In a time of relentless attacks on education, Black Studies, and Black History Month itself, the AERA Leadership for Social Justice (LSJ) SIG is launching a powerful podcast series to illuminate critical conversations and elevate solutions. Through engaging discussions with scholars and practitioners, we will explore the past, present, and future of Black Studies—centering voices that challenge erasure and advance liberation.From Carter G. Woodson’s legacy to the future of Black curriculum, we will examine how knowledge has been both a site of oppression and a tool of resistance. Guests will share personal stories of how liberatory education shaped their lives and discuss strategies to protect Black children in this era of educational censorship. Depending on the conversation, we may even take up Bob Marley’s call to “emancipate ourselves from mental slavery”—interrogating what true intellectual freedom looks like today.While this series is designe
