IGN Assemble! #100 - The One Looking Back on All-Star Superman

This is the big one! At last we've reached the All-Star Superman retrospective of IGN Assemble! which also, unfortunately, happens to be the last. As you might've heard, Joey is moving on to create comics full-time, so this is the last of this incarnation of the IGN Comics podcast. Stay tuned to AssembleAfterDark.wordpress.com for more about the brand new podcast the guys will be launching soon. You can read more about the situation here.  But that's the bad news. The good news is that Joey, Erik, and Ben Assemble for an in-depth discussion about Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely's All-Star Superman. As always, there are spoilers for everything discussed, so you've been warned.

IGN Assemble! #91 - Tom Strongin' It Up

Luckily, after the news dump of Comic-Con, the past week has been more or less free of any major news and so instead we're allotted some more time to talk about important stuff like Tom Strong, Mega Man/Sonic crossovers, and American Gladiators ("Assault" FTW!).  As for this week's comics, we talk: Batman Incorporated, Batman Annual, Detective Comics Annual, Tom Strong and the Planet of Peril, Collider, The Wake, Daredevil, Indestructible Hulk, FF, and Guardians of the Galaxy. As always, there are spoilers for everything discussed, so you've been warned. Head on over to the IGN Assemble! Facebook page and vote away.

This was a big week for comic book fans, seeing the release of major titles like Batman: Zero Year, Superman Unchained, and Wolverine and the X-Men, not to mention, you know, Man of freaking Steel. We talk all of that and more on this week's show! As for this week's comics, we talk: Superman Unchained, Batman, Nightwing, American Vampire: The Long Road to Hell, Guardians of the Galaxy, Savage Wolverine, Wolverine and the X-Men, True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, Six-Gun Gorilla, and Breath of Bones: A Tale of the Golem. 16. 133

IGN Assemble! #85 - Choose Your Own Assemble

This is it. This is the last IGN Assemble! before we're all able to see Man of Steel next weekend. We're heading into a whole new era... This week, we talk about DC's announcement of Villains Month, their new digital initiatives, and Batman: Black and White, along with some Ernest P. Worrell thrown in for good measure.  As for this week's comics, we talk: Daredevil: End of Days, Daredevil: Dark Nights, Age of Ultron, All-New X-Men, Superior Spider-Man, Winter Soldier, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, Action Comics, Detective Comics, and Swamp Thing. As always, there are spoilers for everything discussed, so you've been warned.

  17. 132

IGN Assemble! #84 - Journey to the Southern Wind Machine

We hope your pants are loosened, because this one's another Assemble After Dark. Joey and Ben let their hair down and dig in on their thoughts about the worst comic book movie adaptation, the character of the Punisher, and the post-apocalyptic future that their kids will no doubt thrive in. They also touch on IGN's partnership with Valiant Comics and Joey's trip to the set of Man of Steel. Though it was a light week, we talk about this week's comics: Justice League of America, Adventures of Superman, X-Men, Indestructible Hulk, Wolverine and the X-Men, and The Wake. As always, there are spoilers for everything discussed, so you've been warned.

  18. 131

IGN Assemble! #83 - Waffle Tacos

Though it was a slow news week for comic books, we dive into the mailbag to talk all sorts of stuff. Our favorite supervillains, the power of pre-ordering, our favorite Green Lantern moments, our most unpopular opinion, and more! For this week's books, we discuss: Green Lantern, Batman Incorporated, The Green Team, Justice League, Daredevil, Superior Spider-Man, Subatomic Party Girls, and Half Past Danger. As always, there are spoilers for everything discussed, so you've been warned.

  19. 130

IGN Assemble! #82 - A Game of Punchies

After our brief one week hiatus (Ben was enjoying himself on vacation, the jerk), we're back in action to talk about all the latest cancellations, answer a few mailbag questions, and mark out for how great the Regular Show comic book is.  For this week's books, we discuss: Regular Show, Age of Ultron, Wolverine and the X-Men, Ultimate Comics Spider-Man, FF, Wonder Woman, and Kinski.  As always, there are spoilers for everything discussed, so you've been warned.

IGN Assemble! #81 - Eye Patches and Beards Solve Everything

Joey's back from C2E2 and we're back to our regularly scheduled programming. We talk about the big announcements of the show, Joey going digital, the strange decision to keep Jupiter's Legacy from going day-and-date, and more. We also take some mailbag questions (including a follow up to the wonderful honeymoon question from last week) and we get to hear Ben's parenting skills in action.  For this week's books, we discuss: Adventures of Superman, Action Comics, Green Arrow, Swamp Thing, The Movement, Age of Ultron, Hawkeye, Indestructible Hulk, Superior Spider-Man, and Polarity. As always, there are spoilers for everything discussed, so you've been warned.

  21. 128

IGN Assemble! #80 - IGN Assemble and the Irreparable Rift

In celebration of IGN Assemble's 80th episode, we break down the barriers and get real with each other. So real, in fact, that we learn how much we don't respect each other. That's not entirely true, but we do have some wedges driven between us that will quite possibly never be fixed.  In all seriousness, due to C2E2 travel and such, we recorded this episode before the week's books were released -- so we did a very special all mailbag episode, digging into the far reaches of missed letters and new ones alike. We cover the books that made us cry, our dream Superman team, our favorite single issues, who would win in a fight between Godzilla and Superman, and much more! I (Joey) am out and about in Chicago covering C2E2, so say hi if you see my stupid face. As always, there are spoilers for everything discussed, so you've been warned.

  22. 127

IGN Assemble! #79 - Yogurt Bros

First thing's first: I apologize for missing last week. I rocked my face off too hard for a band I love and was left without a voice, leaving us unable to do a show last week. It's my fault. Blame me. But we're back and in better health, kind of.  This week, we talk about some of the latest news items: Saga's controversy, Eisner nominations, the official announcement of Trinity War, and more. We also, as you might be able to tell from the title of this episode, discuss our immense love of froyo.  As for this week's books, we cover: Daredevil, Daredevil: End of Days, Age of Ultron, Captain America, Wonder Woman, and Justice League. As always, there are spoilers for everything discussed, so you've been warned.

  23. 126

    IGN Assemble! #78 - Egomaniacal

First off, we want to thank everyone that came out for our Assemble meet-up at WonderCon; we had a blast! In this episode, we talk about the news to come out of the show -- including the drool-worthy Rocketeer/Spirit crossover -- as well as a whole crapload of this week's books. Oh, and I shamefully admit to how egomaniacal I am (sorry, world), hence the title of this episode. As for this week's comics, we talk Action Comics, Green Arrow, Detective Comics, Batwing, Animal Man, Swamp Thing, Phantom Stranger, Age of Ultron, Thanos Rising, Indestructible Hulk, All-New X-Men, Harbinger Wars, and Godzilla: The Half-Century War. Yeesh! As always, there are spoilers for everything discussed, so you've been warned.

  24. 125

IGN Assemble! #77 - Assemble After Dark

With our epic WonderCon meet-up on the horizon (ESPN Zone at Downtown Disney, 8PM), IGN Assemble! did a first-time-ever Assemble After Dark episode! Our deepest secrets, our most intimate secrets. And, like, a lot of comic book discussion. But seriously, this is a loaded show, talking about Batman '66, the new Avengers graphic novel, Quantum and Woody, and the new Nova creative team.  We also announce the winners of our contest from last week to win Justice League Domos, so listen carefully! As for this week's comics, we talk Batman Incorporated, Age of Ultron, Aquaman, Fantastic Four, East of West, and Guardians of the Galaxy. As always, there are spoilers for everything discussed, so you've been warned.

  25. 124

IGN Assemble! #76 - And Everything That Came After

After an epic retrospective episode on Astonishing X-Men, we're back in the present with a look at the last week in comics. We're talking creator exits from DC Comics, Neil Gaiman returning to Marvel, digital comics hooplah, and WonderCon plans.  We've also got some cool promotions happening -- listen to the episode for an exclusive IGN Assemble! coupon code for the awesome nerd-centric t-shirt guru site WeLoveFine, as well as your chance to win an awesome Justice League-themed Domo vinyl figure courtesy of Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Big Tent Entertainment by answering a trivia question. As for this week's comics, we talk: Saga, Action Comics, Justice League of America, Wonder Woman, Daredevil, Nova, Indestructible Hulk, Sledgehammer 44 and more. As always, there are spoilers for everything discussed, so you've been warned.

  26. 123

IGN Assemble! #75 - The One Looking Back on Astonishing X-Men

It's been a long, dusty road, but we've finally arrived at the latest retrospective episode of IGN Assemble! Similar to what we did with episode #52's look back on 52 (we're clever), we're looking back on the highly acclaimed and beloved run of Joss Whedon and John Cassaday's Astonishing X-Men.  Launched in 2004, Whedon and Cassaday's Astonishing X-Men is a fantastic gateway for the X-Men universe; we even ranked it as the greatest X-Men story of all-time.  Full disclosure: Our recording was tragically lost to the ether, so I used a back-up track. If there are any odd quirks with audio (there shouldn't be), I apologize.  The series is years old at this point, but full disclosure: there are spoilers for everything discussed, so you've been warned.

  27. 122

IGN Assemble! #74 - Everything is Different Now

"Nothing will ever be the same!" It's a phrase that's tossed around a lot in comics, but we promise you that it's absolutely true of this episode. While we talk about the big news -- the fate of Damian Wayne, Superman Unchained, Comixology Submit, Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos, free Guardians of the Galaxy comics and more -- we also have an announcement that will change IGN Assemble! forever, all jokes aside.  As for the books we touch on this week: Age of Ultron, Daredevil: End of Days, The Avengers, Superior Spider-Man, Batman Incorporated, Detective Comics, Swamp Thing, Animal Man, Green Arrow, Colder, and Sex. There are spoilers for everything discussed, so you've been warned.

  28. 121

IGN Assemble! #73 - We Love You, Winnie Cooper

Well, well, well. Erik, unfortunately, couldn't make it to record this episode. I heard he got attacked by Jawas or something (disgusting creatures). Thankfully, all-star comic book reviewer and man about town Benjamin Bailey was able to save the day and step in to heroically co-host this episode.  With his presence fueling the show, we successfully discuss everything from the new Green Lantern creative teams to the launch of Batman/Superman and a slew of this week's books, including: Saga, The Avengers, Captain America, Daredevil, Nova, Justice League of America, Justice League of America's Vibe, Green Lantern, Happy, and more. There are spoilers for everything discussed, so you've been warned.

  29. 120

    IGN Assemble! #72 - Housedads

What a week. Two huge books -- Batman #17 and Uncanny X-Men #1 -- made such an impact that it was almost pointless to talk about anything else. But we did. We talk Geoff Johns leaving Green Lantern, May solicitations, Valentine's Day, potential Batman Incorporated spoilers, Quailman, and more. Also, Fantastic Four and Star Wars. There are spoilers for everything discussed, so you've been warned.

  30. 119

IGN Assemble! #71 - Wanna See My Dog Book?

There was quite a bit to talk about this week, from the newly cancelled books at DC Comics, to their announcement of some new Superman awesomeness, to what type of dog Krypto is. Important stuff. As for this week's comics, we talk Green Arrow, Avengers, New Avengers, Fearless Defenders, Superior Spider-Man, Scarlet, Colder, Snapshot, and, of course, the conclusion of Rotworld in Swamp Thing and Animal Man. There are spoilers for everything discussed, so you've been warned.

  31. 118

IGN Assemble! #70 - WTF Certified, Maybe

This week was kind of a head scratcher, folks. DC Comics announced their "WTF Certified" initiative for April, so naturally, we spend a lot of this show puzzled over what exactly that means. But it's not all weird -- Lara Croft is making a welcome return to comic books and we answer some mailbag questions. For this week's releases, we talk Injustice: Gods Among Us, Batman Incorporated, Batman and Robin Annual, Aquaman, Before Watchmen: Dollar Bill, The Avengers, Hawkeye (Hawkguy), Punisher: War Zone, Superior Spider-Man and Mara.  There are spoilers for everything discussed, so you've been warned.

  32. 117

This week, we talk about Marvel's new Age of Ultron teasers, Justice League movie non-news, additions to Comixology, the best colorists in comics, video game comics, and a whole bunch more. We also explore why hot dogs are a food that only miserable people eat. And you get to hear the J.J. Abrams/Star Wars news break LIVE! Well, live while we recorded yesterday... Plus, another thrilling round of Marry, Boff, Kill. 35. 114

  36. 113

Happy holidays, everybody, from the (not so) humble Assemble crew. In this, our last episode of 2012, we dive head first into holiday shenanigans and talk about the future of Star Wars comics, our Best of 2012 winners, The Hobbit, and of course, this week's massive deluge of comic books. Incorproated into the discussiona are: Saga, Green Lantern. Wonder Woman, Django Unchained, Uncanny X-Force, Hawkeye, FF, Indestructible Hulk, Daredevil, The Avengers, and All-New X-Men. Plus the occasional mention of Limp Bizkit and Supergirl's creepy horse boyfriend. There are spoilers for everything discussed, so you've been warned.

  37. 112

IGN Assemble! #64 - Kryptonian Nirvana

Welcome back to another thrilling edition of IGN Assemble!, where we talk about comics and things relevant to comics and also hot dogs, apparently. This week, we discuss the awesome new Man of Steel trailer, some depressing comic book news about creators making their exit from fan-favorite books, the hardcore return of Captain Carrot, and a whole buncha mailbag questions. Also, the handsome and affable Kurtis Wiebe swings by to talk about Peter Panzerfaust, which you should all be reading.  As for this week's comics, we talk about the following: Batman, Batman and Robin, Batgirl, Deathstroke, Fantastic Four, Cable and X-Force, Avengers Arena, and The Crow: Skinning the Wolves. 40. 109

IGN Assemble! #61 - Those Sweet, Sweet Abs

This week holds a lot of good discussion: some relevant to comics and some not. Though we do take a moment to discuss new records and Stephen Amell's abs from Arrow, we cover some relatively deep mailbag questions, the bogus "fake" nerd debate that ruptured the Internet this week, romance comics, x-cessive X-books, and more.  Plus, we talk about the big releases of the week: All-New X-Men, Thor: God of Thunder, Fantastic Four, Batman, Batgirl, Suicide Squad, Avengers Assemble, and Saga.  There are spoilers for everything discussed, so you've been warned.

  41. 108

    IGN Assemble! #60 - Lessons in Shark-BAMFing

If we learned anything this week, it's the most badass way to kill a dude if you have the powers of teleportation. That aside, we also got a hefty dose of news -- including book cancellations/additions, digital progress, and some creative team shifts.  There's a boatload of books to talk about this week, including Uncanny X-Force, Deadpool, Iron Man, AvX: Consequences, Daredevil: End of Days, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Book 1, Superman: Earth One, Animal Man, Swamp Thing, Before Watchmen: Moloch, Action Comics, Sweet Tooth, Colder, and Shadowman. See? A BOATLOAD. There are spoilers for everything we talk about. You've been warned!

  42. 107

IGN Assemble! #59 - Star Wars and Other Stuff

Let's be honest, the only real news that matters this week -- whether you're here to listen to us talk about comics or not -- is the Star Wars news. Luckily for us, that news also has relevance to the comic book world. Still, we're going to excitedly discuss the Disney buyout of Lucasfilm, what it means for Dark Horse, and, of course, the potential for Star Wars: Episode VII.  In terms of comics, we answer some mailbag questions and discuss this week's releases, like Swamp Thing Annual, Justice League Dark Annual, Rocketeer: Cargo of Doom, AvX: Consequences, Captain Marvel, Action Comics Annual, Wolverine and the X-Men, Happy, Aquaman, and more.  There are spoilers within for everything we talk about, so beware. In the interest of self-promotion: Check out the IGN Assemble! Facebook Group! Check out the IGN Assemble! Wiki Page! If you've got a question, comment, or art, feel free to drop us a line at [email protected].

  43. 106

IGN Assemble! #58 - Marry, Boff, Kill Pt. 2

We're back for another week of talking comics! Not a whole lot of news this week (save for the Iron Man 3 trailer), so we fill in the gaps with another rousing (read: disturbing) game of Marry, Boff, Kill.  Also up for discussion: Superman, I, Vampire, Punisher: War Zone, AvX: Consequences, FF, Batman Incorporated, Wolverine MAX, and a whole bunch more.  There are spoilers within for everything we talk about, so beware.

    IGN Assemble! #57 - Post-NYCC Ramblings

After an epic episode #0 and a hell of an experience at New York Comic-Con, we're back to our regularly scheduled programming to talk about all things comic-related. This week, we touch on a few of last week's big titles (Batman and Uncanny Avengers) before diving headfirst into this week's releases: Hawkeye, Daredevil, Wonder Woman, Justice League, American Vampire: Lord of Nightmares, Captain Marvel, and more. Plus, we cover all of the NYCC news -- Scott Snyder and Jim Lee on Superman, American Vampire's hiatus, the return of Nova and the Guardians and the Galaxy, DC cancellations, and a whole lot more. There are spoilers within for everything we talk about, so beware.
