On Wings of Song - Christmas 1961
Webster Booth presented this programme in December 1961. I have a reel-to-reel tape of his speech and have included the recordings he played in the programme. I could not locate the Santa Claus choir and orchestra recording of "O Tannenbaum" so have substituted a different recording in its place. If you like Webster Booth and Anne Ziegler, and would like to learn more about them and hear their recordings, why not join the Golden Age of Webster Booth-Anne Ziegler and Friends group on Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/groups/booth.ziegler/

Memories of Webster Booth and Anne Ziegler (final)
This podcast commemorates the 113th anniversary of the birth of Webster Booth, who was born on 21st January 1902 in Soho Road, Handsworth. Since making the last podcast in October, I have closed the Webster Booth-Anne Ziegler Yahoo Group due to general lack of interest. I now have the Webster Booth-Anne Ziegler Facebook Group which is proving to be more successful than any of my other attempts to keep the voices and careers of Anne and Webster alive. I have used a number of records which have been expertly remastered by Mike Taylor, a member of the Facebook Group. I am grateful to him for giving me permission to use these records on this podcast. In this episode you will hear the voices of Anne and Webster, Stuart Robertson, Effie Atherton, Olive Groves and Alice Moxon.I have used a number of records which have been expertly remastered by Mike Taylor, a member of the Facebook Group. Thanks to those who have listened to my podcasts. Because of ill health and the precarious state of South Africa's electricity grid, I will not be doing any more podcasts for the moment. Memories of Webster Booth and Anne Ziegler - Episode 1.
This podcast commemorates the eleventh anniversary of the death of Anne Ziegler, w11ho died on 13th October 2003 in North Wales at the age of 93. Eleven years ago Sally Rayner phoned me from Rhos-on-Sea to tell me that Anne had died. She had never recovered from a bad fall early in August of that year and had spent the final few months of her life in hospital. Most of the music in this podcast was written either in 1902 and 1910, the years of Webster Booth and Anne Ziegler's births, or the music was written by composers born in those years. If you listened to my previous podcasts you may have heard some of these recordings before. These podcasts have largely been created for members of The Golden Age of Webster Booth-Anne Ziegler and Friends, the 78rpm Community, but I am very glad that they have reached a wider audience who enjoy their singing and the performance of other artistes of their generation. In this episode you will hear the voices of Anne and Webster, John McCormack and Risé Stephens, and the playing of Eric Parkin and Tamsin Little. A Personal Memoir of Anne Ziegler and Webster Booth - FINAL PODCAST
This is the last episode in a series which concentrated on the lives and careers of famous British duettists, Anne Ziegler and Webster Booth, and of my association with them. It was based on my book, "Sweethearts of Song: A Personal Memoir of Anne Ziegler and Webster Booth" available with my other books at http://www.lulu.com/duettists I can hardly believe that it is thirty years since a friend phoned to tell me that she had heard of Webster’s death on “News About Britain” on BBC World Service. I had known that he was ill, but it still came as a shock to hear that my beloved friend had died in Penrhyn Bay, Llandudno at the age of 82. I think this is a fitting day on which to present my final podcast in this series. These podcasts have largely been created for members of The Goden Age of Webster Booth-Anne Ziegler and Friends on Facebook and the 78rpm Community but I am very glad that they have reached a wider audience who enjoy their singing and the performance of other artistes of their generation. In this episode you will hear the voices of Anne and Webster, and some of Webster’s favourites – Dundee pianist, Fred Hartley, Australian bass baritone Peter Dawson, Australian baritone, Harold Williams, soprano Isobel Baillie and his favourite tenor, Jussi Bjorling. WEBSTER BOOTH - ANNIVERSARY OF BIRTH
21 January 2014 is the 114th anniversary of the birth of Webster Booth in Handsworth, Staffordshire. I remember him as a singing teacher and friend, and will always remember our close association when I was his studio accompanist in my late teens and early twenties. Our friendship lasted until his death in 1984. Most people think of him as a romantic duettist with his third wife, Anne Ziegler and forget that he made many solo recordings and was one of the foremost oratorio tenors of his generation. In this tribute broadcast you will hear the voices of Webster Booth, Peter Dawson, Harold Williams, Isobel Baillie and Kathleen Ferrier. A PERSONAL MEMOIR OF ANNE ZIEGLER AND WEBSTER BOOTH - ANNIVERSARIES OF A BIRTH AND A DEATH
This is a special edition of my podcast series commemorating the 29th anniversary of the death of Webster Booth on 21 June, and the 103rd anniversary of the birth of Anne Ziegler on the 22nd June. In this podcast I talk briefly about the early days of my association with Anne and Webster and play some of their recordings and part of a recording of Father of Heav’n by Sarah Connolly, and Sylvia by Oley Speaks, sung by Peter Dawson. Most of the records in this podcast remind me of the days when I first got to know Anne and Webster in the early 1960s. I have created this podcast on my computer at home in Johannesburg.
