A2. Leonidas + Kay Suzuki - Oumuamua
Hot on the heels of the much loved 6th Leonidas & Hobbes “Together” EP (May ‘25), Leonidas returns this Halloween, with his long awaited second solo EP, “Flying Saucers”, since debuting in 2012 with Sequential EP (via Kay Suzuki’s Round In Motion label). https://hobbesmusicon.bandcamp.com/album/flying-saucers-hm034ep-house-balearic-cosmic As the name suggests, Flying Saucers is an exploration into cosmic dancing, delving into some of Leonidas’ favourite extra-terrestrial, interstellar and sci-fi themes, without ever losing his focus on the dancefloor. The opening/title track is a 10 minute epic deep house journey, inspired by the below Jacques Vallée quote* made famous by Terence McKenna (at a 1987 UFO conference). This is perfectly complemented by Oumuamua, another cosmic collaboration with good friend and collaborator Kay Suzuki, which can perhaps best be described as ‘Drexciya stuck in a lift with Manuel Gottsching’ (RIP) - the latter having given the pair praise for their seminal track, Interstellar Vibrations, in 2012. Side B kicks off with the minimal/acid house/slow ‘footwerk’ track, Spectral Portal, a funky 303/606/Juno 60 workout, followed by Nommo, an afrobeat influenced Balearic house number, inspired by tales of alien ancestral spirits from the mythology of the Dogon people of Mali, West Africa. The EP rounds off with Submarine 606 (the title is a play on 60s Japanese manga series Submarine 707), an electronic future-jazz number that defies categorisation. * "In looking at the effect, not asking the question 'what is it?' but 'what does it do?', you very quickly see what the Flying Saucers are doing. What they are doing is eroding faith in science. They are an antidote to the scientific paradigm that has evolved over the past 400 years and which has led us to the brink of global catastrophe." Jacques Vallée

Stupefaction
Velvet Textures will be third release on the label from Osaka auteur Kiji Suedo, following 2022's acclaimed Riot album and 2023's Hosek EP. These releases attracted fans across the board: Ricardo Villalobos, Charles Webster, Antal, Leo Mas, ND Baumecker, John Heckle, Red Rack'em, Nick Craddock, Intergalactic Gary, For Mankind, Mixmag Asia, DJ Mag, Stuart Maconie's Freak Zone on BBC 6Music, Giovanni Civitenga on NTS, Lorna Clarkson in Sydney, Tobias Fischer at 15 Questions in Berlin, Beatport Best New Hype Electronica, Ban Ban Ton Ton, the list goes on.... Velvet Textures dwells in a space where fidelity unravels. Seams split. Pitch bends. Clarity slips into velvet. Voices fade. Hiss remains. Murky memories of house music, electro, techno, dub and ambient are all hewn together in Suedo's unique manner, leaning very much towards the leftfield, both on and off the dance floor. A2 track Focus is a brilliant collaboration with Edinburgh's George T (Accident Machine, George Demure etc), half-spoken, gently absorbed into the current - not foregrounded, but drifting like vapour through the mix. Together, they shape a sonic space that lingers in tension — half-thought, half-felt, never fully resolved.

Parnell March - Joe Jewellery's Sunday Club
"Joe Jewellery is a Belfast legend. The “white Mr T” was on every dancefloor. While he was not a regular in the Back Bar, you'd know about it when he was there on a Sunday early doors. His jewellery has now been well decommissioned! He loved a wee dance and a bouncy piano break. Still does." Parnell March
