    Feedback with Dr. Teresa Cavett

“So how did we do?” is a frequent question we hear. From delivery services to tellers at the bank, people are requesting feedback. It’s not surprising, since this information can help to identify what’s going well and what needs improvement. The world of medical education is no different; whether you are a medical student, clerk, resident, teacher, or clinician, there is a desire to know what and how one can improve through feedback. Dr. Teresa Cavett explores ways to provide effective feedback in medical education settings.

  3. 30

Restorative Justice in Medical Education with Dr. Jayson Stoffman

The influence of restorative justice is growing in healthcare. As a collaborative, relational process, it strives to resolve matters such as harm, conflict, and systemic issues by focusing on healing, accountability, and repairing relationships rather than solely on punishment. To better understand how this concept could be incorporated into the remediation process in medical education, Dr. Jayson Stoffman undertook a systematic review of the med ed literature.

  4. 29

Capturing the Patient Voice in the Development of Trauma Informed Care Training

As medical educators, we strive to make the training we provide as authentic as possible. This isn’t always an easy thing to do. Approaching a sensitive topic such as trauma-informed care can add multiple layers of complexity. The Department of Family Medicine undertook such a journey when they began creating a faculty development workshop on this topic for their residency program. In this podcast, we spoke with Dr. Seint Kokokyi about the journey and how they endeavoured to capture the patient voice by working with a committee comprised of community members from diverse backgrounds.

  5. 28

    Interview with Dr. Aviva Goldberg

Lived Experience with Dr. Karen Wang

“Walk a mile in their shoes” is proverb you most likely have heard before. But how often do we hear of people putting it into practice? The Lived Experience study is one example of how this idea could be applied in a medical education setting. In this study, Dr. Karen Wang paired a cohort of psychiatry residents one on one with community members living with mental illness, having them meet on a regular basis in a non-clinical setting over an extended period of time. Dr. Wang discusses the study in this pubcast.
