Mixed by @hks97 The sinoatrial node (also known as the sinuatrial node, SA node or sinus node) is an oval shaped region of special cardiac muscle in the upper back wall of the right atrium made up of cells known as pacemaker cells. The sinus node is approximately 15 mm long, 3 mm wide, and 1 mm thick, located directly below and to the side of the superior vena cava. These cells can produce an electrical impulse known as a cardiac action potential that travels through the electrical conduction system of the heart, causing it to contract. In a healthy heart, the SA node continuously produces action potentials, setting the rhythm of the heart (sinus rhythm), and so is known as the heart's natural pacemaker. Wandering through foggy not-really-rain, S. was missing her smile. She had fond memories of this smile. It was a good smile. A comrade. One that made other people smile, too. It’s not that it is completely gone, just on vacation – or so she hoped. The not-really-rain turned into something defying definition even more. Something like Not-really-rain-but-strong-winds-with-really-rain. S. folded her collar, plugged the headphones in and went to the harbour. Some minutes later, the demons who were entrailing her for the last days started to lose grip of a part of her mind. A hint of lightness alleviated her steps, leading to an old, small bench: her bench, her shelter. She started to cry, watching the tears drop into the water. Felt an urgency to exist. That her happiness is worth fighting for. That her smile will return. It seems almost futile to still think about the future as hopeful. The political reality these days confronts us with a special blend of carrot and stick, which came to be known as Willkommenskultur. Somehow Germans managed to let the world think they are masters of hospitality while burning down the houses of those people they had welcomed the day before. Reason enough for sleepless nights in its own right, still they are crowded with anxieties, rotten luck and failing relationships. Happiness used to be a warm gun. Now it is but a distant memory. Despite and against all this we have to carry on. And on. And on. We have to embrace ourselves and our friendships. We have to shout «No more» against all the fuss and misery out there. Until one day we see a better world rising on the horizon of our imagination.
