Talk to Real People – Stop Guessing, Start Listening
Send us Fan Mail(Lowcountry Revolutionaries “Advice Mixtape” Series)In Charleston’s startup scene, the fastest way to kill a good idea is to build it in isolation. Too many founders hide behind spreadsheets, assumptions, and late-night research—only to discover months later that the market doesn’t want what they’re selling. The Lowcountry founders who actually break through do the opposite: they get out early, sit down with real humans, and let customers shape the business before they bet big on perfection. In this powerful mixtape episode, you’ll hear unfiltered, battle-tested advice pulled straight from the show on why talking to real people is the ultimate unfair advantage—and exactly how to do it without wasting time or burning bridges.Featuring advice from:Stephen Golubieski – Founder & CEO, Olu HealthPeter Ricciardi – Author, Mind Shift. Profit Lift.JoAnn Gibbs – President & Fractional Data Analyst, Analytics 4 GrowthFrank Gomez – Founder, Ethical EatersPeter Jordan – Co-Founder, Carolina Venture StudioThese aren’t theoretical tips. They’re the raw lessons from founders who’ve walked the walk in the Lowcountry—validating ideas with actual users, turning painful feedback into product-market fit, and accelerating faster by listening first. If you’re stuck in the “I think they’ll want this” phase, this episode is your wake-up call. Dream Big, Start Small
Send us Fan MailThe myth of the “all-in” entrepreneur is loud in startup culture—but in the Lowcountry, the tides turn fast and the bills don’t wait. The smartest founders here don’t mortgage the house on a hunch. They keep a day job a little longer, launch scrappy pilots, run experiments they can afford to lose, and treat every early setback as tuition paid, not failure. In this special mixtape episode pulled straight from the best advice moments across the podcast, you’ll hear raw, battle-tested wisdom from Charleston-area founders on how to build sustainably in a high-cost, high-opportunity market.Featuring advice from:Zac JenningsLindsay LenardMeghan RoweAmanda EdwardsLynne FullerHeather ValeriChris DuganThese aren’t polished keynotes—they’re the real talk from people who are actually doing it in Chucktown: protecting cash flow, validating fast and cheap, pivoting without panic, and stacking small wins into something that lasts.Whether you’re still in the idea stage, six months in and feeling the burn, or scaling and needing to stay grounded—this one is pure signal. Building Community at The Drop In
Send us Fan MailIn this raw conversation, I sit down with Gillian Zettler, co-founder of The Drop In, to dive into their journey from pop-up experiences to landing their first permanent home at 1118 King Street. Gillian and her co-founder Chandler Frisbie have spent nearly a decade turning a shared vision into reality: a hybrid movement and experience studio that blends rhythm-based indoor cycling, somatic mat work, dance elements, sculpt, and sweat—all in a music-driven, phone-free space designed for cathartic release and real human connection. What stands out is how they've scaled a nontraditional concept without chasing transactional fitness norms. Instead, they've stayed laser-focused on inclusion, accessibility (think BOGO intro offers, locals' first-week unlimited deals, and even HSA/FSA reimbursements via partners like TrueMed), and fostering belonging. "You belong here" isn't just a tagline—it's the heartbeat of The Drop In, creating a community where people drop in to move, release tension, build resilience, and connect on a deeper level. We talk about the triumphs and grit of evolving from pop-ups to a buzzing permanent studio on King Street (grand opening vibes kicked off around February 2026), the intentional design of the space for joy and grounding, and why prioritizing community over competition has helped them stand out in Charleston's growing wellness and innovation ecosystem. This one's all about turning passion into a vessel for experiences that move people—literally and figuratively—while contributing to the Lowcountry's reputation as a hub for creative, purpose-driven ventures.Check out The Drop In at https://www.thedropin.com, book a class, or follow along on their Instagram @thedropin__ to feel the energy.Intro pre-roll Outro post-rollWear the Movement — Support NeoHEROOfficial Lowcountry Revolutionaries merch is now live: soft tees and sharp trucker caps built for dock walks, King Street hustles, and the everyday grind of building in Charleston.Every royalty is split with NeoHERO Foundation — our Lowcountry 501(c)(3) partner equipping first responders with neonatal resuscitation training and life-saving NeoPACK™ equipment.Wear the movement. Giving AI the Gift of Memory and Context at Silicon Harbor Technologies
Send us Fan MailJoin host Bill Billotte as he sits down with Kenny Alge and Jake Mundell, co-founders of Charleston-based Silicon Harbor Technologies, to dive deep into their company's game-changing pivot. What started as human-facing tools like DataVerse and Explorer evolved into a profound question: What if the real consumer of code intelligence isn't developers... but AI itself? In this raw conversation, Kenny and Jake unpack the birth of LOOM—their flagship suite designed for persistent, AI-native code understanding. They reveal the core limitations of massive context windows in models like Claude, and how LOOM bridges that gap with game-changing features:The MCP Interface: 31 tools that let any MCP-speaking AI (Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, and more) truly understand a codebase—not just search it, but reason about functions, risks, blast radius, and dependencies. The Context Bridge (get_context()): A single call that compresses thousands of data points into ~500 smart tokens, tailored to intents like onboarding, editing, debugging, or PR reviews. The Living Document: LOOM's long-term memory that synthesizes architectural insights ("god functions," tight coupling, dead code hotspots) and gets smarter with every AI interaction—benefits compounding from the first scan to the tenth. They get honest about the painful wall they hit: tons of powerful infrastructure (147,000 data points, massive graphs, caches) generating only a handful of insights—until the breakthrough that "intelligent" means deriving behavioral summaries, file zone maps, and patterns directly from code structure, no LLM required for the heavy lifting.Looking ahead, they share their four priorities to supercharge the Living Document: function behavioral summaries, file zone compression, richer pattern extraction, and merge learning across sessions. The big vision? Point LOOM at any codebase, let it scan once, and empower any AI to grasp it deeply—without ever reading source code—answering "what does this do?", "what breaks if I change it?", and "what should I watch out for?"This episode is a must-listen for developers, AI builders, founders navigating tech pivots, and anyone betting on the future of intelligent systems. Silicon Harbor isn't just consulting or coding—they're redefining how code lives, learns, and evolves in the AI era, right here in the Lowcountry.Intro pre-roll Outro post-rollWear the Movement — Support NeoHEROOfficial Lowcountry Revolutionaries merch is now live: soft tees and sharp trucker caps built for dock walks, King Street hustles, and the everyday grind of building in Charleston.Every royalty is split with NeoHERO Foundation — our Lowcountry 501(c)(3) partner equipping first responders with neonatal resuscitation training and life-saving NeoPACK™ equipment.Wear the movement. From Chronic Pain to Game-Changing Invention: Beau Sitzmann's BACK UP Tool Revolution
Send us Fan MailJoin Bill and his guest Beau Sitzmann. Beau is the founder of Evolutionary Tools Inc. “After 15 years of doing construction work, I found myself in constant pain. The long hours of working on the ground in a hunched position had taken a toll on my shoulders, lower back, and knees. I realized I couldn’t continue working this way without doing serious damage to my body. That’s when I got the inspiration to create the BACK UP Tool. I developed this device so that people in all walks of life can avoid the pain and injury caused by working at ground level.” -Beau Sitzmann, inventorBeau was born on July 4th in Le Mars, Iowa, and is the youngest of four children. Beau’s father started his own sunroom company when he was in high school, giving him early exposure to work. Three days after graduation, he moved into his own apartment, starting his full-time career in construction.By 29, Beau had spent over a decade in grueling construction, developing a severe drinking problem to cope with chronic back and knee pain. Three days after his 29th birthday, a vision of himself as a broken, alcoholic degenerate spurred him to quit drinking and seek hospital treatment. That was 18 years ago. After leaving the hospital, he felt revitalized. He committed to mastering construction, working three times harder and longer, even through weekends, until he was 34. Despite achieving mastery, 15 years of 60-hour work weeks took a toll on his body; his lower back and knees became overused and often immobile. Facing another crossroads, Beau knew he needed to solve the problem that was creating all the pain or walk away from his family’s business. One Christmas Eve, while tiling a floor late into the night, his wrist and fingertips went numb. It struck him: if he couldn't feel it, why not create a third arm centered on the torso to support his body, bringing him closer to his work and freeing both hands? Thus, the BACK UP was born. Beau built the first prototype the next day, and it worked perfectly. Five more units were built and distributed to tradesmen, who also found them incredible. These early versions weren't retail-ready. He spent three years refining the design, realizing some users needed an arm lock, while others didn't, and that the arm needed to be detachable. From Boardroom to Therapy Room: Roberta Moore on Building Emotional Intelligence for Success and Fulfillment
Send us Fan MailJoin Bill and his guest Roberta Moore. Roberta has a background that bridges the boardroom as well as the therapy room. She brings a unique blend of business acumen and emotional depth to her work as an executive coach and licensed marriage and family therapist. Before founding Conscious Choices and The EQ-i Coach, she spent over 18 years in corporate/public accounting and banking—working with Fortune 500 companies, structuring multimillion-dollar deals, and managing teams in high-stakes environments. Along the way, she earned an MBA, MST, CPA, and multiple leadership accolades, including the Enterprising Woman of the Year, a Globee and a Stevies Award. But it was her calling to help people grow, beyond numbers and titles, that led Roberta to become a licensed marriage and family therapist and eventually launch her coaching company. While working in private practice, she noticed the skills that held clients back in their relationships at home were the same ones at work. We are holistic human beings. We might behave differently in different contexts, but the same skills help us succeed both at home and at work.Roberta realized she could combine cognitive behavioral skills with EQ and offer clients the most well-rounded approach: one that provides a structured and scientific roadmap to personal and professional development. Today, she works with executives, teams, and professional organizations across the country to develop their emotional intelligence through 1:1 coaching, EQ assessments, workshops and group trainings.Through The EQ-i Coach, she help leaders become more self-aware, empathetic, and emotionally agile: skills that foster not just professional success, but personal fulfillment. And through her therapy practice, Conscious Choices, she continues to support individuals, couples, and families seeking meaningful connection and emotional well-being. Both pathways are grounded in the same belief: transformation begins within through building emotional intelligence. After vacationing in Charleston twice a year for 15+ years, she is ecstatic to realize her dream to be based on Daniel Island.
