Keeping Kurrent

I have many new opportunities while living near Portland, Oregon. I’m facilitating a group called Climate Change & Environmental Justice Task Force for the Southminster Presbyterian Church in Beaverton, Oregon. At the same time, I’ve been elected the Vice Chair of the Green Team at Willamette View, a retirement community of some 500 people. I have traveled internationally since the early 2000’s. I had a brief hiatus, but, now have started again. My latest foray was to Kansas & Florida, two places that are very different than Oregon, socially, politically, geographically, and otherwise. But I appreciated this experience and will share them on Sound Cloud.

    The Japanese-American Experience

This episode of the Keeping Kurrent Show is a remake of a 2023 episode where you meet Joni Kimoto, a Japanese American who, as a young childe, was placed in one of the Japanese Internment camps in Idaho.  She recounts her experience for us.  She is now seeking funds to publish a movie based on her and other Japaneses-American internment stories.  It is to be called “Silence”. Her story reminds us about the way individuals were considered enemies and incarcerated without trial.  You can find out more about her on Facebook.  Search for Joni Kimoto.
