The OTHER Dark Wizards of the Wizarding World - Harry Potter Explained
The Harry Potter series makes Britain often (and by often, I mean..Always) feel like the center of all wizarding conflict. Voldemort. Death Eaters. First Wizarding War. Second Wizarding War. All that good stuff. But to me the idea that almost all of the global wizarding problems can be narrowed down to a 200,000 square kilometre stretch of islands has always felt a little hard to believe. And while sure, 200,000 square kilometres SOUNDS like a lot- let’s not forget that earth’s surface area is over 510 MILLION. That means the only dark wizards we ever talk about are tyrannizing 0.043% of the planet’s total surface area. And yes, I know measuring it this way is a little absurd, especially since a huge portion of Earth’s 510 million square kilometres is ocean and dark wizards aren’t building underwater empires in the middle of the Atlantic. But the point still stands. The Harry Potter books can sometimes make it feel as though nearly every major magical crisis in history either began in Britain, ended in Britain, or somehow circled back to Britain eventually. It’s far too Britain centric. So what do we think? Does Voldemort and the rise of the Death Eaters feel like the BIGGEST deal in the world just because it’s SO close to home? Because it’s the only thing the series focuses on? Or is it far more likely that the rest of their world has their OWN conflicts to deal with that have (this might shock you) NOTHING to do with Voldemort. Today we’re going to be exploring all of that and more as we unpack INTERNATIONAL conflicts of the Wizarding World- taking a closer look at whether there are OTHER dark threats -or dark wizards- besides Voldemort. Dark History of the Wizarding World (MEGA COMPILATION)
Hey everyone, Welcome to another installment of Harry Potter Theory. Today I’ve got a special mega compilation for you guys that focuses on the darkest aspects of the wizarding world. Rather than looking at individual characters, the videos focus will be on the world itself- taking a closer look at things like forbidden magic, dark spells, institutions like Azkaban, origins of dementors and the systems that have shaped wizarding society behind the scenes. Because this is a compilation, you might notice some inconsistent audio levels, numbering, or even a bit of repeated information here and there — but the general theme of the video..DARK LORE.. is consistent throughout. With that said… let’s dive into the dark history of the wizarding world. There’s a lot more lore than you might have realized. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Why the First Wizarding War Was SO MUCH WORSE Than the Second - Harry Potter Explained
By the time Harry Potter sets foot in Hogwarts in the first book/film, the First Wizarding War is already a thing of the past. And at the same time, the Second Wizarding War is beginning to take shape, the primary focus of the books and films. But what I’ve always found interesting is that despite its scale and destruction, The First Wizarding War is typically treated as little more than distant history. The Second Wizarding War wasn’t great either, there were a lot of lives lost and for a while it looked as though Voldemort might genuinely take control of the Wizarding World for good. Why Are House Elves So POWERFUL? - Harry Potter Theory
Hey everyone, Welcome to another installment of Harry Potter Theory. Today, we’re going to once again be discussing House Elves—but this time..From a slightly different angle. I’ve already explored their history, and I’ve already taken a closer look at how they ended up in servitude. But one thing I’ve never dissected in much detail is… How powerful they are. Was Dumbledore REALLY More Powerful Than Grindelwald? - Harry Potter Theory
Dumbledore BEAT Grindelwald in their epic duel in 1945..So that means he HAS TO BE more powerful..Right? Well, not exactly. Today we’re going to be taking a closer at a debate as old as time: Who is more powerful? Albus Dumbledore or Gellert Grindelwald? The answer might surprise you. Learn more about your ad choices. Did Harry Potter Really Have No Other Relatives? (The DARK Truth)
In the recent HBO Harry Potter trailer we got to see something we’ve never seen before- our first glimpse at Harry’s grandparents on his mother’s side. They appear standing alongside Vernon & Petunia Dursley in their wedding photo, with (presumably) Vernon’s parents on one side, and Petunia’s parents (aka, LILY’s parents) on the other. And with this new bit of info, it got me thinking- what DID happen to the rest of Harry’s family? Cousins, uncles, aunts, nephews, second-cousins..What happened to them all? Were they casualties of war? And why did Harry HAVE to live with the Dursleys? Did he really not have one other blood relative? Not even..ONE? Let’s dive into it. Learn more about your ad choices. All 50 MAJOR Events You Missed After The Deathly Hallows (Part 2) - Harry Potter EXPLAINED
Hey everyone, welcome to another installment of Harry Potter Theory. Today we’re going to discuss 50 MORE events after the Harry Potter story came to an end..If you haven’t seen part 1 already, go and watch that after! Link in the pinned comment and description. Like I mentioned in my first video, each section covers multiple points which amounts to around 50 bits of info altogether. And as with the first video, these details come from canon sources like the epilogue, interviews, and extended Pottermore writings from J.K. Rowling. And if you’re more curious about what happened to specific individual characters after the war, then be sure to check out my other video: What Happened to These 100 Characters After the War. Hermione Granger's Life AFTER the Deathly Hallows: FULL Timeline (1998-2026)
After the Battle of Hogwarts, the wizarding world was finally able to celebrate the defeat of Lord Voldemort and the end of the Second Wizarding War- ushering in a new era of peace. For the first time in years, witches and wizards were no longer living under open tyranny, and the institutions that had been corrupted by Voldemort’s regime could finally begin to recover. Hogwarts needed to be rebuilt, the Ministry needed to be reformed, and countless lives needed to be pieced back together. But while Voldemort’s defeat effectively marked the end of the series, it also created a large gap in the story. After the books and films ended, we’re really only given scattered pieces of information about what happened next. A painfully short epilogue shows us one moment nineteen years later, but outside of that, we sort of had to piece together what happened on our own through interviews and extended publications. Which is why today I’m going to be doing just that- finally piecing that information together and taking a closer (and more importantly, comprehensive) look at what Hermione’s life looked like after the Deathly Hallows. I don’t want to spoil anything in the intro, so let’s just dive in. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

50 MAJOR Events You Missed After The Deathly Hallows (Explained in Detail)
Hey everyone, welcome to another installment of Harry Potter Theory. Today we’re going to be taking a look at everything that happened after the main Harry Potter story came to an end. After the Deathly Hallows, once Voldemort was defeated and the Battle of Hogwarts was over. Although this video is organized into larger sections, many of those sections actually contain multiple developments, so while we’ll be moving through this in a structured way, we’re really covering around 50 major post-war events in total. This is also just part 1 of a 2 part series as it was a bit much to cover it all at once. Most of these come directly from canon epilogues, interviews and extended Pottermore publications from Rowling. And if you’re more curious about what happened to specific individual characters after the war, then be sure to check out my other video: What Happened to These 100 Characters After the War. That one focuses much more on individual fates, whereas today we’re looking at the bigger picture of the wizarding world as a whole. Anway, let’s dive into it. Learn more about your ad choices. Will the Harry Potter Reboot Use the 'Proper" Voldemort? (Unused Original Design)
Hey everyone, welcome to another installment of Harry Potter theory. Now, if you've been anywhere near the internet lately you already know that a brand new Harry Potter series is coming to HBO. It's set to premiere Christmas 2026, with each of the seven books getting its own season. If you somehow missed all of this, quite frankly I’m amazed. The hype is still building and the teaser trailer alone has amassed a whopping 10 million views so far. But there's one thing I want to explore above everything else, and that’s whether or not we’ll get the proper Voldemort. The teaser showed us quite a bit of the series, and with a Dec release date it’s obviously fully underway, but one character we still know nothing about is Voldemort. The Most TERRIFYING Fate in Harry Potter (It’s Not Death)
The soul. You can split it, you can curse it, you can even anchor it to the living world through dark and forbidden magic. Does Casting Black Snape ACTUALLY Change the Story? (Let’s Break It Down)
It’s been a couple of weeks now since the official release of the first teaser trailer for HBO’s Harry Potter reboot and that means we’ve finally gotten a glimpse at what the show has to offer. No more speculation, it’s all there in plain sight (at least, a lot of it). If I’m honest I have to say that while the show will never (at least for me) match up to the original films, I was pleasantly surprised by a lot of what we saw. I have been cautiously optimistic throughout this entire process, and I think that the trailer (on the whole) made me feel a bit better about things. But one thing the internet cannot seem to reconcile is the new Snape casting. After the trailer dropped I did a number of videos breaking it down and pointing out small details, and the one comment I kept getting above ALL OTHERS was that I failed to mention black Snape- with a few even accusing me of strategically avoiding it. I didn’t bring it up because it’s obvious. I’ve also already made a number of dedicated videos on this topic and in all honesty it’s starting to feel a bit like kicking a dead horse. I’ve maintained throughout the entirety of the HBO reboot hype that I don’t necessarily agree with the casting, but it’s also not enough to put me off the show entirely. That’s just how I feel. He’s a good actor, but in all truthfulness I don’t think he fits the book description one iota. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

What Spells Do the “Good Guys” Use to Kill Death Eaters - Harry Potter Theory
Murder or KILLING splits the soul. This is reinforced time and time again. But despite this fact, we see it happen again and again throughout the Harry Potter series, and not just by the bad guys. It makes sense for Death Eaters to kill..It’s clear where their moral compass lies and I would presume that KILLING (and the subsequent impact on their soul) is the price they’re willing to pay to achieve their cause. But this topic also raises a much bigger question. Because if there are such serious consequences tied to taking a life… How do the good guys do it? Molly Weasley does it, Dumbledore does it, and even Neville Longbottom does it. Today we’ll be diving into all of that and more as we discuss the implications of MURDER in the Wizarding World- specifically, in the context of the ‘good’ guys. Learn more about your ad choices. Every Hidden Detail in HBO’s Harry Potter 'Finding Harry' (BREAKDOWN)
Before we get into it I just want to acknowledge that I was a bit late to the party on watching Finding Harry as I had Easter plans PRIOR to the documentary even being announced, but I finally got around to watching it earlier today and wanted to do a quick breakdown for you guys. For those unaware ‘Finding Harry’ is a behind-the-scenes doc released on April 5 that takes a closer look at the inner workings of the HBO Harry Potter series. There’s a LOT to unpack so I’m going to try and keep it fairly high level and just focus on the most important stuff. Also, who else thought that Dominic (playing Harry) would have a Scottish accent? I guess I should have known by the name, but it still caught me off guard. I’m assuming he will tone it down for the show, but interested to see what happens there. Learn more about your ad choices. HBO’s Harry Potter Behind-the-Scenes Trailer Reveals MORE Than You Think
Hey everyone, welcome to another installment of Harry Potter Theory. Today we got our first UNEXPECTED glimpse at the trailer for the behind-the-scenes documentary centred on HBO’s Harry Potter reboot. The documentary, titled: Finding Harry: The Craft Behind the Magic is set to debut on HBO April 5th. I already made a video announcing and discussing my THOUGHTS on the documentary in general, so if you haven’t seen that already go and check it out, HOWEVER- I didn’t really break it down…And there’s a LOT to unpack here. Also- quick note to my regular viewers- I know we’ve been covering a lot of HBO stuff lately- but rest assured I’ll be posting some regular lore videos shortly. 7 Hidden Details You MISSED in HBO’s Harry Potter Trailer
Hey everyone, welcome to another installment of Harry Potter Theory. It’s safe to say the Harry Potter world is more alive than ever after the recent trailer drop for HBO’s new Harry Potter series. And since then, I’ve been working away on breakdowns and all kinds of other stuff. It was originally advertised as a ‘teaser’ so it was quite a pleasant surprise when we ended up getting 2 minutes, but that also means there’s a LOT to unpack. If you haven’t seen my trailer breakdown video, previous easter egg video, or video on HOW the trailer breaks canon, then check out one or all of those videos after this one. Anyway, like I just mentioned- I covered 10 easter eggs from the trailer in a previous video, but unsurprisingly, there are a bunch that I missed, so today I’m going to be covering some more. Some of these I got from your comments in the last video, and others I noticed independently. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

7 Things HBO’s Harry Potter Trailer Got WRONG (BREAKDOWN)
Hey everyone, welcome to another installment of Harry Potter Theory. The first thing that I want to get out of the way here is that I DID actually enjoy the trailer. I don’t know what I expected, but it exceeded those expectations, so I just want to make it clear that these are OBJECTIVE criticisms. I’ve already done a breakdown video as well as a video full of some fun easter eggs, so make sure to check those out if you haven’t already. Alright, on to the things that were ‘wrong’. Before we go any further, I do feel the need to clarify what “wrong” actually means. Because not everything that’s different from the books is automatically wrong. There are a few different ways something can fall into this category. First, you have direct contradictions—things that are described a certain way in the books, and the show does completely different. Then we’ve got missing details—smaller things that are clearly established in the books, but just don’t show up (at least from what we can tell). And finally, we have additions—things that were never in the books at all, that the show has decided to introduce. Now, again—none of this necessarily ruins anything. Some of these changes might even end up being improvements. But if they’re going to advertise as book-accurate, we might as well hold them accountable by pointing out a couple of shortcomings. Again, on the whole I think they did a good job, but these are the things that stood out to me. Starting with… Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

10 MAJOR Easter EGGS from HBO’s Harry Potter Trailer
Hey everyone, welcome to another installment of Harry Potter Theory. So—I already did a full breakdown of the brand new HBO Harry Potter trailer. Paapa Essiedu FINALLY Speaks Out After Snape Casting Backlash - My Thoughts
It was announced just over a year ago now that Paapa Essiedu would be taking on the role of Snape in the upcoming HBO Harry Potter series. In fact, it’s gotten to the point where you really can’t have a discussion about any aspect of the series without people bringing it up. And up until now, Essiedu himself hadn’t actually addressed the backlash. But in a recent interview, he finally spoke out about what he’s been experiencing. Wizards Are JUST AS BAD as Voldemort (Here’s Why)
House elf slaves. Goblins BANNED from using wands. Werewolves shunned. Is it just me..Or are wizards, pretty awful? Voldemort is widely known for his strong hatred of MUGGLES, essentially believing that any human with non-magical, impure blood is effectively ‘beneath him’. But that prejudice extends beyond Muggles. Voldemort is so committed to this doctrine that he also rejects half-bloods—viewing them as lesser despite their magical ability. And it’s primarily due to this belief system that he set his sights on world domination, believing that the superior species- wizardkind- should rule over everyone else. And while he didn’t share this exact sentiment, Grindelwald believed something similar. While he didn’t outright HATE muggles, he did firmly believe that they were ‘inferior’ - necessitating his own belief that wizarding dominion would be for ‘the greater good’. And while this quote from his rally is somewhat giftwrapped in manipulation, it does mostly echo his philosophy: “You came because you crave something new. Something different. It is said that I hate le Non-magiques. The Muggle. The No-Maj. The Can't-Spells. I do not hate them; I do not. For I do not fight out of hatred. I believe that the Muggles are not lesser, but other. Not worthless, but of other value. Not disposable, but of different disposition. Magic blooms only in rare souls.” Anyway, my point is this: both of these men were hellbent on wizarding dominance because they genuinely believed that wizards were superior. It pushed them to do unspeakable things in the name of what they believed was “right”—and, more importantly, to convince others of the same. And while Voldemort was a little more crass in his presentation, and Grindelwald a little more refined and persuasive, the messaging was still the same. They were spreading hatred. In response, the wizarding world pushed back, condemned it, and assumed a distinctly holier-than-thou position. But what’s interesting about this is that Wizardkind, the same people who (with the exception of the Death Eaters and Grindelwald’s acolytes), fought against these prejudiced causes..Are a bunch of pompous hypocrites. And while the average witch or wizard LOVES to act morally superior to Voldemort—]when you actually look at their treatment of other beings, it becomes clear that in many ways- they are no better. All 15 Spells & Curses Voldemort CREATED - Harry Potter Explained
By the time the Harry Potter story takes place, there’s already a lot of magic floating around the wizarding world. And in many instances, because this magic already exists when we’re introduced to it… It doesn’t really stand out. But the truth is that much of this magic only exists because of Voldemort. And if we consider that he died at just 71 years old, that means some of the most inventive magic in history was actually created pretty recently. 15 Dark Curses the Ministry Never BANNED - Harry Potter Explained

Not the flashiest. But the kind of spell that makes you question why someone would even invent it in the first place. How Voldemort Could Have Beaten Harry (5 Fatal Mistakes)
Spoiler alert before we start: Harry ends up BEATING Voldemort. Also please Subscribe I’m begging you Anyway, with that out of the way: I don’t think many would argue that the Harry Potter novels give our dearest Harry ‘Plot Armour’. It feels like no matter what he does, or where he ends up, he always has the upper hand over Voldemort. I get it, Harry can’t just die- he’s the main character, but still- sometimes it feels like EVERYTHING is going against him but he STILL comes out on top. In particular, over Voldemort. When you actually go back through the books, there are several points where the Dark Lord is winning. He has control. He has the numbers. He has the advantage. And then - almost inexplicably- he gives it away. Which is exactly why today I want to examine the books with a little more scrutiny, and extract 5 very plausible ways that Voldemort could have actually WON. These aren’t far-fetched explanations or over-the-top theories, these are very real, and most importantly very CANON-CONSISTENT moments where a single decision would have changed the entire outcome of the war. Who Could Have Been the Most Powerful Wizard After Dumbledore, Voldemort & Grindelwald?
In the world of Harry Potter there are a few witches and wizards that are just..A cut above the rest. You know who I’m talking about.. Dumbledore Grindelwald Voldemort And while they are all undeniably UNIQUE in a multitude of ways, what truly sets them apart from the rest is their IMMENSE magical power The ultimate currency among witches and wizards. In a past video I discussed WHY I think that these powerful few ARE the way that they are..Whether it’s attributed to their natural ability, their intelligence, their drive, or in some cases - the trauma that shaped them. But regardless of how they achieved it, these witches and wizards reached the very peak of the magical spectrum. Which is why today I want to approach this from a slightly different angle- taking a closer look at the witches and wizards who never reached their full potential. To clarify, I’m talking about those who COULD HAVE been among the most powerful, but fell short for some reason. Full transparency: When I came up with this topic I had NO IDEA what the final list was going to look like. Of course a few names popped in to my head, but constructing a final 5 wasn’t an easy task as there are SO MANY deserving characters. I think at least one of them will be a surprise. THE REAL Reason Lily Chose James Over Snape - DARK Harry Potter Theory
This is going to be a bit of a world shatterer. Wouldn’t it be a cruel and tragic twist if the one witch whose love was powerful enough to defeat Voldemort… Was herself the victim of a love potion? And that the purest act of love in the entire wizarding world came from someone who never truly understood her love for her own husband? What if, beneath the surface of their famous love story, there lurked something much more…Sinister? What if James, desperate to win over the witch who repeatedly rejected him, resorted to the most drastic — and frankly, pathetic — of measures? What If Grindelwald Teamed Up with YOUNG Tom Riddle? - Harry Potter Theory
A while back I made a video called ‘Why Didn't Voldemort Try to RECRUIT Grindelwald?’, and basically- the focus of that video was why Voldemort never made any attempts to recruit an imprisoned Grindelwald at Nurmengard. On both occasions that Voldemort rose to power, Grindelwald was sitting in a locked tower, so it always felt a bit peculiar to me that he wouldn’t have tried to recruit the most powerful resource at his disposal..Especially at times when things weren’t looking particularly good for him. Ultimately, I concluded that the two men were simply too different to ever form a real alliance — at least at this stage in each of their lives. Voldemort never sought Grindelwald’s help because he didn’t believe he needed it. By the time he rose to power, he saw himself as the apex of magical evolution—immortal, unstoppable, and unrivaled. The very idea of reaching out to another powerful dark wizard, particularly one who had already been publicly defeated, would have felt beneath him. His obsession with control and dominance also wouldn’t have left any room for shared power or rival influence. And the truth here is that Grindelwald, despite having been beaten decades prior, still carried influence—and it’s entirely possible that his name, his ideology, and his ability to inspire loyalty could have easily disrupted the fragile obedience Voldemort maintained through fear. To recruit Grindelwald would be to risk dissent within his ranks and this was simply not the kind of risk that Voldemort would have been willing to take But I think that even IF Voldemort had reached out, Grindelwald would have refused. The man we see in Nurmengard is no longer the revolutionary of his youth. He is reflective, burdened by the weight of his past, and—at least in part—repentant. Grindelwald may have been a dark wizard, but he was also a thinker, and most importantly a man with a cause—however flawed. I fully stand behind the idea that an old Voldemort and an old Grindelwald just wouldn’t have worked out. But in today’s video, I want to explore a different timeline that I FEEL has entirely different dynamics, one in which Grindelwald, at the height of his power, recruited a young Tom Riddle. I think this arrangement is far more likely, far more plausible and far more dangerous. I’d also like to put forth a bold statement: the version of Voldemort that we got in the existing timeline Is NOT the most dangerous version. Let’s dive in to it. Learn more about your ad choices. THIS Is the NEW Hogwarts.. (HBO Series Set LEAK + MORE Updates)
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. In today’s video we’ll be briefly touching on a few bits of news related to the much-anticipated HBO Harry Potter TV Series. If you don’t know what this show is by now then I don’t really know what to say..Other than it’s impressive that you’ve managed to avoid it somehow. The show has been a talking point on this channel for years now — and what once felt like a far-fetched rumor has slowly become an undeniable reality. And in the most recent update from HBO’s chairman Casey Bloys, it looks like we’ve even got a fairly definitive release date. “We’ve been saying 2027, I would say, to narrow it down to some extent, early 2027. And now you’re going to ask, does that mean January, February, March, April, that we’re not ready to say. I’ll say early 2027.“ It’s always to tell hard how ‘firm’ these release dates given to us by TV execs truly are, but in the context of the Harry Potter show, this does feel very ‘real’ as they’ve only been able to narrow it down further as time goes on. It feels weird to say, but I guess that means the show is coming out in about a year. To get even more excited, let’s take a look at some of the other updates on the show. Everything J.K. Rowling Confirmed on Twitter AFTER Harry Potter Ended
Hey everyone, Welcome to another installment of Harry Potter Theory. Over the many years that I’ve done YouTube, I see variations of the same comment pop up on my videos all the time — “Where does all this extra information come from?” And to be honest, this is a fair thing to ask, because very often I go BEYOND the 7 books and pull information from things like extended publications, interviews and most pertinent to today’s video: TWEETS from JK Rowling herself. Some of these secondary sources are an absolute goldmine for digging deeper into Potter lore, and while they sometimes just reveal fairly innocuous things like character birthdays… There’s also lots of good stuff in there that will change not just how you see a character, but also how you interpret major moments in the story. And because a lot of these factoids came from quick, casual replies Rowling posted on Twitter…They would have been pretty easy to miss. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The DARKEST Parts of Dumbledore's Origins the Movies NEVER Explained
In my last video I discussed how the Harry Potter film franchise effectively butchered Voldemort’s character by omitting huge portions of his backstory. I then went on to argue that WITHOUT these character tidbits (well, tidbits if they were massive..what’s the MASSIVE version of a tidbit?) it’s nearly impossible to properly understand Voldemort’s motivations as a villain. Why is he obsessed with immortality? Who were his parents? Why does he feel like he’s got so much to prove? In the films, Voldemort is essentially reduced to “he’s evil… because he’s evil.” Scary dark wizard do bad thing. And while this was certainly less than ideal, we do still get the gist of his—albeit much flatter—character. But for a character like Dumbledore, who has far more moral ambiguity (especially in his earlier years) the omission of these foundational pieces of his story becomes even more problematic. And like Voldemort, Dumbledore’s origins are BARELY touched on in the films. From the films and the films alone we SORT OF get that he’s got some brother drama, some father drama, some mother drama and even some sister drama (if potentially killing her counts as that). But we never see how those events shaped him in to the wise old headmaster of present day. We never see the guilt. The fear of power. The self-imposed restraint that defines who Dumbledore becomes. And perhaps most importantly, his relationship with Grindelwald—the single most consequential relationship of his life—is almost entirely omitted. Today we’ll be diving into territory that the films DIDN’T cover and taking a closer look at the Albus Dumbledore film fans never got the chance to see. Learn more about your ad choices. Why Voldemort’s DARK Origins Were CUT From the Movies
Bold statement here, but if you never read the books- then I’m not sure you understand Voldemort’s character as well as you might think. Because interestingly, despite Voldemort being the primary antagonist in the books and films, as well as arguably the second most important character (next to Harry, of course)- a lot of his origin story actually never made it onto the big screen. Sure, we get some bits and pieces as the films progress, and we get a few flashbacks in the Half-Blood Prince, but honestly, if I hadn’t read the books- I really don’t think that I would have properly understood many of the key components that relate back to his family … In The Half-Blood Prince novel especially, Dumbledore spends a significant amount of time guiding Harry through Tom Riddle’s past using Pensieve memories. They are the blueprint for understanding Voldemort—how he thinks, what he values, and why he made the choices he did. But in the movie adaptation, most of these memories never appear. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

What ACTUALLY Happened to Dumbledore’s Soul After Death? (Stuck Between Life and Death)
A couple of months ago I made a video discussing the fate of Voldemort’s AFTER his final defeat in the Deathly Hallows. And although Voldemort’s death looks fairly different from book to film- DISINTEGRATING into a thousand pieces in the films and simply falling to the ground with mundane finality in the books- one thing remained the same: Voldemort’s soul was completely and utterly destroyed. And unquestionably this was due to his pursuit of Horcruxes. By repeatedly tearing his soul apart—splitting it again and again in the name of immortality—Voldemort ensured that when death finally came for him, there was simply nothing whole left to survive it. And his soul, repeatedly mutilated beyond recognition, was incapable of moving on- forcing him to remain a broken fragment trapped in a state of eternal limbo. But here’s the thing.. Although creating Horcruxes is a sure fire way to destroy the state of your soul, it’s important to remember that it’s not the ONLY way. And this brings into the question the fate of some of the other characters in the series.. In particular, a character with a fairly dubious past: Albus Dumbledore. Learn more about your ad choices. What If Snape STAYED With Voldemort? (The Prophecy FAILS)
What if Snape Never Switched Sides? This one’s going to be a doozy. Severus Snape is perhaps one of the most important characters in the Harry Potter series. He was the man who first delivered the prophecy to Voldemort. He was the man trusted with secrets powerful enough to decide the outcome of the war. He was the man who protected the son of the woman he loved, even when that boy hated him. And perhaps most importantly, he was the man who chose the mission over redemption, knowing history would never forgive him. In fact, Snape’s role in Harry Potter is so deep that it’s hard to imagine the story without him. Neatly every driving plot point and every major turning moment hinges on Snape’s involvement in some way, shape, or form. And all of this just makes the question of him NEVER switching sides even more fascinating. Because if Severus Snape never made that choice—if he never turned against Voldemort—then the story we know simply couldn’t exist. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

7 MORE Major Events BEFORE The Harry Potter Story Started
A while back I released ‘7 Major Events BEFORE The Harry Potter Story Started’ parts 1 and 2- segments of a series where I discuss events that took place PRIOR to the books and films. Harry Potter lore is WAY deeper than some people realize (maybe not tolkien level deep, but that’s asking a lot), so today we’re going to be winding the clocks back once again and exploring 7 more significant events in Harry Potter canon. The last video left us in the early parts of the 16th century, so today we’ll be picking things up in the latter half. Let’s dive into it. Learn more about your ad choices. This Changes EVERYTHING for the Harry Potter TV Show..
Running a Harry Potter channel, I get to see a LOT of opinions. And I mean A LOT. Which means that at any given moment, I’ve got a pretty good idea of where the fandom sits on a particular issue. For example: The Cursed Child is FAIRLY universally hated among Harry Potter purists, enjoyable to casuals, and probably the best thing they’ve ever seen to people unfamiliar with the story altogether. OF COURSE there’s nuance here, as I for example can appreciate the Cursed Child as a separate entity, but basically my point is this: I’ve got a fairly clear understanding of the landscape. And in a time when (let’s be honest) fan expectations for the Harry Potter TV Show are a little glim, it looks we’ve been delivered a great equalizer- something that will appease pretty much anyone that’s been keeping up with the show’s progress. Peter Pettigrew DID Belong in Gryffindor (Here’s Why) - Harry Potter Theory
Peter Pettigrew is remembered..Almost exclusively as a coward and a traitor. A man who betrayed his closest friends, sold out an innocent family, and aligned himself with Voldemort purely out of fear. And after Voldemort’s first downfall, he faked his own death, framed a childhood friend for his crimes, and spent over a decade hiding in the shadows—quite literally—rather than face the consequences of his choices. And yet… Peter Pettigrew was sorted into Gryffindor. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Why Didn’t Dumbledore KILL Tom Riddle to Save Thousands of Lives? - Harry Potter Theory
"Did you know, sir? Then?..." "Did I know that I had just met the most dangerous Dark wizard of all-time? No." These were the words exchanged by Harry Potter and Albus Dumbledore after taking a glance in to the Pensieve and observing Dumbledore’s first encounter with a young Tom Riddle. And it’s these words that clarify WHY Dumbledore saved Tom, invited him to Hogwarts, and gave him a magical education. Because you see, Dumbledore, despite a few signs here and there, could never have known that this young troubled boy would go on to cause so much death and destruction. I mean, how could he? But the exchange does make me wonder: what would have happened IF Dumbledore HAD known what young Tom Riddle’s TRUE capabilities were? What if he knew just how many lives he’d claim, and how much destruction he’d cause? Would things have been different? Would he have attended Hogwarts? Just how different would the magical world have been had Dumbledore obtained that singular (albeit, MASSIVE) piece of information. Today we’re going to be answering all of that and more as we discuss a scenario in which Dumbledore WAS aware of Voldemort’s true capabilities. Learn more about your ad choices. Why Hermione DIDN'T Belong in Gryffindor — But Ended Up There Anyway
“How come you’re not in Ravenclaw?” he demanded, staring at Hermione with something close to wonder. “With brains like yours?” Ravenclaw student Terry Boot asks Hermione this directly in Order of the Phoenix, during the DA’s first meeting in the Hog’s Head. And, unsurprisingly, Terry Boot is not the only person to have ever thought about this. In fact, since the Harry Potter books first came out, one of the most pervasive questions surrounding the series is WHY Hermione Granger, one of Hogwarts’ smartest students, WASN’T sorted into its most studious house. Today we’re going to be tackling a question that has long divided fans- Was Hermione Granger truly a Gryffindor— or was she actually meant for Ravenclaw? Learn more about your ad choices. Harry Potter’s Most Powerful Witch Was Almost Forgotten..
What if I told you that there was a witch from Harry Potter lore that, despite possessing levels of power similar to the founders of Hogwarts..No one really talks about. This witch, known more commonly for her title as a ‘sorceress’ was known for her extraordinary magical abilities—so much so that her name became legend, even beyond the wizarding world. Her mastery over spells and enchantments rivaled that of the most powerful sorcerers in history, yet for some reason, she remains overlooked in most discussions of magic. But who was this witch? And why has her legacy faded into obscurity? Today we’ll be discussing all of that and more. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
