    Ep. 98 Mark T. Dunn

I wanted to start the year off with a really cool guest, recently a few people had asked me if I had read a certain book George Jones' drummer had written. Which I hadn't because obviously I am uncultured. So I got hip and tracked this fella down, snagged a copy of the book, and eventually onto the mic.Mark T. Dunn was kind enough to sit down with me and talk about the book, life, and a lil bit of shenanigans. A few song recs in there too. Here's the link to purchase "Kick It Off: On the Road with George Jones"and if you wanna catch Mark doing his thing on stage these days you can follow the band Mic Harrison and the High Score As always, thank yall for listening. Ep. 97 Katelyn Hillen

Big WHOOOPS, this was supposed to be the October episode, but life happens.Katelyn had a day, and we dive in. Some real trailer trash soap opera type shit. We also dive in, ever so sweetly, to how she likes her comedy. How she likes the audience to feel, and how it all meshes. She's a hoot, she's a treat, and she stays pretty busy so go catch a show with her on it since, now, you know what's good. If you wanna find and follow her online you can do so @katelynhillencomedy

  5. 97

Ep. 91 Brandi Augustus and Ivan Harper

Brandy and Ivan sat down with me to talk shop about town, about comedy, and a bit about life. This conversation covers the bases really well, its got some humor, some shit talk, and some genuine vulnerability. We even touch base on our breakfast cereal preferences. If you wanna catch these wonderfully articulate individuals about town doing their thing you can find em online at:Brandi Augustus website and her instagram You ca find Ivan on his instagram Both of these folks are terribly delightful and it was a treat to share time and space with them for this conversation. I hope yall enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed capturing it.

  11. 91

    Ep. 90 Curtis Glover

Curtis and I sat down to catch up. He's done some traveling and some really cool projects since he was last featured on the program. We dig into some projects, how travel changes your headspace, and a bit of what its like to be an artist in art spaces around art people. If you wanna catch Curtis Glover on the web you'll see him on instagram @curtisglovercreative

  12. 90

    Ep.89 NEGATORY GALLERY

Knoxville is rich in artists that don’t have an outlet to showcase their work outside of bars or coffee shops or other businesses that aren’t art-specific or associated with a university or other outside entity; there are other great galleries that have funding and we certainly don’t want to disparage them! Some of them are also doing great things. But we are looking to give voices and visibility to artists that might otherwise be unseen. We curate the shows based on how we can uplift Knoxville artists - visually and sonically - on an inclusive platform that we haven’t seen in existence for a long time. You can find the NEGATORY GALERY online at @negatory_gallery so keep an eye out for their show announcements. These folks are after my own heart trying to uplift and shine light on artists who are underrepresented in the area. The stuff that disturbs the comfortable and that's what I'm all about.

  13. 89

    Ep. 88 Luke Love

Luke Love is on a journey and we talk about it. Luke and I go over the origin story of our paths crossing just a little, we talk about his path through art and his relationship with being an artist. His really complicated relationship with brushes also comes to light. He's a delightful human and He's currently exploring his artistry in a way that I find is really whimsical and entertaining. Give it a listen, go check out his work on display this month at The Holistic Connection on Gay St, Knoxville. He will be there today (12/13) live painting and being his awesome self. You can catch him on the web @lukelove_artworks Also if you wanna snag a hoodie like mine and mentioned in the episode go here: RedZacharyCreative Thank you all so much for listening, that's the last episode of the year. Cya soon!

  14. 88

    Ep. 87 Mallory Cowan

Mallory and I sat down to have a chat about where she's at in life, the ethos and origin or her unique style, a bit of backstory on her education and adjacent interests in her life. This was a very enjoyable, warm, open and frankly blunt conversation about art and life, just how I like em. I hope you all enjoy it as well. Big thanks to my sponsor, their info is below. Psychshow 4 update

Hello all. just a lil update about Psychshow 4 hanging till the end of the month. Please go show some love to @dabeckrules and @kaichicaloca, they were impacted by Helene and sadly couldn't have their art or themselves present for the show. Huge bummer but they are both alive and well, kicking ass and taking names to get things back in order other there. Beyond that I share some other details so go give it a listen. I really appreciate yall :)

  16. 86

Ep.86 Annie LaVoie of Mouthy Oddities

In my opinion, Annie makes gloriously wonderful and absolutely ridiculous things. Which is kinda my favorite type of thing. So, as you all well know, I sent a message into the ether and was responded to warmly. Annie pretty much gives us the download on the hows and whys and WTFs of her life as a lens of how it has shaped her art and business practice. If you like cuss words, dead things, puns, and crude humor this lady makes things for you. If you wanna catch her on the web you can do so by climbing her link tree

  17. 85

    Ep. 85 Lyndsey Ullom

Lyndsey is smack dab in the middle of learning how to be a full time creative, She took the leap and left the day job and has been on her artist path for a lil while now. This conversation allowed us both to poke around with that life scenario a bit, we also hit the usual beats of inspirations, stylistic influences, and one cantankerous feline. Yet again another person warmly responded to a question from the ether! You can find her on instagram @lyndseyullomart or her etsy LyndseyUllomArt Big thanks to my sponsor, their info is below. Ep. 84 Brandon Woods

I spotted some of Brandon's work around town and as usual, I had to pick his brain about a few things. It was a treat to dig in and peek a bit into his inspirations and motivations for making the deliciously complicated things that he does. He's also really good at explaining these things, which I am endlessly appreciative. So dig in yall. If you wanna find him on the ole internets you can do so here and here Big thanks to my sponsor, their info is below. 19. 83

    Ep. 83 Laurel H. Smith

Laurel Smith is one of those all around creative types. She paints, she writes, she follows her curiosity. I love that, so you all know I had to pick her brain just a little. We take a conversational romp through where she's been, where she's at, and where she would like to be. You all cind find her work on her website at https://www.laurelhookersmith.com or her instagram laurel.h.smith Big thanks to my sponsor, their info is below. 20. 82

Ep. 82 Thomas Zachary and Jody Collins

This isn't a normal episode and truly none of them are that normal, but this one breaks the mold just a bit. I sat down with Jody so he could pick my brain about some work I've done recently that I am not a fan of. We chat about the hows and whys of the whole scenario and I wanted to present a lesser seen facet of my artistic self, feeling it important to be transparent and authentic in this adventure. This is also a conflict any and every creative person goes through in some form or fashion in their lives. So this is a bonus episode specifically for the other artsy folk out there who know this pain. If you didn't listen to the last shenanigans he and I dove into go hit up episode 56 and give it a listen. Jody is awesome and he makes excellent media so go listen to Ramblin Man Pod as well.

  21. 81

    Ep.81 Piper Paisley

Piper Paisley hit me up to grace the mic and we had a fun chat, picked their brain about their influences, reminisced about small town radio shenanigans, the trials and tribulations of being a new and learning independent artist in east Tennessee. We also snuck in a clip from her first single, so keep an ear out for that. Its Called "Your Memories Hangs On" Shes got the socials, so here we go: Facebook Website Youtube Big thanks to my sponsor, their info is below. 22. 80

Ep. 80 Steph, Troy, and Cake

First off, If you haven't listened to Steph Cabell's previous episode go do that (ep 54). Its a more artist focused conversation about where she is in her artistry and songwriting. This episode, is definitely not that at all, we touch base on it but this episode focuses more on the creative chemistry between her and her graphic mastermind Troy Dunn. Troy makes Steph's promo graphics, he even made the graphic I'm using on this episode. Dude is seriously talented and it was a treat to have him on. Its also his fault that we have cake and obliterated the episode budget on sweets. No complaints. Troy Dunn owns True Blue Electric Tattoo, facebook , you can find him on instagram Steph would really like for you to find her on her Steph Cabell Music social outlets of facebook and instagram and if you're into the tiktok shenanigans you can find her wackiness there too. 23. 79

    Ep. 79 the Zim/Alexander Zimmerman

Through the wonders of social media I discovered Zim (Alexander Zimmerman) doing his thing. His raw style of presenting ideas that create a positive friction in society is something I had to pick his brain about. This episode is kinda heavy, gets political at times, and has important information about the art and the artist. We had a blast in this conversation and I hope you take this as a catalyst to dig into his body of work and be more socially aware of how the world is operating around you, at least a little bit. You can find him on the web in all sorts of places but primarily he streams on his youtube, his website is thezim.com, and you can follow him on instagram @_thezim

  24. 78

    Ep. 78 Daniel Clay

Daniel Clay as an elegant simplicity to his work hat I had to dig into. We spent time talking about where he's been, what other creative outlets he's had and how he ended up with the style and ethos he has now. It was a treat to pick his brain and I hope you think so as well. you can find him on the web in a few places such as: @danielclay, his website or youtube Big thanks to my sponsor, their info is below. 25. 77

Ep. 77 Joshua Shorey / Bapo Design

Joshua Shorey has been on the list for a long time, I really enjoy the elegance his work seems to naturally have and he was kind enough to let me pick his brain a bit. He tells me some of his life experiences and analyze a bit how these things informed his artistic visions. He also clues me in on his journey through the mediums he has used over his life. You can find him on his website Bapodesign.com and on his Instagram @bapodesign Listeners get 10% off on Relaxed Tax by Sagan Financial Group, a local Chattanooga company serving all 50 states. 26. 76

    Ep. 76 Shannon Ferguson

You know some days just throw you a curveball? That happened this day, but after a successful scramble Shannon and I were able to sit and chat about all the things. Travel, festivals, music, stop motion animation, quilts, texture sensitivities, and a bit about a dog too. Shannon is a UTK Print MFA Candidiate '26 and also led me through some of the visual vocabulary and decision making ethos of her current bodies of work. I certainly enjoyed getting the inside scoop on her work and I hope you do too. You can find her on instagram tiktok and online at https://www.shannonfergusonart.net Listeners get 10% off on Relaxed Tax by Sagan Financial Group, a local Chattanooga company serving all 50 states. 27. 75

    Ep. 75 Keith Bryant

Another message into the ether met with an enthusiastic yes. Keith has a varied array of mechanical interests on top of a creatively saturated family and childhood. He loves bikes, motorcycles, and apparently upcycling as well. He lets me pick his brain about the how's and whys of his work, music, a bit of travel and a lot of how these things all come together to help him pursue his craft. We sat in his garage, listened to the rain and had a fun conversation, I hope you all enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed recording!  Listeners get 10% off on Relaxed Tax by Sagan Financial Group, a local Chattanooga company serving all 50 states. 28. 74

Ep. 74 Callie Goetz the Nuclear Potter

On this episode of the KAANP we have Callie Goetz @the_nuclear_potter and she is legit double trouble. A nuclear scientist AND one hell of a potter. We sat down in her studio at Might Mud and talked a lot about porcelain and a little about how her science and her art influence each other. How inseparable they are, and how pottery is like jazz. So if you need to know how this all works just like I did, then definitely throw this one in your ear holes and hang on! Also the BIG news attached to this episode is that the KAANP is now part of the Podnooga network! This is a Chattanooga based podcast network and I am happy to be on board with them. I give ya the run down in the first two minutes to get you up to speed and then its business as usual. I also encourage y'all to go take a look at the other podcasts on the Podnooga network and show them some love, tell em I sent you. 29. 73

    Ep. 73 Vincent Drake

To me Vincent Drake had always been an aloof figure in the realm of Knoxville creatives. His work has a look that I really enjoy but hard to label. It's deconstructed, composed, chaos, and order all at the same time and I really dig it. When I made it into his studio to record our conversation he made it clear that he very much disliked small talk and was very excited to have a long form conversation about his work, the environments that spawn his creations, and we even get into the nature of free will a bit. We went all over the map with this one and it was a treat to pick his brain but he also picked mine a bit too. So be ready, this conversation could be considered a bit revealing for more than just the guest, we both take a dive into our creative ethos just to do so. You can find his website here and his instagram here --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kaanp/message

  30. 72

    Ep. 72 Skout Smith

This episode features a wonderfully talented Skout Smith. She paints, she draws, but mostly she tattoos. We cover the bases, influences, work flows, and how chasing the muse is a bitch sometimes. Also her adventures into vintage camper ownership and its hurdles. She's gonna be tattooing at Golden Heart in Seymour for the next little while, I would definitely check her out sooner than later if you're in the market for some new ink. We had a fun chat and I hope you enjoy listening. You can find Skout on instagram here, and the tattoo shop Golden Heart here. As always yall are downright the best listeners and I appreciate when ya hit the play button every single time. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kaanp/message

  31. 71

Ep. 71 A Rucked up Red Pretzel Crisp Soiree

This show is the only "tradition" of the KAANP. I gather Ruck, Dan, Preston, myself, and occasionally Magnus around a small table filled with cables, mic stands, tiny trash cans and warm hearts. We chat art, our creative desires, mess with effects and make horrible jokes. We try to hold ourselves at least a little bit accountable for what we have and will create. This is your front row seat into what its like seeing 4 noodly artsy brains be noodly artsy brains together and it pleases me greatly to be able to present this silliness to you at the top of the year. You all are the best, and I hope you enjoy the ride because this episode is a doozy. (this episode EARNED the explicit E btw so...ya know be aware) Thank you for listening. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kaanp/message

  32. 70

    Ep. 70 Randy L Purcell

I found Randy L Purcell on the ole Instagram and had to bend his ear. I had never seen and was totally ignorant of his particular form of expression. Luckily, I asked nicely, and he obliged to let me pick his brain. I found bees, their wax, lots of tiny pieces of paper, and a very vivid imagination. I hope you all enjoy hearing me be educated about his process and a little bit of joyful banter. You can find Randy at his website here or his instagram. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kaanp/message

  33. 69

    Ep. 69 the Orgycast

Episode 69 was another shot in the dark, question into the ether, random questions via the internet. I gathered a group of glorious individuals in the super secret studio, Brandi Augustus, Chance Losher, Derek Rucker, John Starkey, and Adam Rowe. In effort and spirit to gather more creative folks and make the world smaller I hosted another group episode. We all touch base on the struggles of being creatives, what its like being a creative person in Knoxville, and a bit of how and why we advocate for our chosen forms of expression. You can find Brandi all over the internet. Click here for her website and here for her instagram. the rest of the wonderful guests all have their own episodes to go stick in your ears, so please enjoy the backlog. as always many thanks to yall for listening. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kaanp/message

  34. 68

    Ep. 68 Mallory Hardy

Mallory was kind enough to let me pick her brain a bit about her chosen profession and her passion. We went over some favorites, things we despised, childhood trauma and death row meals. A good general romp through he foodie life with some laughs sprinkled in. If you'd like to get in touch with Mallory and see how awesome she is at making yummy things you can find her on instagram --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kaanp/message

  35. 67

    Ep. 67 Kelly Ferguson

Kelly Ferguson is a fresh face on the scene and was kind enough to let me give her the KAANP treatment. So naturally I picked her brain on the hows, why's, and wtf's about her creative practice. If you wanna scope out the fruits of her creativity you can find her on Instagram by the name of @patsknicknacks and yes that gets an explanation. I hope you all enjoy the listen, there's some cicadas in the backyard, no way I was editing that out because I enjoy it too much. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kaanp/message

  36. 66

    Ep. 66 Tiny Stage Comedy

Tiny Stage Comedy came to the mic represented by Rowan and Rikki. Rowan started Tiny Stage and Rikki is her prime co conspirator in the effort. They are both comedians and creators looking to make spaces for people like themselves. Give a listen to the episode and let em tell ya how and why they do it. links: Tiny Stage Comedy Rowan Rikki --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kaanp/message

  37. 65

    Ep. 65 AI reflections

I sat down with my friends Sean (peep episode 38) and Stoney to sorta touch base on our own opinions of what and how AI tools have made it into our lives and society in general. We recorded this on a back porch, so yall are gonna get all the nature noises on top of the banter. We had a lively chat on the mater and I hope yall enjoy listening. If you've got opinions answer the question featured with the episode! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kaanp/message

  38. 64

Ep. 64 the Spawn and I build a robot

My son Elliot wanted to make an episode with me while we build his robot. So as any good father would, I obliged. We assembled a birthday present that happens to be a programmable walking robot. We had a blast, this is definitely not a normal episode but I am not less happy to present it. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kaanp/message

  39. 63

Ep. 63 Chance Losher AKA Professor Rainbow

Chance Losher AKA the Professor Rainbow himself graces the mic once again. We play a little catch up since his last appearance on the program, talk about making old things new again, and how fun that is. Noteable mentions go to AI shenanigans, local print houses, and pyramids. Stick it in your ears and lets see what happens. You can find him on instagram and his website As always thanks for listening! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kaanp/message

  40. 62

Ep. 62 Gianna of Three of Wands Wellness

I set up at a market this spring next to Gianna and was instantly impressed with how she goes about her business. I, knowing basically zero about tea did what I had to do, so she was asked if she wanted to be on the program and here we are. She gives us the lowdown on her operation, a lot about tea, and a bit on everything else Three of Wands offers. Hit the website and instagram for more of this delightful person and the company she helms! and as always, thanks for listening! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kaanp/message

    Ep. 61 Benny Smith

Benny Smith is one of those guys that's really out there to make where he lives a better place to be with all the tools he's got. He's doing a kickass job too. He's the station manager of WUTK, and all around awesome dude as I came to discover. Sometimes fun conversations just sorta fall in a person's lap, and this is definitely one of those conversations... Wills and Brandi got on mic with me to talk about The Black Power Rangers Comedy Tour. Specifically the Knoxville date with Brandi. You'll hear all about it in the episode, the hows, the whys, and all that jazz. This is the first time I've had professional funny people and radical story tellers on the show. Ep. 58 Bill Foster

To be blunt, and whether he may know it or not, Bill has been a must get guest for the show. I think that he has my favorite perspective on the culture and night life of the city and I had to pick his brain about some stuff. He kindly obliged and sat down with me to chat about how he does his thing. Ep. 57 Ame of Junedog Art

Ame's wheelhouse seems to be broad esoterica with a heavy influence from the natural world around her...which I think is pretty cool. We have an all around good chat about her style, workflow, ethos, and why we both hate cat hair when it comes to art. We also dive into where she wants to go with her art for the foreseeable future. Ep. 56 Jody Collins aka the Feral Giant

The world keeps getting smaller and we find out how during this conversation. Jody runs the Feral Giant, his marketing company and the Ramblin Man podcast. We sat down and talked for several hours and seemingly talked about damn near everything under the sun. I put him through the normal KAANP hoops and we had a blast going back and forth on our creativity, work flows/ styles, and shit about life. You can find Feral Giant things here... and Ramblin Man pod here... This conversation was a blast and I'm happy to present it to yall. As always, thanks for listening. It is greatly appreciated! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kaanp/message

    Ep 55 Irreversible Transcendence

If there was ever a ridiculous episode to record on my back porch this one is it. You get the full audio breakdown of what my back yard sounds like. Birds. Neighbors. Traffic, land and air. Also some delightful creative people, Adam Rowe and Chloe Melton join me to burn some artwork and reflect on the act of destroying our creations. Lots of super serious art talk, fire sounds, and general shenanigans. The audio for this one starts a bit choppy in the first few minutes but I get it tuned up rather nicely shortly in. Noise gate foolishness. Anyway, Adam and Chloe are both previous guests so after you listen to this you should definitely go check out their previous appearances on the mic. As always, thanks for listening, it is greatly appreciated! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kaanp/message

    Ep. 54 Steph Cabell

Exceptionally capable but crudely equipped, the king corndog, and purveyor of a very specific brand of raunch, my friend Steph Cabell, song slinger about town. Go see her do her thing, its a great time, Ive done it, you should too! Her fb link is right here and its the best place to keep up with the shenanigans! and as always thank you for listening! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kaanp/message

    Ep. 52 Alon Ferency

Alon is one of those folks that you meet on occasion that views things in a light a bit different than most. Which for what he does with his life and professional pursuits is a wonderful thing. He describes himself as a spiritual counselor for creators, makers and artists. After this conversation I can see why and hope you can to.  You can find his website here and you can find his social media accounts under the same name Eclectic Cleric. FB and Instagram As always thanks for listening and please rate, share, whatever, all that good stuff ya know? --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kaanp/message
