The 98th Academy Awards are happening tomorrow, so I thought it’d be fun to jump in with some last minute predictions! In this new episode I read through the nominees of every category, saying my personal choice and prediction for each one. With the BAFTAs just around the corner, it’s incredibly exciting that our new episode is all about ‘Solstice’ - nominee for this year’s Best British Short Animation award! Solstice focusses on the day to day life of a lonely Inuit, searching for his lost love amidst the endless summer daylight, in a thoroughly engaging and moving short. In this episode we were fortunate enough to have a chat with the director himself, Luke Angus, about his creative process, his methodologies, and how this project came to be! Liked the episode? Rounding out our series of three episodes interviewing directors about their upcoming works, we hopped on a zoom call with Director and Composer Trevor Morris to chat about his new short film ‘Butterfly on a Wheel’!Set against the backdrop of Toronto, this short centres around a jazz pianist Jacen trying overcome his struggles with OCD, through his music and his personal life. Butterfly on a Wheel has been shown at festivals around the world such as TIFF, so keep an eye out for its release over this next year… Liked the episode? Love, Brooklyn is a true love-letter film to the New York borough, and the people within it. As London Film Festival 2024 wrapped up earlier this week, we were able to catch the closing night gala documentary Piece by Pice, covering the life and works of Pharrell Williams. We saw this on opening night in IMAX, though it’s taken a while to cut down our ramblings into something coherent, the episode is here at last.
