Less Blockbuster, More Hollywood Video (Episode 209)

Let’s Make It A Blockbuster Night Quick correction: At the start of this episode, we mentioned this was episode 210. Due to shifting the upcoming KVGT Hot Wings Challenge from a full episode to a special, this is now Episode 209 instead. Episode Description KVGT is back with another round of life updates, gaming catch-ups, and a deep dive into one of the biggest trends in entertainment right now. Jeremy, Patrick, Kevin, and Frank settle in with their usual mix of stories, shows, and games before tackling a bigger question: are we living in a golden age of revivals, or is the industry playing it safe? From anime binges to multiplayer chaos and nostalgic throwbacks, the crew sets the stage before diving into a conversation sparked by the Gears of War E-Day showcase, exploring what it means for the future of gaming, franchises, and originality. Topics Covered Life Updates (Non-Gaming) Jeremy balancing dad life, rebuilding his company website, and revisiting shows like Castle and Psych. Patrick juggling life changes, including moving his parents, getting back into the gym, and a trip to Old Spaghetti Factory. Kevin deep in anime mode with series like Frieren, Goblin Slayer, One Piece, and more. Frank catching up on shows like The Bear, Outer Range, and diving into content from Red Letter Media. A mix of everyday life, routines, and the ongoing effort to stay balanced while still gaming. What We’ve Been Playing Jeremy:Lunar: Silver Star Story Remaster, Lethal Company, YapYap, Devour, A Day Out, Marvel Rivals, and Mario Party Jamboree. Patrick:Marvel Rivals, YapYap, Lethal Company, UNO, Burglar Gnomes, Garten of BanBan, Resident Evil 4, Left 4 Dead 2, A Day Out, Devour, and Retro Rewind. Frank:Loop Hero, After Inc. Revival, and Pokémon TCGP. Kevin:Continuing his journey in World of Warcraft. Main Topic: The Revival Debate The crew dives into the Gears of War: E-Day showcase and uses it as a launching point for a bigger discussion: Are we in a golden age of revivals, where classic franchises are being reimagined the right way? Or are we entering a “coward age” of entertainment, where studios rely too heavily on nostalgia instead of taking risks? The conversation explores: Why remakes and remasters succeed (or fail) The role nostalgia plays in both gaming and movies Whether studios are innovating or just playing it safe Which franchises deserve a comeback—and which should be left alone It’s part industry analysis, part nostalgia trip, and part passionate debate about where gaming is headed next. Notable Moments The group reflecting on how much of their current gaming still ties back to older franchises. Kevin casually running through an entire anime catalog like it’s a checklist. Multiplayer chaos continuing to be a core part of KVGT’s identity. The shift from “what we loved” to “what should come back” sparking some strong opinions. The realization that not every classic needs a second life… but some absolutely do. What Next? What do you think? Are we in a golden age of revivals, or has entertainment gotten too comfortable playing it safe? 📧 [email protected] And follow KVGT across the realms:🐦 Twitter: @KVGTpodcast📸 Instagram: @KVGTpodcast Episodes drop monthly (on a day ending in “Y,” as Patrick helpfully noted in a previous episode). You Can’t Say That On Twitch (Episode 208)

Trivia Night Shenannigans Episode Description KVGT returns with a new episode full of post-holiday recovery, gaming catch-ups, and the kind of conversations that only happen when four long-time friends get comfortable behind the mics. Jeremy, Patrick, Kevin, and Frank share New Year reflections, recent adventures, and what they’ve been playing lately before diving into a brand-new segment that’s already destined to return. To cap things off, Jeremy hosts the first-ever KVGT Video Game Trivia, putting the crew’s gaming knowledge to the test and proving that confidence, creativity, and wrong answers can be just as entertaining as getting things right. Topics Covered Housekeeping .Testing out audio-only YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels. Ongoing experimentation with content formats as KVGT settles into its monthly groove. Life Updates (Non-Gaming) Jeremy talks Christmas celebrations, post-holiday sickness, and ringing in the New Year. Patrick reflects on the holidays, a trip to Monterey Bay, and a refreshed mindset heading into the new year. Kevin dives into anime season, catching up on shows like One Punch Man, Ranma ½, Tengoku Daimakyo, and Wise Man’s Grandchild, plus dealing with a New Year cold. Frank checks in with his own post-holiday routine and day-to-day updates. Lighthearted (and sometimes unfortunate) food and health stories make their way into the mix. What We’ve Been Playing Jeremy:Lunar: Silver Star Story Remastered, Kirby Air Ride, Marvel Rivals, and a selection of retro games while family was visiting, including Goof Troop (SNES). Plus multiplayer chaos with Liar’s Bar, Lethal Company, Don’t Scream Together, and REPO. Patrick:Multiplayer horror nights with Lethal Company, Liar’s Bar, Don’t Scream Together, and REPO, alongside Marvel Rivals, Lost Records, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Marvel Cosmic Invasion, Dead Island, Black Myth: Wukong, and RV There Yet. Frank:Settling into longer sessions with Fallout Shelter, Fallout 4, and RimWorld. Kevin:Spending time in New World, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Mario Party. Video Game Trivia  The debut of KVGT Video Game Trivia, hosted by Jeremy. Questions covering iconic characters, classic games, console history, studios, and memorable gaming moments. A mix of confident answers, wild guesses, and creative wrong responses. Friendly competition, laughter, and just enough chaos to guarantee this won’t be the last time trivia shows up on KVGT. Notable Moments The realization that holiday recovery sometimes takes longer than the holidays themselves. Kevin casually listing anime like it’s a full-time job. The group discovering just how dangerous confidence can be during trivia. Wrong answers that somehow feel more entertaining than the correct ones. The collective agreement that trivia needs to come back… soon. What Next? Want to submit trivia questions, suggest future topics, or throw a game into the spotlight for an upcoming episode? Where The Headphones At? (Episode 207)

Reviving an old favorite Episode Description It’s the holiday send-off episode for 2025. Jeremy, Patrick, Kevin, and Frank check in on life, work, conventions, and the ongoing “we’re actually being consistent now” era of KVGT. After some quick gaming updates, the crew leans into seasonal nostalgia and swaps stories about classic Christmas gaming moments from growing up in the 80s and 90s, including late-night console sessions, renting games from Blockbuster, and that magic feeling when a new system felt like a generational leap. To close things out, KVGT brings back a fan-favorite segment: Versus, now with a new cinematic twist. Topics Covered Life Updates (Non-Gaming) Jeremy’s second week as a full-time stay-at-home dad and the behind-the-scenes grind of rebuilding the KVGT website. Holiday season chaos and the “how is it already Thanksgiving/December?” feeling. Frank and Patrick hitting a comic con, visiting a friend’s booth, and getting the itch to go to more conventions. The legendary crab feed (and Kevin catching heat for missing it). Kevin becoming a regular at a San Francisco pub and accidentally turning “going out” into a hobby. What We’ve Been Playing Jeremy steps away from DC Universe Online and talks about finally losing the pull. A co-op horror night in Devour featuring a new carnival map, plus some frustration with one of the game’s tougher levels. Patrick’s time with the newest Call of Duty and why the internet outrage doesn’t match his experience. Marvel Rivals updates and experimenting with a new character kit. Patrick returning to Silent Hill F for a second playthrough. Frank wrapping up his obsession run with Infection Free Zone and returning to Rocket League after years away (and discovering how “rust” works in real-time). Kevin going deep into Baldur’s Gate 3, including the joys and dangers of “perfect outcome” decision-making. Versus Returns Versus is back, and it’s getting the full KVGT glow-up. This is our “nerd bar fight” segment where we toss two iconic characters into the same arena and argue it out like it’s the most important court case in gaming history. The difference in 2025? It’s more curated, more cinematic, and we’re bringing in a KVGT-trained AI to help generate tighter matchups, add flavorful fight breakdowns, and serve as a tiebreaker when the table inevitably deadlocks. Same chaos, better scaffolding. Samus Aran vs. Doom Slayer @ Midgar (Final Fantasy 7) Samus Aran isn’t just a bounty hunter, she’s a one-person tactical strike team in a power suit. She fights like a scientist with a cannon: patient, methodical, and always gathering information before committing. With long-range firepower, mobility tricks, and the kind of adaptability that comes from surviving hostile alien worlds on the regular, Samus thrives when she can control space, use cover intelligently, and force her opponent to play her game. The Doom Slayer is the exact opposite kind of nightmare. He’s pure forward pressure, a walking apocalypse with a toolkit designed to keep momentum never-ending. He doesn’t “engage,” he arrives like a violent weather system, chaining weapons and movement with relentless purpose. The longer he stays close, the worse your life gets. In a battlefield like Midgar’s wreckage, the question becomes brutally simple: can Samus keep the fight at her preferred distance long enough to dismantle him, or does the Slayer close the gap and turn Sector 7 into a one-person horror show? Who do you think wins: Samus or the Doom Slayer? Drop a comment and make your case. And if you’ve got a matchup you want us to throw into the arena next, send it in. Holiday Nostalgia  Classic memories of opening consoles, staying up way too late, and sharing games with family. The “wow” moment of early PlayStation era upgrades: CD audio, intros, and graphics that felt unreal at the time. Christmas gaming staples: NES, Genesis, Madden, Twisted Metal, and the magic of that first real “next-gen leap.” A side tangent into tech nostalgia, including old TVs, old phones, and how quickly everyday tech becomes “ancient artifacts.” Notable Moments Jeremy calling out the new intro still throwing him off, mid-intro. The group roasting their own “consistency era” while actively trying to be consistent. The crab feed talk turning into a culinary victory lap (and Kevin getting dragged for missing it). Frank describing Rocket League “warm-up science” like it’s a sacred ritual. Kevin casually revealing that his BG3 “playtime” and his “save file time” are wildly different… for reasons. The Versus segment returning with full dramatic narration, instantly provoking maximum group chaos. AI picking a different winner than the hosts, which immediately becomes part of the fun. What Next? Got a Versus matchup you want us to debate? Or want us to cover a specific game, topic, or bit of gaming news next month? Send it in.📧 [email protected] And follow KVGT across the realms:🐦 Twitter: @KVGTpodcast📸 Instagram: @KVGTpodcast Episodes drop monthly (on a day ending in “Y,” as Patrick helpfully noted in a previous episode). Today Is A Day That Ends With Y (Episode 206)

We’re Back, We’re Rusty, and We Have New Music Episode Description KVGT kicks off 2025 with a freshly forged format, a new recording platform, and brand-new intro/outro music. Jeremy, Patrick, Kevin, and Frank settle into the revamped monthly rhythm and quickly fall back into the chaotic harmony only 15 years of friendship can produce. This episode is part catch-up, part gaming roundup, part industry chatter, and part “how did we get here?” in classic KVGT style. Expect talk about becoming full-time parents, minimalist purges, VR fitness streams, sports heartbreak, wild show-floor stories, and a surprising amount of Google Maps appreciation. The crew also dives into what they’ve been playing—from DC Universe Online to Baldur’s Gate 3 to Black Myth: Wukong—while keeping it light and spoiler-safe. If you’re here wondering, “What’s KVGT like in 2025?” this is the perfect episode to start with. Topics Covered Life Updates (Non-Gaming) Adjusting to a new recording setup and debuting KVGT’s original intro/outro music. Jeremy preparing for a year of stay-at-home-dad life and cleaning marathons. Patrick surviving work chaos and Raiders disappointment. Frank discovering the joy (and heartbreak) of finishing TV series. Kevin celebrating birthdays, decluttering hard, and making the painful decision to sell collectibles. The group reflects on adulthood, time, and how much “stuff” they’ve all accumulated. What We’ve Been Playing DC Universe OnlineJeremy continues the holiday grind and gives honest thoughts about the rapid sprint to endgame. Borderlands 2A revisit with family sparks a group debate about gun feel, difficulty spikes, and whether the magic of the first game was ever recaptured. Silent Hill FPatrick gives a spoiler-free but spicy review: beautiful game, strong story, questionable “Silent Hill-ness.” Combat frustrations included. Sea of ThievesCrew-based fun is still great; solo play… not so much. Marvel RivalsSeason updates, Daredevil hype, and admitting the addiction. Infection Free Zone (Frank’s surprise pick)A base-builder with a brilliant hook: it uses real-world map data. Turns Google Maps into gameplay, and suddenly you’re defending your actual neighborhood from zombies. Red Dead Redemption 2 (modding)Frank tinkers more than plays, but it counts. World of WarcraftKevin is excited about the upcoming player housing system—just not enough to actually log in yet. Black Myth: WukongGorgeous visuals, challenging combat, and the classic “let me try that boss for you” moment. Baldur’s Gate 3Deep dives into character creation (yes, those sliders), companion chaos, and discovering how even small decisions echo into future acts. Industry & Community Talk EA’s massive $55B acquisition and what that means for beloved dormant franchises. Switch 2 hardware updates and its surprising sales trajectory. Microsoft confirming future Xbox hardware, shutting down rumors of going all-cloud. The AWS outage that temporarily took down Fortnite, Roblox, and half the internet’s sanity. Global gaming market growth—still climbing, still massive. TwitchCon controversy involving streamer safety, security failures, and community backlash. Notable Moments The guys hear their new intro music for the first time on-air. Pure joy. Patrick almost steals Jeremy’s hosting duties within the first two minutes. A heartfelt conversation about fatherhood and childcare costs. A detour into the emotional challenge of decluttering lifelong collections. The phrase “Balded Gate 3” is born. A surprisingly philosophical tangent about security, accountability, and internet outrage culture. Multiple jokes about character genitals. KVGT tradition holds strong. Frank’s obsession with Google Maps resurfaces in glorious form. The team realizes they haven’t been keeping up with gaming news like they used to and vows (loosely) to do better. Patrick’s recommendation of the week: Big Ben’s “Angry Dad Podcast.” What Next? Is It Truly A Revival? (Episode 205)

You heard it right! KVGT Podcast is BACK! But that’s not all! This revival is a true flashback to early KVGT circa 2010 with all four original hosts! That’s right, Jeremy and Patrick are once again going to be joined by OG Hosts Frank and Kevin! And there’s more. Oh, OH so much more! Is This For Real? Yes, the boys of KVGT are back. But before you get TOO excited, there are a few things you should know. First and foremost, we’re coming back as a monthly podcast. Right now, that is every 4 weeks. This may change in the future once we get back up and running. We’re all pretty excited for the revival, but we also all have work and families and *shutters* responsibilities now. But, if I’m being honest, the plan is bi-weekly, that is every other week. Is The Show Staying The Same? Nope! We’re growing, expanding, and bringing KVGT into the 2020s. You’ll have to listen to the episode for all the details, but here are a few bullet points to give you an idea of what to expect: Minor change, but we are rebranding from Knights of the Video Game Table Podcast to KVGT Podcast. Logistically, nothing really changes here since we already use KVGT Podcast in many places. This is because… The podcast topics are expanding from fully video game focused! All of us still love video games and play them regularly, but we also have other interests in movies, tv, reading, tech, and who knows what else and we want the podcast to reflect that. BUT DON’T WORRY! Video games are still going to be a main topic for the show. We’re actually putting a small budget into production, meaning we’ll have cleaner, better sounding episodes and social media posts. The website is…still in flux. While the work on KVGT 3.0 is done, we’re not really sure where we are going from here. The podcast will ALWAYS live here, but we may end up using the site for more than just that. This isn’t some sort of vauge teaser, we really have no plans, but the idea of doing more has come up. Speaking Of The Website… Yeah, our website was trash for many years. Even when we were active in the late 2010s, the site barely functioned, and navigating around was a nightmare. So I spent a week cleaning up categories (we had 30), tags (we had over 3000. WHAT?), and posts. We actually have a decent backlog of interesting posts, but they were so far buried unless you happened to visit the website within the first few weeks of us posting that you wouldn’t even know they existed. But the site isn’t quite done yet. The new blog hub (called Side Quests) is still just a list of everything we’ve posted, without cohesive excerpts or images, all current episodes are poorly formatted, and there are still around 100 episodes of the podcast that are misnamed, and our about page is…sad. This is all part of the next update I’ll do in the coming weeks, you can call it 3.1 if you’re one of those types of people who love numbers. So, This Is Real, Then. It is. And we’re looking forward to bringing you a new version of KVGT, I think a version we’ve all wanted since the beginning. More variety, more laid back, more of us. Thanks for joining us once again, and we can’t wait to hear from you after you’ve listened to the first episode!

The Funeral of E3 (Episode 204)

What can I say, it’s been a few years but we’re back! Kind of… While we’re hoping to do more episodes in the near future, we’re still discussing internally what that might look like. And, of course, in classic fashion, I (Jeremy) got sick right after we recorded this and couldn’t upload it until now! But I’m sure you’ll all enjoy our tribute to E3. Don’t forget to reach out and let us know if you’ve missed us!

Patent Pending What’s Caught Our Eye (Episode 202)

Welcome back! We’re back at it (yet again…again…). We’ll have 2 episodes a month, one on each episode format (see episode 199 and 201 for information on that). This episode we’ll be talking about the future of E3, Sony, and Microsoft in gaming! This episode is similar to what we did back in 199, so if you’re a long time fan you might notice the difference in format. We’re still moving things around, but if you do have feedback on this, please let me know! What’s Caught Our Eye: Patrick Angry dad podcast YouTube Spotify iTunes Jeremy Epic Game Launcher Epic is proving that they can create something that stands alone and offers enough to make it worth it. They give away free games every two weeks! Some great games on there, too. Main Topic Questions – State of E3 and Next Gen What do you think about the recent announcement that Sony has pulled out of E3? Do you think we’re at the end of an era with E3? With Sony pulling out, and Nintendo pretty much already gone, there’s been talk of Microsoft taking over the show and using it as a way to showcase their next console. Are you excited for a next gen already? (XBONE/PS4 Nov. 2013) Next Week’s Episode: A “standard” format where we talk about what’s in the news, what’s coming out, and what we’ve been playing.

Thanks for joining us for another episode of the podcast!  Going to be trying something a bit different this episode with the show notes. It’s here and we are so excited! Episode 200 is a special occasion and not only that, but we have a guest host, Kevin! We also have a special friend who sent in a message for our 200th episode. All this and more, so don’t miss this episode! We didn’t have any news this week or other types of content, this one was mostly just us reminiscing on old episodes, past hosts and guests, and the future.

Sega Does What Nintendont! (Episode 196)

That’s right, we went there, we went old school and borrowed a pretty popular saying during the SNES/Genesis era!   And, in many ways, it was true. Sega had a better console, faster characters, in many ways more interesting games, yet….Sega didn’t have what was most important, nearly as many sales/fans as the SNES!   Anyway, rant aside, let’s get into the episode.     This week we talked about Divinity Original Sin 2, Dark and Light, Sonic the Hedgehog, Record of Agarest War, Farcry 4, Injustice 2, Grand Theft Auto V, Friday the 13th, Dead By Daylight, Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite, Bioshock, and Gears of War 4. Going To Eureka’s Castle (Episode 195)

So, what did we talk about?  I’m so happy you asked!  We talked about Final Fantasy XIV, Overwatch, Jackbox Party Pack, Cards Against Humanity, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, Playerunknown’s Battleground, Friday the 13th, Far Cry 4, Gears of War 4, and Injustice 2! We also talked about Rick and Morty, which was something that caught Patrick’s eye this week.     Just two news stories this week.  The first is that Kingdom Hearts III will have Toy Story and is finally getting a release date…maybe. The second was the problems Final Fantasy XIV has been having since Stormblood came out!

KVGT State of the Podcast 7/7/17

It’s official! Two episodes in a month! Granted, they weren’t the same month, but still! Is it considered consistent if it’s only two episodes? Hmm… This was actually one of our longer episodes as of late, and I”m not sure why. I think because both Patrick and I actually prepared for this one! It’s actually getting us a bit excited that we’re pushing so hard to grow! So let’s get into this amazing episode!       We talked about Final Fantasy XIV, Overwatch, Dead Rising 4, Gears of War 4, Ryse: Son of Rome, Resident Evil 7, and Kingdom Hearts Remix! We also talked about the Terrible Terror Podcast by friend of KVGT, Brian! When you have 3 episodes in 7 weeks, what does that make you?  Well, a Semi-Bi-Weekly Podcast, of course!  But, as Patrick so elegantly points out, it’s much better than a semi-bi-monthly one, right? In this episode, I mention the upcoming changes to our website, which you can already see in the process. We also talk about Super Mario Maker, Fire Emblem Heroes, Dead Rising 4, and Gears of War 4.     This week’s What Caught Your Eye was for an amazing YouTube channel and Twitch streamer, PACO! He is a great mix of skill and personality, and I’m actually watching him live as I post this!     In The News: Early reviews of Logan are positive, 97% on Rotton Tomato from 59 critics Final Fantasy XIV Expansion Stormblood introduces Samurai. I Like To Plug Myself (Episode 189)

WHAT?  Another episode already?  That’s right! I know it’s crazy, but we’re back after only two weeks! Calm down.  It’s going to (hopefully) happen again in two more weeks!  So just enjoy me plugging myself. While this wasn’t quite a full episode, it was very close.  We’re still trying to get back into the swing of things, so consider these past two episodes our warm up for the new year! We talked about Overwatch, Civilization V, Just Cause 2, Picross Touch, Super Mario Maker, Gears of War 4, Far Cry 4, and Dead Rising 4 and then I talked a bit about the amazing voice program Discord.   In the news, we talked a bit about the Resident Evil Movie series, as well as Resident Evil 7 sales numbers. We also talked about the passing of a gaming legend, Masaya Nakamura, the founder of Bandai Namco and the Father of Pac-Man.

  23. 203

    Welcome To 2017 (Episode 188)

We are back again…wait, didn’t we say that a few months ago? Oh well, anyway!  This episode we discuss the top games we played in 2016, as well as what we’re looking forward to in 2017! We will also be trying to stick to our bi-monthly schedule once again.

  24. 202

    We’re Back!…Again… (Episode 187)

Whoa!  It’s been a lifetime since our last episode!  And what I mean by that is there probably have been many podcasts that have come and gone in the time since we last put one out!  For those of you who don’t remember, we ARE a video game podcast, but this episode deals very little in video games.  This is more of a nod to our longtime fans, those of you who have been following us since the early days of Kevin and Frank, to give you an update on the what’s going on. As Patrick mentioned in our opening disclaimer, we talk a lot about ourselves in this episode, and why not?  We are awesome people, but if you’re not interested, you can skip ahead to just after the 22 minute mark.  We didn’t actually use shownotes this week, so I’m not going to provide any further notes here, but just know that we DID talk about the games we’ve been playing, along with a bit about what’s been going on in the industry! Enjoy!

Star Wars of Ocean (Episode 186)

Here is this weeks episode, Enjoy!

Tetris Vs. Dr. Mario The Trilogy (Episode 185)

Tis a great thing to be back to a normal schedule.  As we mentioned two weeks ago, and again in this episode, our podcast will be Bi-Weekly for the time being.  It may become weekly again, or we may just surprise you with an extra episode every once in a while, but for sure we’ll be up every other week.  And in this episode, we bring it back to our old school days with guest host (and ex-co-host) Kevin!   So before I go any further in the show notes, I want to ask a question.  How many of you actually make it this far?  Do you actually read the show notes?  If so, let me know.  I put a lot of work into them and don’t know if the current format, which takes a good amount of time, is worth it.  Comment below or on facebook or wherever and let me know if you actually read the notes.   This week we talked about Doom, Diablo III, World of Warcraft, Overwatch, Witcher 3, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, and Max Payne.     For our What’s Caught Your Eye, I talked about a very amazing piece of technology I recently purchased, the Hauppauge HD PVR Rocket (Affiliate link).  I swear by this PVR as the best one out there if you are looking to just capture from an HDMI source and don’t need top of the line streaming capabilities!     In The News: Tetris Movie Trilogy Announced Sequel to Dragon Ball Xenoverse announced Batman: Return to Arkham Bundle announced Trailer for Assassin’s Creed movie released Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare announced, trailer gets major backlash from millions. Silent Hill: Max Payne (Episode 184)

I’d like to start a bit different this week and point out how fun this podcast is and how much love I feel when I look at how many people are still downloading our old episodes, even though we’ve only posted 2 new episodes in the past 5 months.  This makes me want to do it more often, and Patrick feels the same way.  So from the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who downloads our episodes, even if this is the very first one!   Alright, now with all the sappiness out of the way, onto the actual show notes…   In this episode, we talked about Ratchet and Clank PS4, Mortal Kombat, Mario Maker, Star Fox Zero, Super Smash Bros Wii U, Star Wars: Battlefront, Mount Your Friends, Golf With Friends, Tales of Link, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Titanfall, Gears of War, Life Is Strange, Far Cry: Primal, Doom BETA, Gears of War 4 BETA, and Max Payne.   [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xqUqI1Yi7g&w=500&h=281]   Patrick also wanted to remind people that the We’re Alive podcast is pretty awesome and they’re doing a new series called We’re Alive: Lockdown, so make sure you check that out!   In The News: The PS+ games for May are pretty good Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will be in space Final Fantasy XV Release date, along with companion anime and feature film, announced! Immersed In Other Universes (Episode 183)

The break song says it all, Welcome Back!  This episode was originally going to be short, sweet, and to the point, but we ended up getting back into the gear of things quicker than expected and pushed out a full episode, with rants and tangents and everything! Anyway, it’s good to be back.  There’s no real reason why we took off a few months, other than personal life for both Patrick and I getting in the way, but we really did miss it!       To start, we talked about Star Wars: Battlefront, Titanfall, Endless Legend, Gears of War, Gears of War: Judgement, Fallout 4, Call of Duty: Black Ops III, Killer Instinct, Dying Light: The Following, Borderlands 2, Deadpool, Life is Strange, Far Cry Primal, and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. Patrick pulled a What’s Caught Your Eye out of his pocket in this episode, literally, and talked about the newest update for the Instagram app and we ended the episode with the list of top 10 Brooding White Guys in Video Games!       In The News: Fable Legends canceled, Lionhead Studios to close No Man’s Sky is coming sooner than expected Mass Effect Andromeda not coming in 2016 Uncharted 4 Delayed…Again… Playstation 4 Update 3.5 to add a lot of highly requested features.

Oregon Trail Meets The Zombie Apocalypse (Episode 182)

“Kick, punch, it’s all in the mind.  If you wanna test me, I’m sure you’ll find…” oh man I love that game.  Ever since Patrick and I talked about Parappa the Rappa coming out on PS4 this week I’ve been wanting to play!  I still have my original copy, so maybe I’ll dig it out…might be a fun game to stream on Twitch!   ANYWAY, this episode is chock full of KVGT goodness.  What does that mean?  Well, you’ll just have to listen to find out!   This week we talked about Dawn of Discovery, Elder Scrolls Online,Star Wars Battlefront, Batman Arkham Knight, Call of Duty: Black Ops III, PoKeMoN Revolution Online, Gears of War 2, Gears of War 3, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, and Dragon Ball Xenoverse.   If you’re interested in Pokemon Revolution Online, you can check it out here.   This weeks what caught your eye is the amazing program for PC called Remote Play PC!  Play your Playstation 4 on your computer!  For a detailed guide on how to play both your Playstation 4 and Xbox One on your computer, check out my guide!   In The News: Halo 5 Getting DLC in January Witcher 3 on Playstation 4 and Xbox One 20% off on Amazon  Playstation 4 Took Back Top Sales in November Portable Steam Machine now on Kickstarter November’s Top 10 Best Selling Games Top 10 Best Zombie Games On PC Playstation Experience Recap, including Final Fantasy 7, Ni No Kuni 2, Playstation 4 Backwards Compatibility, and more!

    Happy Halloween (Episode 181)

It’s Halloween!  Wait, what do you mean it’s not Halloween and that Halloween was TWO WEEKS AGO?  Well, what did you expect, me to get the podcast up on time?  Hmm…   Without going into detail (because I’m sure you don’t care), right after recording this episode, a ton of drama went down at my job and I ended up taking over 2 positions temporarily, essentially doing 3 jobs by myself in the same amount of hours I had been doing 1 1/2 jobs.   OK, now on to the podcast…   We talked about Sanctum 2, Starcraft II, Dawn of Discovery, Star Wars Battlefront, Gears of War, Halo 4, Tomb Raider, Devil May Cry 4, and Until Dawn.   After the break we talked about our favorite Scary/Horror games of all time, it was a lot of fun thinking back to what actually scared me!  Aliens Vs. Predator on Jaguar took the top of my list, I know that for sure!   In The News: Nintendo’s new console leaked Target accidentally posts Playstation 4 for sale at $29.99 Outlast 2 Teaser Trailer is out Fallout 4 themed beer now on sale Playstation 4 update 4.0 information

Three Idiot’s On Pariscope (Episode 180)

We’re back this week with an additional host AND recording together in the same room!  Who is this mysterious additional host?  Well, you may remember him from such hits as recording in his car with bad internet, in this episode he is known as the guy who was watching other people on Periscope while we record! Okay so we had a little fun during this episode with the Periscope streaming app, you can check out Patrick’s video below. This week’s What Caught Your Eye was a book/service called Craft Your Future, where you can use the skills you’ve gained in MMORPG’s to translate to real world success!  It’s a great read and the developers plan to keep adding to the product! Other than that, no show notes this week, we didn’t have very many news stories.  Still, it was a fun episode and I hope we do more in-house recording!

  32. 194

    Looking For Updates (Episode 179)

This week’s episode is another catch up episode, but we’re almost back to normal, promise!   We talked about Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and Heavensward, Gears of War Xbox One, Grand Theft Auto V, Mortal Kombat, and Until Dawn.     The Woody Show caught our eye this week, which is a radio show that also posts their newest episode online (Click here to find out more)     In The News: Horror Game The Flock will shut down servers when too many people die New Mortal Kombat X Content Free Playstation Plus games of September 20 upcoming changes/additions to Xbox Playstation 4 Update Bringing More Cloud Storage Fallout 4 will be never ending Mega Man Movie in development.

    E3 2015 (Episode 177)

This weeks episode is all about E3 2015!  We are joined by friend of the podcast Sean, as well as newly titled Super-Fan, Ito!  We’ve been trying to get Ito onto the podcast for a long time, and he’s finally joined us!  He was a little shy (i.e. quiet), but I’m glad we had him on and look forward to having him on again in the future!   ***Just a quick note, you are going to start seeing things change with KVGT, from the way we write our show notes to our podcasting schedule (and everything in between).  Most will probably go unnoticed (or at least glossed over), but some will be major (like the complete overhaul of the website and transplant to KVGTPodcast.com), but I’ll keep you updated about these changes.  The best way to follow those changes are to like us on Facebook.***   Now back to your regularly scheduled show notes…   We covered each conference (with the exception of the Master Race, the PC showcase).  Instead of linking individual videos, I decided to link the videos of each conference!   Microsoft Nintendo Sony EA Ubisoft Square Enix

Dummy Down Wii U (Episode 176)

Absence makes the heart grow fonder, right?  So you guys must LOVE us!  But we are back and should be getting into the groove of things now that summer has hit and there is less…obligation calling from the real world.  E3 was this week and it was AMAZING!  But…this episode was recorded a week ago, so expect our E3 special coming up soon!   But seriously, I apologize for the delay in this episode, it should have been up a week ago, but the last two weeks of school (where I work) were absolutely crazy, working 10+ hour days a lot.  When I got home, it was dinner and sleep before I had to do it all over again!  But that’s over with and I don’t expect to have another job so demanding (though very rewarding) next school year!   Anyway, in this episode, we talked about Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition, Dying Light, Mortal Kombat X, Titanfall, Grand Theft Auto V, Bloodborne, and Dragon Ball Z Xenoverse! We also announced this months Playstation 4 PS+ games, which you can find here, as well as talked about the new headphones I bought, Sony Extra Bass Bluetooth Headset, that I highly recommended in our What’s Caught Your Eye.   In The News: New games in the Video Game Hall of Fame Fallout 4 is Official Simpsons, Portal, Dr. Who, and more coming to Lego Dimensions Amazon spoils a Microsoft E3 announcement Nintendo to announce a new console New Tales game called Tales of Berseria GameStop aquires Geeknet Uncharted 1, 2, and 3 coming to Playstation 4

When I realized this was episode 175, it made me realize how close we are to episode 200.  It feels like just yesterday we hit episode 50!  What a bad episode that was…oh well! Anyway, this week we are joined by Brian from It Be Like That podcast.     In this episode, we talked about Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition, Final Fantasy XIV A realm reborn, Final Fantasy Type O HD, Wolfenstein: The New Order, Dying Light, and Mortal Kombat X.     For something that caught our eye this week, Brian talked about the YouTube channel called ProJared, which you can find here.     In The News: Universal Theme Parks And Nintendo Make A Deal Nintendo’s Fiscal Year 2014 Report Silent Hills Canceled World of Warcraft loses a ton of subscribers Play as Batgirl in the new Batman Game Nintendo Thinks They Will Dominate Mobile Gaming New Assassin’s creed to be announced Gears of War coming to Xbox One The Worst Strategy Guide Ever The Beauty of Xenoblade Chronicles X

This week we have guest host Raditz from Namek!  Oh wait, I’m kidding, he’s too much of a man to be on our podcast… Oh well, maybe one of these days we can have Batman back.  This week it’s actually just me and Patrick, back again.   This week we talked about Mario Party 10, Dying Light, Mortal Kombat X, along with the Mortal Kombat X App and the original Dragon Ball series!   The list was a bit short this week, but we made up for it with no just 1 What’s Caught Your Eye, but TWO!!  The first was for the new Ludacris album, Ludaversal.  It’s an amazing album, just as good all of his old ones.  The second is the new Daredevil series on Netflix, the whole season is up now so go binge watch!   In the News: Wii U and 3DS Sales reach 4 Million in the US Playstation helps catch a murderer History has been made with Mortal Kombat with the release of Mortal Kombat X! H1N1…You Mean H1Z1? (Episode 172)

It may not have been the H1Z1 (or H1N1) viruses that hit us hard this week, but technical difficulties made this hour long podcast take 3 to record!  Still we managed to get through a fun but frustrating episode to bring to you, so enjoy! Skype was not being our friend this week and actually somehow disabled my sound card while we were recording!  I’m still unsure how that happened!  It required us to not only stop recording, but we ended up losing over 20 minutes of recording plus over an hour of on and off disruptions.  Oh well, it was still fun!   We talked about Dragon Age: Inquisition, Chain Chronicles, Dying Light, Boom Beach, Trivia Crack, and Patrick even started reading Gears of War: Anvil Gate again!  Oh, and he also talked a bit about buying a 3TB drive for his Xbox One!   This weeks What Caught Your Eye was the youtube channel Games With Hank. KVGT Special: Top 10 Cult Classics

You might be wondering where me and Patrick have been, or you might not care.  Either way, I’m here to tell you that we’ve both been CRAZY SICK!  Well, mine was about a month ago now, but Patrick has been really sick over the past 2 weeks, so I decided I needed to do one, and I’m joined by John Francisco!   Now if you’re a long time listener, I know what you’re thinking…But Patrick has been on EVERY SINGLE EPISODE SINCE EPISODE 000!  While that’s not ENTIRELY true (he has missed a few of our early “specials”), he has been on all the 171 numbered episodes.   So, in honor of his AWESOME attendance record, I couldn’t do a regular episode.  Instead I decided to do a “Top 10” special!  I’ll be taking a look at top 10 Cult Classic Video Games from a video on WatchMojo.com (unfortunately I could not embed the video, so you can click here to watch).   While I’m sure there are some other great cult classic games you could come up with (and if there are, please leave a comment and let me know!) I thought this list did a pretty good job.   If you prefer to be surprised, don’t continue this post, since I’m going to list the games we talked about.  Or follow along!   The list of games we take a look at are: 10. Spec Ops: The Line (2012) 9. Mirrors Edge (2008) 8. Enslaved: Odyssey to the West (2010) 7. Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines (2004) 6. Okami (2006) 5. Conker’s Bad Fur Day (2001) 4. Beat It In 4 Minutes and 50 Seconds (Episode 171)

I really like doing this podcast, have I ever told you that?  Well, I really do.  We have started thinking about more guests again, this week we are joined by Angelo (along with Elliott in the background making a few comments, if they came through on the mic).  But what it’s all about for me (for us, really, Patrick included) is the fans.  When we hear from fans for any reason, it really makes the difference.  Download numbers are nice, but we really like that back-and-forth, so drop us a line!   Anyway, this week we talked about Middle Earth: Shadows of Mordor, Titanfall, Halo: Master Chief Collection, Ryse: Son of Rome, Dying Light, Titanfall, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Assassin’s Creed Unity, Halo: Master Chief Collection, Dying Light, and Boom Beach. This weeks What Caught Your Eye featured the new trailer for the Fantastic Four reboot that Patrick had a very strong opinion about (what’s new, right?).  I thought the trailer looked good, though I’m not sure if I will support the movie in the long run.     In the news: 15 games over 30 years old men should not play. Amazing Good (Episode 170)

This weeks episode felt like a long time coming, as well as a “back to the normal” for us here at KVGT.  We didn’t mean to skip 3 weeks in between podcasts, but…well…it’s explained once you listen. I will say here that I can’t wait til I’m no longer working at this job.  Between the commute and everything else it takes, I don’t get home til 8PM and have to sleep at 11, makes podcasting very difficult!  I’m not complaining, though, at least I have a job, right? Anyway, we talked about Middle-Earth: Shadows of Mordor, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Steam Dig World, Titanfall, and Boom Beach.  Pretty short list this week, although it was even across both of us. This week’s What Caught Your Eye is a novel trilogy that I am currently reading by Megg Jensen called the Cloud Prophet Trilogy.  It’s a really good fantasy series and best of all the first book is free!  Or get it in a box set with 13 other amazing fantasy novels for only $0.99.   In The News: Metroid Prime Trilogy coming to Wii U Super-Fan Builds team creates Lord of the Rings Litterbox Major Xbox One update in February Man allegedly gets rocks instead of PS4 Xbox wins an emmy! Less Assassin, More Creed (Episode 169)

Merry Christmas!  This is a long one, but it was really good!  Just me and Patrick, but we had plenty to talk about, most of which won’t be included in the show notes since it was all tangents (In a good way) We talked about World of Warcraft, Middle-Earth: Shadows of Mordor, Gears of War: judgement, Kinect Sports 2, Alien: Isolation, Titanfall, Destiny, and Injustice: Gods Among Us. Patrick brought a What’s Caught Your Eye this week, talking about a TV show called Dude, You’re Screwed.   In the news: Lindsay Lohan Made a game for mobile Xbox offering a different deal each day this week New patch for Assassin’s Creed Unity put on hold Playstation 4 gets a price cut for the holiday season Minecraft: Story Mode A Telltale Game series coming soon Devil May Cry 4 might be coming to PS4 and Xbox One Nintendo working on a new console Riptor coming to Killer Instinct Kotaku’s biggest disappointments of 2014

You Don’t Know But You Are Going To Tell Us (Episode 168)

We are joined by long time friend Angelo this week!  I couldn’t believe he’d never been on the podcast before!  Patrick asked him to be on and it went pretty well, except for some bad connection issues he had.  But it wasn’t so bad, considering he was recording on his phone while sitting in his car!   We hope to have him on again in a more…quality friendly environment in the future!  He’s always been a gamer, though I think he’s more into it now than in the past!     This week we talked about playing Destiny, World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, Titanfall, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Assassin’s Creed: Unity, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Alien: Isolation, The Last Of Us, and the expansion The Last Of Us: Left Behind!  As Patrick said, this was the longest list we’ve had in a long time!   Before break we talked a bit about Black Friday and then after the break we put Angelo on the spot for our What’s Caught Your Eye and he talked about the Gaems Personal Gaming Environments, both the 190 Vanguard and the G155!  He has a great two part side-by-side comparison video on his YouTube page if you’re interested!     In The News: Playstation Celebrates 20 years Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2 might be coming to the Playstation 4 Sony lets loose on the December and January free PS+ games for Playstation 4 We may see a bit of Star Wars and Marvel in Kingdom Hearts 3 A chance to explore some awesome fictional places with the Occulus Rift New God of War in development The next Dragon Ball Z movie footage was released Street Fighter 5 a PS4 and PC exclusive? KVGT Presents: Almost Relevant Podcast Episode 1, Black Friday!

Last week I posted the introduction episode of the Almost Relevant podcast, a podcast that I recently started with friend of KVGT, Elliott Lee.  We had such a positive reception on that episode, I’ve decided to continue to post new episodes here for a bit (at least till we’re up on iTunes in December).   This episode we talk about Black Friday.  What it is, our experiences with it, and our thoughts on it.  It was a fun episode to record and one that I think everyone in the KVGT crowd will enjoy!   You can find the home of Almost Relevant at jeremycollier.com/almostrelevant!

I Just Felt Like Blaming Kevin (Episode 167)

A new voice this week along side me and Patrick, a good friend of ours named Elliott!  While he is strictly a PC gamer, he did a great job and showed us what a real guest host should be!   That was a joke, Sub Knight, so stop worrying!   Kidding aside, this turned out to be a pretty long episode and another one that seemed to go by so fast!  We talked about Destiny, Titanfall, Alien: Isolation, Hearthstone, and Borderlands The Pre Sequel!     We let Elliott take the lead on What’s Caught Your Eye this week and he talked about the novel Feed by M. T. Anderson.  Very interesting social sci-fi book that might hit a little too close to home for some!     In The News: Bungie gifts recovering Destiny fan an exotic scout rifle Overwatch from Blizzard has been announced! What The Hell Word Is That? (Episode 166)

So happy that the website seems to still be malware free!  This has really got me thinking, however, and we’ve decided it’s time it’s time for an overhaul of the website.  It’s going to take some time, which will all be done on the backend, but I’m shooting for a January 1 reveal for the new site!   Anyway, onto the podcast…  This week, me and Patrick talked a lot about Destiny, since we’ve both been playing hours  of it, but also talked about Titanfall and Alien: Isolation.   For what’s caught our eye, we talked about something most of our audience probably already knows about and is watching, but I really wanted to talk about it, and that’s the TV show Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D.  If you haven’t checked it out, I suggest you do so RIGHT NOW!  Okay, it can wait till after you listen to this episode, but not much longer!             In the news: Destiny has the Halloween Spirit New information about the Deadrising Movie The PS+ Free Games of November have been announced Grand Theft Auto San Andreas could be coming to Xbox 360 The Playstation 4 update 2.0 brings a lot of new features and upgrades Titanfall gets a new Co-Op Hoard mode The Dark Below, Destiny’s first DLC, release date confirmed

Well this has been an interesting few weeks at KVGT!  We recorded this episode almost two weeks ago but last weekend when we went to put it up, we realized the site was compromised!  Continue on to find out more…   Long story short, the website was overun with a virus.  It infected over 6000 files (almost 50% of all files across all my websites), took down all aspects of the website except for the base programming, and even injected a forwarding URL for our moble website to porn.  It wasn’t even good porn, either, it was really bad, really expensive crap!  The least they could have done was provided you all with some good stuff… With all that said, please drop us a line if anything isn’t working correctly on the website! Anyway, me and Patrick talked about Destiny, Castle Defense, Titanfall, and Alien: Isolation!  We have been playing a lot of Destiny, I mean a lot! Our buddy and artist Corey Bass joined Twitter recently, you can find him @Ctristan66 and don’t forget to check his website and web comic at TheChroniclesOfPhoenix.com!   In The News: Turn Your Walls Into A Video Game Final Fantasy Designer takes on Catwoman The replica of Midgar in Minecraft is finally complete! Resident Evil gets a TV show Link is going to be racing a Kart! An update on GamerGate

    Captain N In…Tetris! (Episode 164)

This week was all about the tangents and I have to admit, it was worth it!  It always makes me laugh how different two episodes can be, one week we have a lot of news stories and it feels like we’re just talking about nothing, and then the next we have only a few news stories and feels like we’ve just talked about 100’s of things!  That’s how this week felt.   We talked about Destiny, a lot about Destiny, along with Skyborn, and Titanfall.  Real short list this week!  For me, Destiny has been taking up all my console time, really no reason to play anything else!     In The News: Tetris Movie announced Latest Mortal Kombat character announced Playstation Home is closing it’s doors New updates for GTAV Amazon’s acquisition of Twitch is complete Pac-Man Goes Pink Euclideon’s SOLIDSCAN technology is amazing Sims update adds Star Wars costumes
