FROM THE FOUNTAIN TO THE MOUNTAIN (Part 1): After a long and mysterious absence, Dillon and Trevor arrive at base camp, ready with torch and shovel to exhume the long-dormant "#1 Gorillaz Podcast In the World" (-Damon Albarn).  After being overstimulated by lasers at their local planetarium, they self-soothe by taking a long soak in the sea, couresy of an oft-overlooked solo effort from everyone's favorite Britpop Baby turned Grief Grandpa.

Before the show begins, Dillon and Trevor catch up with what’s been going on with Gorillaz, including the upcoming release of their next album The Now Now and a shocking addition to the lineup of the animated band. Then it’s lights, camera, action as the boys find themselves in the year 2033 with no cable television, no celebrities, and no water — only the 1995 film adaptation of Jamie Hewlett’s cult favorite comic strip Tank Girl. It may have “tanked” in theaters, but does the movie deserve its reputation as a massive flop? Lock up your sons, tune in, and find out!

After giving Trevor a few weeks to log off from the Annotated Fall, everyone’s favorite monkeyz reconvene to crack the conspiracies surrounding the imminent sixth Gorillaz album and review the band’s new song with Kali Uchis. Next, our hosts are joined by a special guest for a trip down memory lane and a roundtable discussion of Vince Staple’s 2016 sophomore LP, Big Fish Theory. Sounds like the show’s gonna need a bigger boat!

After attending a drunken coronation at the 2018 Brit Awards, Dillon and Trevor honor the late Captain Mark E. Smith by trying to review a record by his band the Fall – only to find themselves enlisted in a musical cult in service of the most chaotic evil fascist lunatic this side of Murdoc Niccals. Fortunately, the local devotees are a friendly lot, or at least a well-informed one. With a little help, the boys just might be able to learn what it’s like to live in the wonderful and frightening world of Mark E. Smith and the Fall.

Dillon and Trevor check in on the Gorillaz TV show before experiencing a devastating chocolate attack from De La Soul. Their debut album is trippy, it’s original, it’s fearless, but how many feet high and rising is it? (Hint: it’s a magic number)

After taking a moment to mourn the passing of a legendary and beloved member of the Gorillaz family, Dillon and Trevor loosen their belts and chow down on “Viva! La Woman”, a peculiar record by an eccentric duo known as Cibo Matto. These boys might know their chicken, but have they got the stomach for a surreal dinner with Miho Hatori?

To kick off a brand new season of the show, Dillon and Trevor say "better late than never" and exchange Christmas gifts! Then, in an exciting new segment, we take our first dip inside the Hallelujah Monkeyz Mailbag! After that it's back to 1991 to meet Britain's newest hitmakers Seymour, their precocious five-year-old frontman Damon Albarn, and their debut album "Leisure". After a month away, Dillon and Trevor return to finish off season five of Hallelujah Monkeyz with a review of Damon Albarn’s solo record, Everyday Robots. Sure, there may only be one gorilla’s name on the cover, but there are a whole lot more monkeying around behind the scenes!

Having completed their journey to the west, Dillon and Trevor muster up what courage they have left to sit down with The Bravest Man in the Universe. Face your fears and join us this week for a discussion on the life and times of Bobby Womack, including his final solo album, which was co-written and produced by none other than Gorillaz patriarch Damon Albarn himself!

Dillon and Trevor embark on a Journey to the West and discuss Monkey, a Mandarin opera from 2007 featuring music by Damon Albarn and art design by Jamie Hewlett. With only the stars to guide them, it’s an odyssey unlike anything the show has seen before!

As Hallelujah Monkeyz approaches the end of its December hiatus, Trevor pops in with a few quick updates and a special holiday gift: the first episode of “One-Hit Wonders of the World” — an upcoming podcast starring friend-of-the-program and honorary Hallelujah Monkey Maxton Stenstrom.

This episode may not seem too spooky at first listen, but if you play it backwards I’m pretty sure you can hear what sounds like an undead spirit rattling its chains and calling out for Phi Life Cypher to come be on the show. From rap battles to robots, it’s our most instupituous episode ever!

Something is gonna happen tonight! And by “tonight” I mean Thursday October 5th, which is when Dillon and Trevor had the great fortune of seeing Gorillaz live at the Forum in Los Angeles, California. Will all of their Gorillaz live dreams come true? Or will they end up busted and blue? Most importantly... who’s Arthur?

There’s plenty of news to get excited about this week, as Damon Albarn premiers a new Gorillaz song and grows ever closer to his dream of seeing his beloved musical children brought to life via holograms. After that, Dillon and Trevor hop into the studio with various incarnations of the Gorillaz live band to check out the Demon Detour — a series of live tracks recorded to promote Demon Days in 2005 — as well as the group’s live iTunes session from 2010. Not all the performances are great, but hey, even the duds make for some “lively” discussion!

This week, Dillon and Trevor take in a night at the opera, heading to Manchester circa 2005 to see Gorillaz perform Demon Days in its entirety. Well, they’re actually just reviewing another DVD, but hey, at least this way you don’t need to use those dumb little binocular things. What’re those called, anyways?
