—it’s one of those easy, feel-good episodes with a little something to think about.Coldest cups affiliate link:https://www.coldest.com/LONNITA09396

    Crying, Chaos, and Catching Up

Welcome back to another episode! This week, we had a lot going on, and as always, we unpack the highlights together. With TV officially back, so are our discussions—and whew, did we have plenty to vent about.Naturally, The Kardashians made the list as we talked through the final episode. Our biggest takeaway? Kourtney might need to stop crying… just a little. We also got into High Potential, questioning where this brewing love triangle is headed—or could it turn into a square once the baby daddy reenters the picture? And please, let Arthur stick around… we’re not ready to give up looking at Mekhi Phifer (well, at least Lonnita isn’t).This week’s hot topics were truly hot. We dive into a spirited conversation about what’s considered appropriate attire for a pastor’s wife at a fundraising event—and yes, it definitely sparked some generational differences. You’ll have to tune in to hear where we landed. And finally… is this country on a flaming plane of horse poo headed straight for chaos? Our frustrations with the current administration surface a bit in this episode, and we don’t hold back.Grab your drink, settle in, and let’s get into it.

    Welcome Back, Gyrl!!

Hello and welcome to 2026 with Gyrl What?!?! 🎉We’re so glad to be back behind the mic and sharing a little bit of our lives with you again. In this episode, we give a short recap of what we’ve been up to so far this year, along with a few highlights from the end of last year.We also talk about our five (or so 😉) non-negotiables as we move forward—what we’re prioritizing, protecting, and committing to in this next season of life. There’s a bit of TV talk too (we’ve mostly been playing catch-up), but more than anything, this episode is about reconnecting. Thanks for being here. Welcome back, and we’re so glad you decided to join us.

Weekend Vibes & TV Chaos: All’s Fair, Brilliant Minds & Diddy

Buckle up, babes — this week’s episode is a rollercoaster with no seatbelts and questionable maintenance checks. We kick things off with our weekend (and full-week) recap. Kristian had some top-tier daddy–daughter bonding time — the kind that warms your heart and also makes you question your entire emotional availability. Meanwhile, Lonnita lived through a week that can only be described as: “Absolutely Not, But Somehow Yes.” She tried to relax… and we’re using “relax” very loosely. Then we dive straight into TV land, where the drama is piping hot and absolutely unserious:All’s Fair: Someone is literally sleeping with the dead. Not figuratively. Not emotionally. Actually. The. Dead.Brilliant Minds: The Resident is acting so shady, we’re convinced he photosynthesizes.Sean Combs’ Reckoning: We haven’t finished it yet, but is not making us like him more. Stay tuned for more thoughts as we continue watching. No official topics this week — the chaos was topic enough — but we want your hot takes! Drop a question, suggestion, or random shower thought in the comments or email us at [email protected] in for the laughs, stay for the emotional damage.

Who Killed The Cheap Movie Date?

This holiday week, we spent some much-needed time together — and the food did not disappoint. After-Thanksgiving shopping was supposed to be calm… but somehow we ended up on a full-blown “Treat Yourself Tour.” Christmas décor? Bought. Zara? Raided. Ulta, TJ Maxx, Trader Joe’s? - Conquered. Sprouts? — all in the noble pursuit of the legendary Lucy Glo apples. (Yes, we’re those people now.)We didn’t watch much TV, but we did squeeze in a couple of movies — where we discovered that the “cheap movie date” is dead. Long gone. Buried. Popcorn now requires a small loan and maybe a co-signer.Hot topics were slim, but spicy:• How much pillow talk is actually allowed during sexy time? (Asking for… well, everyone.)• And from a mother’s perspective: college drinking — was I surprised? Absolutely not. Did I expect it? Oh, 100%.We’re partnered with The Coldest Water! If you grab one using our link — it helps support the show. Thanks for keeping us hydrated and caffeinated!https://www.coldest.com/LONNITA09396

Kardashians, Coworkers & Chaos—Oh My! Paging Dr. Petty

Welcome, welcome—and thank you for pressing play instead of doom-scrolling! This week we’re breaking down everything that went down, including the medical dramas Doc and Brilliant Minds, which taught us one important lesson: jealous coworkers and salty subordinates are a workplace hazard no one warns you about. We also had to talk about you-know-which Kardashian who’s been a little too judgmental for our taste. Ma’am… relax. Who put you in charge of everybody’s life choices? And then there are this week’s hot topics: side pieces and dating your sibling’s ex. Listen—some things are just universal no-go zones. That’s not judgment, that’s common sense doing its job.Grab your snacks, hit play, and enjoy the chaos. And don’t forget to rate, comment, and subscribe—we love attention almost as much as we love drama.

“All’s Fair in Love, TV, and Inheritance”

This week’s episode of Gyrl What features a lively discussion about how we’d react if our sibling(s) tried to sue us over our inheritance. We first heard the topic on another podcast, but it was too good not to bring to our own listeners—so we had to share our thoughts. We also dive into what we watched on TV this week. The Kardashians definitely took up a good chunk of our screen time. We’re loving All’s Fair and still staying faithful to the Kardashian clan. 9-1-1 is finally back to focusing on the emergency calls instead of all the character drama, and Lonnita has found yet another sports docuseries to obsess over—this time it’s the basketball series Starting 5.And of course, we couldn’t forget our PSA: run, don’t walk, to Trader Joe’s to stock up on the Cornbread Crisps. Social media is hyping them up, and we refuse to be the ones missing out

  22. 27

All's Fair when choosing where we shop

This week, we’re all about light relaxation, beauty hauls, and good vibes with friends. We’re making the most of the Sephora sale—with round two of shopping for both of us—and diving into the age-old debate: Sephora vs. Ulta. Plus, we’re talking about why Target still has our hearts (and our wallets) while Walmart’s officially out of the rotation. On the TV front, there’s so much to watch right now! From Kim Kardashian’s new show All’s Fair and the return of The Kardashians, to our latest obsession with FBI (we’re rooting for Jubal to get that A-Dic spot!) and the drama unfolding on Doc, we’ve got plenty to discuss. And of course, we’re wrapping it all up with our weekly weekend recap and a few more laughs along the way. Tune in, relax, and enjoy the conversation!

  23. 26

The Potential is High for some drama

Whew, it’s been a week! We’ve got a full recap for you — one pet decided to go missing for three days (yes, three), the other flat-out refused to take a bath, and in between all that, there were car issues and some fabulous finds while doing what was supposed to be “necessary” shopping. We’re also talking about the latest episode of High Potential — is there a love triangle brewing this season? And what’s the deal with that mysterious backpack? What’s in it, and what are we missing here? Then we get a little deeper. We’re asking the question: Are doctors to Black women what police officers are to Black men? We break it down from the perspective of a future physician, a current healthcare worker, and as patients who’ve seen both the good and the not-so-good sides of the system. Are Black women expected to just always be strong? Why can’t we get the same grace as the “Karen's”, but not the same as the one who refused to follow simple police directions and ended up arrested? Did it stop her from throwing a "Karen" fit? Not even. And finally — let’s be real. If Bae wants to drop a little birthday cash, we are not turning it down. Who in their right mind would say no to that?!

  24. 25

    Is Education an Option Now?

Welcome to another episode! This week, we’re diving into a few hot discussions about education. We’re sharing our thoughts on Harry dropping out of high school on 9-1-1, and reacting to a future student’s reasons for not attending an HBCU — and why we totally disagree.Plus, a male influencer claimed that if women “play with f-boys,” whatever happens as a result is on them — comparing it to someone playing with a gun and being responsible for the consequences. Do we agree? Absolutely not. But what about you — do you agree?

  25. 24

    It's Homecoming Weekend !

Hey friends! This week’s episode is a short one—it's Homecoming Week for Babydoll and another hectic one for Mom. We've been out and about: on campus, in the streets, juggling work, and spending time with family. So honestly, not much TV got watched, we didn’t keep up with everybody’s drama, and we weren’t pondering life’s big questions... because we were too busy living it.Still, we hope you enjoy what we do get into—like, how exactly does one go about getting a raccoon as a pet? And also... when will MAGA folks learn to stay off HBCU campuses?Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe—we appreciate you!Enjoy the episode! 🎙️✨

    Invasion and Bad Girl Behavior

Hey y’all! In this week’s episode, we’re diving into some of the shows that are back with new seasons — Abbott Elementary and, of course, Invasion. Plus, a few of us are still trying to catch up on Tulsa King.We also have a real talk about "bad lady behavior" and how it impacts the rest of us when it comes to being approached out in the wild. And… Diane Keaton — you will be missed. Her quirky style reminds us so much of Granna Linda. We chat with her about how she's feeling about the loss of one of her favorite actresses and fashion icons. As always, we give a recap of our weekend and let y’all in on some of the latest goings-on in our lives.Tune in — it’s a good one!

  27. 22

    Bonus Episode: Sugarbook Club

This episode features the full (well, almost full) recording of the Sugarbook Club’s October meeting. If you listened to the episode released about a month ago that included a sneak peek, this time you're getting the whole experience. We’ll be discussing our October reads: It Happened on a Sunday by Tracy Wolfe and All Superheroes Need PR by Elizabeth Stephens. Plus, we’ll share some book recommendations, TV shows you should definitely check out, and much more.

  28. 21

Pack yo ish and get out

This week on the pod:We kicked things off with our weekend rap up, then got real about some of the challenges at work that are affecting patient care. We also shared a few of our go-to beauty and self-care must-do's—because wellness is still a priority, okay?Let’s talk frustrations: the Costco app had us ready to throw our phones, and Kristian is officially done with Apple Bottoms customer service and their shady return policy.Of course, it wouldn’t be a Gyrl What episode if we didn’t break down what we’ve been watching on TV (warning: there may be spoilers 👀).And then we had to get into a little celebrity gossip: Why is Offset coming for Stefon Diggs again now that Cardi’s pregnancy is public? And y’all… are there really gospel ho’s out here? We discuss. And finally—our PSA of the week: Please get your dogs vaccinated for rabies. Yes, we said it. Seriously.

  29. 20

Why commit if you don't want to commit

This week’s episode is serving wine, whines, and wild opinions. 🍷We spill the tea on wine tastings, rant about what got on our nerves in Platonic, and gasp over the surprises in Invasion. Then we dive headfirst into the dating pool (yikes) to talk about what kind of behavior is actually acceptable in relationships—and what’ll have us running for the hills.Of course, we start it off with our usual weekly recap and the eternal question: What’s for dinner?Just your favorite mother-daughter duo, chatting, cackling, and probably oversharing. Come laugh with us (or at us—we’re not picky)!

  30. 19

    We can talk about it.....

This week’s episode includes a little bit of everything—We kicked things off with a weekend full of activity, hosting out-of-town guests and diving into some home projects. On the screen, Invasion continues to keep us captivated, Foundation has us intrigued with its twists, and Platonic keeps the laughs coming. Our hearts are heavy following the latest school shooting. We've been reflecting deeply on the mental health crisis and the troubling reality that gun violence has become a coping mechanism for some in this generation. In pop culture, we couldn’t miss GloRilla’s sharp clapback at YG and Mariah the Scientist. And of course, there was a spicy little bonus from Sugarbook Club that added some extra flavor to the mix.

  31. 18

Invasion, Orphans, and How bout them Cowboys.

Although it was a week and weekend packed with time spent with family, friends, and projects, we still found time to recap some of it for you.TV this week brought plenty of variety: the new shows Orphan Black (it's new to us) and The Paper, the eye-opening America’s Game: The Cowboys documentary on Netflix, and the ever-intriguing Invasion—seriously, if you're not watching it, what are you doing? We also share our thoughts on the leaked Young Thug jailhouse phone calls and break down what happens when a pizza delivery goes completely off the rails.

  32. 17

To wax or not to wax? That is the question.

This week, an unexpected caller took our show in a slightly different direction—but in the best way possible. We had a fun and candid conversation with Granna about everything from men waxing, to the importance of fulfilling sexual partners, to finding that one person who truly gets you on every level. We also took a quick moment to weigh in on the Cardi B lawsuit—sharing our thoughts on a trial that probably should’ve never made it to court. Can someone say countersuit?Add in our recap of what turned out to be a very eventful week, and let’s just say we were more than grateful for the extra day of rest this holiday weekend.

  33. 16

    Invasion of different space

We recap a weekend with a fix for someone's insomnia, discovering new fave eats, and cooked up some weirdly good stuff, lowkey killing it in the kitchen, The Amanda Knox docudrama? Wild. Invasion, Platonic, and Wednesday are back and we are so here for it. Oh, and just a hypothetical question: could you fake a friend’s pet's death to keep it? Also… what is Nicki Minaj saying that’s got people side-eyeing her man? Let’s unpack it all.

Where There's Smoke, There's Usually Fire

We missed posting last week—sorry, y’all! But we’ve got a good excuse: last weekend was a work weekend as we helped move Kristian into her new place. Granna and Granddad came through to lend a hand (and a few laughs), and between the heavy lifting and family jokes, we were wiped out. Took us a whole week to recover! Now that we’re back, let’s talk about the mess going on in the world of May–December romances. Because… what is Karrueche doing with Deon? Gyrl, he is old enough to be her father. And don’t even get us started on Shannon Sharpe—how are you losing MILLIONS over an “almost-legal” OnlyFans star? That’s not love, that’s a midlife crisis with a price tag. 😩Let us know your thoughts—are these relationships real or just ridiculous?

This weekend was one for the books! The Babydoll was in town, to have a service done and do some shopping Kristian’s new place. Then it was all hands on deck for the fish fry, where friends, family, and frying pans came together for some unforgettable moments. And there was a recap of unexpected animal shenanigans too.But things get spicy when we ask: Was Nelly really wrong for refusing that late-night diaper duty? Or was his stance actually expected? And speaking of hot takes—what is LaLa’s baby doing linked to a 22-year-old influencer? We’ve got questions.Plus, we're bringing in our very first guest as we break down the latest drama on Love Island, plus what an Intimacy Coordinator revealed about how closeness is carefully managed on modern TV sets.As always, thanks for listening! This Island is messy but good

Kristian may have just found her soulmate… in Love Island. She's hooked, and we unpack the strangely compelling drama of the villa. That leads us to a chat about Keith Sweat’s infamous line that “women don’t cook and clean anymore”—we dig into why that narrative persists and whether it’s fair (spoiler: it’s complicated). Then, in a wild left turn, we wonder: did Stephen Graham accidentally stumble on a solution to modern life with his “bland diet”? Could beige food be the answer to everything from stress to relationship drama?Throw in plenty of laughs at our own expense (as usual), and you’ve got an episode that’s as nourishing as it is unserious. Bon appétit.
