    Homeschooled against my will

I’m Courtney — a former homeschooler who now homeschools my own kids. My first experience with homeschooling wasn’t planned, polished, or peaceful. I was pulled out of school against my will as a teenager. What felt like a punishment at the time eventually became one of the most shaping experiences of my life.In this episode, I share the real story of how my homeschool journey began — from junior high cheerleader to reluctant homeschooler overnight — and then we zoom out to explore the bigger picture.Today, roughly 6 to 7 percent of students in the United States are homeschooled, and the overwhelming majority of those decisions are made by parents. Why are families choosing this path? What trends are driving the growth of homeschooling? And what responsibility comes with making educational decisions on behalf of your child? In this episode, we talk about:• Why homeschooling is typically a parent-led decision• The top reasons families turn to homeschooling• How homeschooling has grown over the past decade• The difference between reactive decisions and intentional design• What it really means to rebuild education at homeThis podcast is for thoughtful parents who care deeply about how their children learn. Whether you homeschool, are considering it, or simply want to be more intentional about your family’s education, this space is for you.Subscribe for honest conversations about learning, independence, values, and building something meaningful — one decision at a time.
