Welcome back for yet another episode of In The Crows Nest.This week I go a all most ranting rage over the hot topics of the week. The first thing I cover is the Fact that no one is seems to be to upset of the fact the government is spying on our own population. Instead the courts have decided to go after the source of the New York Times story to see where the leak came from so they can pug it before we notice there lies draining away in front of our eyes. Just take a look at the what the hill is saying. The second topic of this weeks show is President Bush's dropping approval rating even in the military. The Third point of the week I covered was the facts of outsourcing. They keep telling us the only way to go now is towards a global economy. Well the facts state otherwise. At our current rate of debt accumulation and the current rate of wage hikes around the world it will take another thirty years for the global economy to stabilize to the point that jobs will no longer be outsourced from America. This past week in Washington it seemed to be heating up. Despite the frigid Christmas cold front that moved across the eastern coast. With the president holding two public press conferences and countless closed door meetings. The admission of domestic spying of our own citizens. As well as the President admitting to authorize the wiretapping with out court notice. Then stating that he has the authority to do so.But just listen to the show and your hear in his own words the lies he tells. Around two years ago he stated that all the wiretaps would require a permision from a speacial court set up for just that purpose. This court was established by former President Jimmy Carter for cases just like the one's President Bush saw fit to bypass the court with.check out his whole speech here.The Washington Post stated. US District Judge James Robertson resigned late Monday from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISA) on which he served for 11 years and which he believes may have been tainted by Bush's 2002 authorization. The resignation is the latest fallout of Bush's weekend public admission that he authorized the National Security Agency (NSA) the country's super-secret electronic surveillance arm to eavesdrop on international telephone calls and electronic mail of US citizens. Bush's statement on the weekend that the secret programme did not require FISA court orders according to his reading of the Patriot Act passed after the September 11 attacks, has angered civil rights groups and lawmakers, some of whom have called for a congressional investigation. "It's important to the security of this country," said Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., as the GOP-controlled House prepared to debate and pass reauthorization language before the Dec. 31 expiration date. But reauthorization may be hitting snags in the Senate, where some GOP and Democratic senators are dissatisfied with a compromise worked out last week between key Republicans in the House and Senate. The legislation's opponents want the current law extended for only three more months so they can continue debating and working on changing some of the Patriot Act's provisions. "I think we should tread very, very cautiously and slowly," said Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid of Nevada. "At a time when so much of the world questions our commitment to our own values, I urge my colleagues to show the American people and the world that we will defend our country but we will do so in a way that protect those rights that make it worth defending," said Rep. Martin Meehan, D-Mass., who called on lawmakers to reject the House-Senate compromise. At least one senator, Democrat Russ Feingold of Wisconsin, is threatening to filibuster the bill.
