Laws about Lashon Hara

The Laws of Loshen Hara are there to guide us on what to say and what not to say. In 1873 Rabbi Yisrael Meir Kagen compiled these laws into two books: “Chafetz Chaim”, which means “Desirer of Life” and “Shmirat Halashon”, translated as “Guarding the Tongue”. Speaking kindly is the basis of loving everyone. Rav Yehudah Zev Segal divided these laws into a daily study cycle, so it stays at the forefront of our minds. May this learning elevate the Neshama of Moshe Mordechai Ben Pinchas. Join the chat to have each one delivered directly to you! https://chat.whatsapp.com/BOO6h7SMjgLERUmbWG17C6

Definitely can’t about a Torah Scholar, and if you thought you could about a “Heretic”….

6 Av Day 68&69 *Its extremely not good to speak negatively about a Torah scholar, as one might not ask them questions or advice anymore. We can’t speak Lashon Hara about a foolish person either. Technically we can speak Lashon Hara about a heretic who denies G-d and Torah that we have first hand personal evidence of, HOWEVER everyone in this generation that is not observant is considered a tinok she’nishpat- a “stolen infant” _who therefor cannot be blamed for their lack of faith- so not a heretic,_ and cannot say Lashon Hara about them.* May this learning be L’iluy Nishmas Moshe Mordechai Ben Pinchas

  29. 6

Day 66 “Family issues” is still Loshen Hara and cannot be discussed if not for a constructive reason

4 Av Day 66 *We cannot say anything bad about any family members, as one might think this is a “family issue” and needs to be discussed.* May this learning be L’iluy Nishmas Moshe Mordechai Ben Pinchas

  30. 5

Day 65 If there is Evidence but no first hand proof, you cannot take sides based on just evidence.

3 Av Day 65 *Even in cases of monetary disputes, if there is evidence but NOT firsthand proof, you _cannot_ take sides, believe or take actions against the other person- because it is still Loshen Hara.* May this learning be L’iluy Nishmas Moshe Mordechai Ben Pinchas

  31. 4

The Evidence must be Strong evidence and experienced FIRSTHAND!!

2 Av Part 2 (some days have two sections to learn for that day) If there IS a constructive purpose for you to believe/say something, the proof must be STRONG and experienced Firsthand. May this learning be L’iluy Nishmas Moshe Mordechai Ben Pinchas
