How to Go Invisible

This is your invitation to join a revolution, a radical revolution of American values. It is well known that revolutions do not begin with political movements or shots fired. They begin in the hearts and minds of human beings who find themselves sick and disgusted with things as they are and ready to try something altogether different. In the spirit of this heartfelt discontent and longing for a better way of life, we invite you to come along with us on a road trip like none other. This invite, the three Primer podcasts that follow, and the entire How to Go Invisible course of instruction are intended to clarify what we mean by “going invisible” and to serve as an introductory guide for new practitioners.

  1. 61

    Afterword

Going invisible will be widely recognized as a viable alternative way of life as more people say no to econoculture’s ravages and go on strike for better living conditions.

  2. 60

    Dive Five

If you have come all this way with invisibility, then you have like the honeybee tapped the nectar of everyday commonplace ordinary humanity and awakened your powers of empathy. This alone is worth the journey.

  3. 59

    lnvisibility as Attitude

Dr. Tranquillo reveals a shortcut to invisibility: willfully forging the necessary attitude to take you to a better place.

  4. 58

    Invisibility as Hip

Poor hip has been gobbled up by the marketplace and put to work selling products. Hip commerce is an oxymoron.

  5. 57

    Invisibility and the A.R.T.

Poor hip has been gobbled up by the marketplace and put to work selling products. Hip commerce is an oxymoron.

  6. 56

    Fun With Invisibility

Doc reveals a personal invisibility practice: headless night walks.

  7. 55

    Dive Four

Sinking deeper yet into the great wide sea of humanity, some among us discover a need to do more than just break free of econoculture’s noise and lies, liberating as that surely is. Some are called to descend deeper yet to depths of understanding where they may very well, in time and with practice, become invisible even to themselves.

  8. 54

    Breaking Free of Consumption

Who says desire among humans has no limits? Invisibles find reducing consumption no great sacrifice, rather a great relief.

  9. 53

    Breaking Free of Production

Why the work-to-consume and consume-to-work cycle must be broken by defying the “hard work” injunction.

  10. 52

    True Interests

How to know where your true best interests lie, whether with the fruits of unjust social and economic systems, or with our radical revolution of values.

  11. 51

    Portable Refuge

Invisibles opt for a cloistered way of life without the cloisters. They find in their portable refuge a welcome escape from nonstop commercial culture.

  12. 50

    Dive Three

Liberation from the stereotype of nameless faceless masses is itself reward enough for our invisibility practice. Immersion in our common humanity is the cure for alienation.

  13. 49

    Attending to Attention

Your neglected, often squandered attention is in fact your most precious possession. Never willingly surrender a moment of stolen attention.

  14. 48

    Invisibles In Action

Doc advises prospective invisibles to remain behind the scenes in their activism and merge their dissent with others’ whose struggles call to them.

  15. 47

    Attentional Peripheries

Witnessing terrible things day after day that we can do nothing about is part of the madness of econoculture. Invisibles disengage from catastrophe overexposure and attend closely to what’s near at hand.

  16. 46

    Absolute Nonparticipation

As American government continues its unravelling into sheer irrelevance, Invisibles prepare their fallout shelters of the mind.

  17. 45

    Political Shock

As money strips the legitimacy from econoculture democracy, one certain consequence is the spread of political non-participation. Some invisibles will even insist on exercising their right not to vote.

  18. 44

    Escaping in Place

Why run and hide when you can find your way out right here?

  19. 43

    Driving Invisible

City driving can be an excellent invisibility exercise. Not getting yourself hooked in heavy traffic is ideal practice for the big show.

  20. 42

    Media Invisibility

Be forewarned all you social media addicts out there: Invisibility is probably not for you. Hate to see you go, but…

    Doubts and Fears

Getting our alienated econoculture selves re-grounded in our basic common humanity can require some painful introspection, but there are commensurate rewards.

  24. 38

    Our Divine Spark

Being unique is a gift and a curse we all share. Being special is something else altogether. Invisibles insist on not being special.

  25. 37

    First Revelation

Something we’ve been taught to fear and dread turns out to be an econoculture “straw world” meant to keep us cowed. No nameless faceless Mass actually exists.

  26. 36

    All Lies!

Students of invisibility are advised to rely on vigilant deflection of econoculture’s white noise until their training has reached an advanced level of transparency. That could take a while. In the meantime be patient, stay alert.
