    Love The Things You Do

Lyric and Music by Jo Goodman - Copyright 1977 This is the very first song I wrote in the name of love; my first love, who didn't love me at all. The song was recorded professionally at EMI studios and subsequently taken to the US by the group, the Fifth Dimension. Nothing ever came of it, but I was awfully proud at 15 years of age. This particular acoustic recording was done on a very cheap portable cassette, which is why the quality is so bad.

    The Tower

Lyric and music by Jo Goodman - Copyright 1994 Musicians: Jo Goodman, Allan Capello (featured guitar) A tale of struggle against the vestiges of pain associated with a family member's suicide and attempts to grow from that ordeal, intermingled with real memories of growing up in in the shadow of the very, very tall TCN Channel Nine TV tower in Willoughby, Sydney (pictured). --- Lyric: THE TOWER Words and music copyright Jo Goodman 1994 In her mind she would watch the tower, falling, falling She would listen fearfully to the wind whistling through its middle space She would toss and turn and lie awake In what seemed the middle of the night, listening For the tower to fall Ahhhh, ah Ahhhh, ah In her life there were always towers looming, falling, Shadows in the night She would cling so fearful, a child waiting for the storm to show its might She would lie awake and see The clouds overhead rushing fast and endlessly Waiting For the towers to fall Ahhhh, ah Ahhhh, ah As a child she thought towers were made out of steel but she found as she grew that most towers aren't real and that paper mâché melts away in the rain and you must be a tower to withstand the pain In her mind she can see the tower, finally falling She's so afraid to look up to the sky she keeps her eyes focussed firmly on the ground She is learning to fly with each breath that she draws but she's constantly needing to be reassured and she can't seem to ride to the 35th floor 'cause she's keeping her finger poised to make sure that the door stays open In case a tower should fall Ahhhh, ah Ahhhh, ah

    Hear Me

Music & lyric: Jo Goodman © 1984 I really like this song and would like to produce it in the studio. Once again about a long-lost lover. Acoustic and vocal track through a simple cassette recorder, at home in Bondi, Sydney, 1983-4. I was really quite young and was about to meet up with the other "Tropical Penguins". Lyric: HEAR ME You and me sail into a sweet prophetic dream sky's so blue against your skin If life's a game, I've got to win you, win you, win you Looks like I'm in love again I feel alive when you are near I'll shout it out if you will hear me, hear me, hear me, oh I've been such a lonely girl listening to people's pearls of wisdom no-one listens They're too busy all clambering to be heard no-one hears a single word something's missing when no-one listens Did you hear me I've been calling for so long but no-one's home, no-one's home Did you hear the music spilling from my soul to your own, to your own ...Ohhhh, ye-eah Did you hear me I've been calling for so long but no-one's home Did you hear the music spilling from my soul to your own To your own Looks like I'm in love again Oh what am I gonna do I feel alive when I am with you, with you, with you Ohhhhh, when I'm with you

    Didn't Promise Anything

Music & lyric: Jo Goodman © 1995 Main Vocal: Jo Goodman; Bass and backup vocals: Ralph Marshall; Guitars and backup vocals: Michael Storey; Drums: Greg Grant; Saxophones and backup vocals: Mark Elliot. This is an over-produced Rondor Music studio recording, circa 1995. This snatch of cynicism escaped me when I was feeling down and is more an imagining of what the other person was feeling in their relationship to me. Lyric: DIDN'T PROMISE ANYTHING I'm not saying I don't feel love I'm just saying I could feel love Hey hey yeah yeah yeah I'm not saying I don't feel love I'm just saying I could feel love Hey hey yeah yeah yeah When I met you I was not prepared for the shock and even though I like you very much I may hold out Other people had staked their claims before this all began now someone else is calling me and you must understand I'm not saying I don't feel love I'm just saying I could feel love Hey hey yeah yeah yeah I'm not saying I don't feel love I'm just saying I could feel love Hey hey yeah yeah yeah Well I don't want to see you cry or see you hurt at all or choose the wrong one for myself and stumble for a fall Just give me my freedom baby, I'll give you a call but don't depend on it, I'm unreliable, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah I'm not saying I don't feel love I'm just saying I could feel love Hey hey yeah yeah yeah Just because we made love once don't make some big thing of it I didn't promise anything I didn't promise anything Now I'm not saying I don't feel love I'm just saying I could feel love Hey hey yeah yeah yeah I'm not saying I don't feel love I'm just saying I could feel love Hey hey yeah yeah yeah Well I'm not saying I don't feel love I'm just saying I could feel love I'm not saying I don't feel love Well I'm not saying I don't feel love I'm just saying I could feel love I'm not saying I don't feel love Well I'm not saying I don't feel love I'm not saying I don't feel love
